- jaredvolkl, on 11/14/2007, -0/+60Wait... Someone pirated a movie? And actually did it some good? And didn't get tracked down and sued by the MPAA? And was praised by the producer? Man, what is this world coming to?
- MikeonTV, on 11/14/2007, -0/+27Sign of the future. I don't know how many artist I have discovered thanks to Demonoid.
- MCDupree, on 11/14/2007, -0/+26"This example once again illustrates what a powerful promotion tool filesharing networks are, especially for independent productions with a small budget."
Others should take note. - dev22, on 11/14/2007, -1/+16original article at http://www.rlslog.net/piracy-isnt-that-bad-and-the ...
- sigtau66, on 11/14/2007, -0/+14I downloaded this movie because it sounded interesting as I had never heard of the book nor the author. I must say that I was impressed with the movie. Though it was all dialog, it kept my interest for the full movie. I'm glad to see that the people behind this film aren't getting angry at their movie existing in the file sharing world. Good on them. I will be sure to buy this DVD when it becomes available because of their stance on the release on the spread of their movie through file sharing.
- murf43143, on 11/14/2007, -0/+14This was actually a GREAT movie. Watch it till the end, you may want to stop after the first 15, but it is worth it. Thank you!
- pennyfan87, on 11/14/2007, -1/+13You're welcome.
- Intervention, on 11/14/2007, -0/+9incredible film. I pirated it and told all my friends and family about along with many internet forums. They are going to rent/buy it now.
- SgtBeavis, on 11/14/2007, -0/+8Smart man....
- objectcode, on 11/14/2007, -0/+7they are afraid of what p2p might do for small minnows
- zoink15, on 11/14/2007, -0/+6Everyone should do some more good and help these guys out. http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog. ...
- insllvn, on 11/14/2007, -0/+5I miss the little green demon...
- achoi, on 11/14/2007, -0/+4What he needs to do is upload the movie, then make a ligitimate attempt to trying to get that movie offline. He needs to threaten to SUE THE PANTS OFF everybody that downloads it. He needs to try to put in bogus seeds on bittorrent. He needs to kick and scream. Once that happens, the pirates and rebels take note and goes to spread the film like wildfire.
Then he becomes famous - DCJoeDogaswell, on 11/14/2007, -0/+4I'm downloading from you then, SEED FASTER DAMN YOU!! LOL
- epj3, on 11/13/2007, -0/+4Free exposure. I know MANY people don't do this - but if I download or see a downloaded movie and I like, 90% of the time I will buy it on dvd (or 100% if it's on HD-DVD.) I don't have time to go to a theater to see it and would quite frankly rather watch it on my 32" HDTV at my leisure.
- nestcrw, on 11/14/2007, -0/+3Yeah, think about it, if all of the little guys are thriving with their cheap pirate advertising, what reason is there to go big?
- chris9902, on 11/14/2007, -0/+3I'm going to download the film to see what all the fuss is about. Anyone got a link?
- Eeqmcsq, on 11/14/2007, -0/+3Wow, what an awesome letter. I loved the idea that he's getting all this attention and buzz about this movie when he "had next to no advertising budget and very little going for it." That's the power of the Internet.
- heystoopid, on 11/14/2007, -0/+3It was made by a small independent outfit so why should they care about the little minnows ?
- dovin, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2im downloading it now

I miss the little pink piggy...
Also KG is really good for independent films. - Audacitor, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2Do we not agree that it matters not what genus and color our torrenty friends were, but that they brought us fantastic artists through to the end?
- UtahPirate, on 11/14/2007, -1/+3WTF are you talking about?
- pjdk28, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1for movie buffs such as myself, this is the absolute truth. I (may or may not) have learned about dozens if not more than a hundred non-mainstream movies/genres/directors etc via the internet, that i most likely would never have been exposed to otherwise. I can assure the films companies that my dvd collection has grown proportionally. the simplicity of the internet makes their market audience so accessible...
- archimago42, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1If you are already rich, yes. Otherwise you usually give into the first part so you can continue doing the second.
- joe2100, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1is it just me or does this movie have half the cast of the remake of Dawn of the Dead in it?
- JupiterSSJ4, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1I downloaded it, it looks good, I would have NEVER found out about it if it wasn't for piracy. I think I am going to watch it sometime this week.
- jron, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1Weird, I JUST finished watching The.Man.From.Earth.2007.PROPER.DVDRip.XviD-DOMiNO. Loaded up digg after finishing it. The movie was a welcome change despite the horrible acting :P
- 7goats, on 11/14/2007, -1/+2What are you folks smoking? This MOVIE IS TERRIBLE. It's like some Christian Youth Group's skit for summer camp. The main character claims that he was "accidentally" Jesus -- when in fact he's a CAVEMAN that has lived for 14,000 years. He then goes on to "explain" the real story behind religion, politics and even his friendship with Van Gogh. And, yes we watched the whole movie -- tho it took two attempts.
- objectcode, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1wasn't Hollywood enough for you
- rarson, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1The whole point of advertising is that you become aware of the film. You are aware of the film now, aren't you?
Advertising doesn't force people into theater seats. - junshien, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1If they don't want to buy the DVD, they can also send the filmmakers a small financial payment of thanks. More info on their MySpace blog: http://www.myspace.com/manfromearth

- phogasmic, on 12/03/2007, -0/+1I downloaded the movie and I loved it. I downloaded it because the premise was so intriguing and I couldn't wait for the DVD to be released. I would have brought it if it were on ITunes, or another place without DRM. F****in studios.. wake up from your slumber, sell UnDRMed downloads. Brilliant small films like this one will be able to find they're rightful audiences. I am going to buy the DVD anyway, whoever made this deserves the money to make more thought provoking films like this.
- humanerror, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1I guess they don't have jokes in Utah.
- inactive, on 11/14/2007, -0/+1That doesn't apply for everyone. I know a few people who burn stuff but will purchase stuff they really like. Then there is a certain percentage who prefer not to buy. So can't generalize for everyone. And you know what the sad thing is? All the really good stuff are sold off for bargain prices ( so good for fans then) and some weird floppity story that no one wants to ever buy has a big price tag. Case in point, Titantic vs. Office Space & Rocky Horror Pic Show.
- junshien, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1My bad. first link does not work. Go to their MySpace page ... Paypal details are in the blog entry.
- junshien, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1If you guys enjoyed the movie, please consider donating to the filmmakers via Paypal.

Their official blog is http://www.myspace.com/manfromearth, which is also linked from their website. - UtahPirate, on 11/14/2007, -2/+2I think I'm going to make up a tee shirt: "I helped shut down the MPAA by preventing them from justifying their existence, and all I got was this lousy tee shirt."
Whaddya think, guys? - UtahPirate, on 11/14/2007, -1/+1Oh, and... lest I forget, that same study shows an increase in media purchases of 44% over a year by those who make unauthorized downloads.
- UtahPirate, on 11/14/2007, -1/+1Actually, there's a study done that puts you in the minority, PD. So while we're talking about "honesty" then why don't we start with why YOU don't feel the need to support artists in their works? That's the real dishonesty, not in downloading in the first place.
- inactive, on 11/14/2007, -1/+1Bury.
- mwrl, on 11/14/2007, -1/+1Isn't the point of any entertainment piece to get people to see it?
- inactive, on 11/15/2007, -0/+0This is hilarious! but so true
- 15thPD, on 11/13/2007, -1/+1None of you guys are being honest. I know us "pirates" like to tell people that we actually buy the movie we pirated if we like it, but I never have. I've pirated and burned over 800 movies within the last 4 years, and I haven't purchased a single movie in that period. I do the same with music. I don't buy what I can get for free.
- humanerror, on 04/03/2008, -4/+3Way to support terrorism, Eric Wilkinson
- vickei, on 11/14/2007, -3/+1I'm downloading it right now as of this article.
- ColorBlind, on 11/14/2007, -6/+1Wasn't good enough...I didn't see the film.
- hellotyler, on 11/14/2007, -7/+1shut the ***** up about torrent sites
- AngryMarge, on 11/14/2007, -11/+0You couldn't give this movie away. People must have stolen just because they could. Buried.
