- parabola9, on 07/01/2009, -1/+20Bank robbery is a lot less glamorous than it used to be. For one thing, you don't even have to be armed nowadays. For another, chances are the bank you're robbing is being kept afloat by public tax dollars, so you'd really be robbing everyone, which isn't exactly endearing to the masses.
- adventureindia, on 07/01/2009, -0/+9Jonny Depp's movies are always entertaining to watch
- richmomz, on 07/01/2009, -6/+15Jonny Depp's movie looks like it will be a nice bit of entertainment, but everyone knows that in the real, modern world it is the BANKS that commit most of the robbery in America.
- Barackalypse, on 07/01/2009, -0/+7I suspect its also a lot less profitable than it used to be:
"the average amount of money taken in a bank robbery over the period 1996 through 2000, according to NIBRS data is less than $5,000."

For $5k you may as well just steal an SUV, the FBI won't get involved and you won't go to prison for anywhere near the length of time. - mrogi, on 07/01/2009, -3/+8The flood G-rated movie blockbusters in 2009 were driving me to the brink of suicide. That god we finally got a movie for grown-ups.
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -0/+5The International is based entirely around shady multinational banks that ***** over everyone but themselves (fed reserve....)
- Barackalypse, on 07/01/2009, -1/+4I'd like to see V for Vendetta re-made in Washington, or perhaps Boondock Saints 2 where they clean up the corruption in Congress (yes, I know Boondock Saints 2 has already finished shooting and this isn't the plot).
- aspec, on 07/01/2009, -0/+3I'd think a better take would be to get a big gas station before the daily deposit. It has to be counted and usually a manager will retire to a back room to do it for a couple of hours. I've seen deposits from some larger highway stations hit 50 grand, about 30 in cash. Of course, we took checks back then, so I'm sure the game has changed some.
Err... not that I'd recommend actually doing it. Especially not when the risk is running in to one of those money truck guys with an itchy trigger finger. - inactive, on 07/01/2009, -1/+4Can't believe you got dugg down, seriously a REAL movie for REAL adults instead of all this CGI teenager trash.
- BLeppard, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3Movie reviews aren't always right....I thought it was pretty good.
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -0/+3Nothing beats an old-fashioned telephone scam.
- Memnochxx, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2I saw it too. It wasn't really that good.
- OLTP, on 07/01/2009, -1/+3Well "Secret Window" sucked but nobody's perfect.
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -1/+2That is almost original.
- PeppermintPig, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1Unfortunately that film appears to focus on the wrong issue. I guess that's why it's fiction. :)
- shibagarden, on 07/01/2009, -1/+2I'm sure this was in development before the bailouts. But it may spawn a trend.
- Memnochxx, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1That Gilbert Grabe movie sucked too.
- JoeParanoid, on 07/01/2009, -0/+1I'm guessing that WoodyGuthrie is no longer the folk hero. It's sad how people have learned to love the oppressor and hate the oppressed, in Malcolm X's famous words.

YOUNG MAN
I mean the way it is now, you're
takin' the same *****' risk as
when you rob a bank. You take more
of a risk. Banks are easier!
Federal banks aren't supposed to
stop you anyway, during a robbery.
They're insured, why should they
care? You don't even need a gun in
a federal bank.
I heard about this guy, walked into
a federal bank with a portable
phone, handed the phone to the
teller, the guy on the other end of
the phone said: "We got this guy's
little girl, and if you don't give
him all your money, we're gonna
kill 'er." - Meesher, on 07/01/2009, -1/+1You couldn't do it one post? Do you have ADS?
- brainboy7777, on 07/01/2009, -3/+3Hopefully these future movies will be better than public enemies, cuz I am pissed off that I spent $16 to watch this with my sister. I have no idea why michael mann, johnny depp, and christian bale didn't have any other things to do besides make this movie.
- dangdavid7, on 07/02/2009, -0/+0cgi? 100 bucks say if you wait until and watch the whole ending credits you'll spot a visual effects company or 2 that worked on 'Public Enemies'. Face it, cg is in about every movie nowadays.
- diggduggDOOM, on 07/01/2009, -2/+1Clearly, you've never seen "Nick of Time" with Johnny Depp and Christopher Walken. I couldn't make it halfway through before giving up, and those are two of my favorite actors.
- kspankratov, on 07/01/2009, -3/+1Hi Ross
- Meesher, on 07/01/2009, -2/+0Yeah, I'm surprised to see how many bad reviews this film is getting. At least two reviews I read made reference to the scene where Dillinger is in the theater watching a gangster flick, and how that picture seemed so much more interesting than Public Enemies. LOL
- aznhomig, on 07/01/2009, -5/+1DO IT *****.
- L0NER, on 07/01/2009, -9/+4Yes, as through your life you roam,
You won't never see an outlaw
Drive a family from their home.
-Woody Guthrie on Pretty Boy Floyd - Enche, on 07/01/2009, -9/+3FIRST!`
- L0NER, on 07/01/2009, -13/+4It was on a Christmas Day,
There was a whole car load of groceries came
with a note to say:
Well, you say that I'm an outlaw,
You say that I'm a thief.
Here's a Christmas dinner
For the families on relief. - L0NER, on 07/01/2009, -13/+4But a many a starving farmer
The same old story told
How the outlaw paid their mortgage
And saved their little homes. - L0NER, on 07/01/2009, -13/+4Others tell you 'bout a stranger
That come to beg a meal,
Underneath his napkin
Left a thousand dollar bill.
