- Greatn3ss, on 06/01/2008, -4/+18He'll be sweet in this movie, but to be honest, I'm more excited for his upcoming larger role works like Bonzai Shadowhand, "The story revolves around a once-great ninja who is now living a life of mediocrity somewhere in the San Fernando Valley"

I'm sorry it had to be said. =( - nytejade, on 06/01/2008, -3/+14I put off watching Transformers for a long time because I thought it was going to be terrible - mainly because of Michael Bay.
The movie had its share of cliche moments, no one can argue that. Being an 80's child who grew up on Transformers cartoons playing with die-cast metal action figures of Optimus Prime, I would have loved the robots to stay true to the original cartoon. I definitely feel your "huge piles of junk" comment.
However, the plot was good, and Sam was actually a likable, funny character. As were most of the characters, in fact, except the marines. They were ALL terrible. I don't understand why people still cast Tyrese Gibson. He's probably the most uncomfortable actor to watch in the history of film.
I'm a huge geek for anything that's done well. There's no denying that Transformers has raised the bar for the interaction of live actors and CGI on a large scale. The action sequences are also very, very well done. The unorthodox camera angles border on dizzying, but ultimately work.
Crap, I basically just wrote a review, and didn't intend to. I guess my point is, don't overlook what the movie does really, really well because of its glaring weaknesses. - harryterry, on 06/01/2008, -1/+11False: Transformers eat Bears.

- Rkstar, on 06/01/2008, -0/+9I first remember seeing Rainn play a mechanically-aided superhero in Dark Angel with Jessica Alba like a decade ago. It was his invention that let Logan walk for like 10 episodes. For those of you who remember that classic show.

- Lasereth, on 06/01/2008, -1/+9As long as his performance isn't as cameo-cringe-worthy as Juno then I'll be alright. His lines in that movie were torture, all 15 seconds of it.

- t4ll3y, on 06/01/2008, -2/+9I think you made a mestake in the title. You spelled "Dwight Schrute" as "Rainn Wilson".
- c0baltfish, on 06/01/2008, -0/+6That's a ridiculous question.
- Ratteler, on 06/01/2008, -0/+6All I care about is seeing Megan Fox bend over another car. *drool*
- ripple123, on 06/01/2008, -9/+15transformers 2, the quest for the steady camera.
- protodon, on 06/01/2008, -3/+9Seems to be that anyone that grew up with the original series thinks this. Although I can't figure out why because looking back on the series the stories lacked much depth. Te neverending search for energon and the fact the only earth seems to have it, gets really old after 2 episodes.
- cgruber, on 06/01/2008, -1/+6usually they don't say that.
- DJSPin047, on 06/01/2008, -2/+7But it had helicopters! And sunsets! And helicopters flying into the sunset!
Anything that was good about Transformers was Spielberg's part of the script, all the military nonsense ("Bring the Rain!"?!) was Bay. - inactive, on 06/01/2008, -2/+7Wow, I can't believe I actually found someone else on the internet that shares my opinion on this movie.
Yes, it really was a terrible film. I went to go see everyone's favorite transforming robots in a live action movie... only to find that they were actually side characters. Plus, the story is a total mess, the script is painful, and none of the humor was funny (probably because it was aimed mostly at 12 year old boys who laugh at ANY sex joke, regardless of how humorous it actually is). - uncertainty, on 06/01/2008, -0/+5Have you ever asked yourselves in an hour of meditation - which everyone finds during the day - how long we have been striving for greatness?
