- likwidfuzion, on 07/16/2009, -16/+43"Hey! Snape kills Dumbledore."
- Falldog, on 07/16/2009, -0/+24I want a clever and original comment. We dream such dreams...
- mizusajt, on 07/16/2009, -3/+22Dumbledore is GAY!
- stevealford, on 07/16/2009, -3/+22I enjoyed the movie with the notable exception of an obvious "Dumbledore is gay" jab involving a knitting magazine. As with all books of that length, you can't really capture it on film, so I won't complain about how much ***** was left out and just say that I liked it for what it was.
- monodelasno, on 07/16/2009, -0/+16Dumbledore shot first.
- gunderoo, on 07/16/2009, -0/+15rumor has it that they're putting it in the opening for the next flick.
- Lkr721993, on 07/16/2009, -4/+18Went too far off the book for me
- MScrip, on 07/16/2009, -0/+14Isn't 12am on Wednesday... wait for it... WEDNESDAY?
- digitaldivinci, on 07/16/2009, -3/+16And on a Tuesday no less.
- RiotHeart, on 07/16/2009, -1/+14I'm wanting to see this. I have to re-watch every movie each time a new one comes out before I go to see it.
- Crash1337, on 07/16/2009, -1/+14Darth Vader is Luke's father
- Ddragonaaa, on 07/16/2009, -0/+11The part with the knitting patterns was in the book, though in the book he doesn't take it with him, just reads it.
I agree with the sentiment of enjoying a movie for what it is instead of just comparing it with the book. As such, I has a very enjoyable movie-going experience. - cyrix, on 07/16/2009, -1/+12Semi-spoiler below.........
I cannot ***** believe they cut the funeral scene. I was pissed as hell. - johnwes16, on 07/16/2009, -0/+10Saw bruno last night and when I came out there was a very long line of people waiting to see the movie. Not only did they do midnight showings, but the latest showing was at 3:15am.
- Falldog, on 07/16/2009, -2/+12Every movie has a bad review. You've proved nothing.
- thehuntofdear, on 07/16/2009, -0/+9Also, I was really sad they left out the first epic wizardry battle between deatheaters & co. versus Hogwarts staff after Dumbledore dies.
- Akaricloud, on 07/16/2009, -0/+9"Warners delayed the release of "Prince" from November to July to boost its boxoffice prospects for this summer."
Is there a bigger possible insult to fans of a movie? Delaying a movie by over half a year because you want it to make more money. I mean honestly was there ever any doubt that this movie would make a profit?
For the record, I'm not a fan of the franchise (I don't dislike it either) but when a company like Warner pretty much flip off a bunch of tweens/teenagers who have probably been in love with this series for more then half their life, well lets just say I believe there should be a point where they are rewarded for their loyalty and love for something rather then being forced to wait another 8? months so the production company can make more money. - InfinitySnatch, on 07/16/2009, -1/+10I'd see a doctor about that.
- X9001, on 07/16/2009, -4/+13In this one you get to see Emma Watson's boobs
- sulthernao, on 07/16/2009, -0/+7http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/harry_potter_and_t ...
90% so far with NYTimes being the few rottens. - anaclagon, on 07/16/2009, -1/+8Snape is a good guy!
- GamerXR72, on 07/16/2009, -0/+7FYI, the book is always better. It doesn't matter what movie you are talking about.
- cowman80i9, on 07/16/2009, -0/+7She shows cleavage
- tidu, on 07/16/2009, -0/+7Technically, yes, but you could argue that one's "day" ends when they rest for the night. Do you say that you're going out to the bar Friday night or Saturday morning?
- inactive, on 07/16/2009, -0/+5This really shouldn't surprise anyone. The original delay made people want to see it more. Don't be surprised if this makes it to the top 5 all time box office.
- SimplySteller, on 07/16/2009, -0/+5I was there!
- SirNoobius, on 07/16/2009, -0/+4lies
- thehuntofdear, on 07/16/2009, -1/+5Like many of you are, I'm sure, I am a big fan of the books. I went to the premiere last night and must say the audience seemed rather banal, laughing at non-funny parts riotously and overly enjoying the romantic development (which I think felt very contrived - bad acting during those scenes maybe?).
Overall though, fairly good and I didn't go in expecting to be amazed so I am happy. Wish I got more sleep. - chiefbandit2200, on 07/16/2009, -0/+4It's really not as confusing as the OotP film was. I hardly remember the book and I only saw the OotP once (at midnight last year...), but I thought the plot of the Half Blood Prince was pretty easy to follow.
- JekJob, on 07/16/2009, -4/+7That's suprising.
From the NY Times review of the movie:
"Unlike the veterans, notably the sensational Alan Rickman, who invests his character, Prof. Severus Snape, with much-needed ambiguity, drawing each word out with exquisite luxury, bringing to mind a buzzard lazily pulling at entrails, Mr. Radcliffe in particular proves incapable of the most crucial cinematic magic. Namely the alchemical transformation of dialogue into something that feels like passion, something that feels real and true and makes you as wild for Harry as for all those enticingly dark forces." - chiefbandit2200, on 07/16/2009, -0/+3That's pretty much how I feel about all the Harry Potter films.
If you're a fan of the books, then you're most likely going to enjoy the books more than the films. And if you really didn't enjoy this film, then Harry Potter movies probably aren't for you (and you probably didn't like the other films either...). - tidu, on 07/16/2009, -0/+3"superfluous pretentious review"
tl;dr: Daniel Radcliffe didn't act well. - sulthernao, on 07/16/2009, -0/+3Well it was in the book and used for comedic value (just like the book).
- Dodobutt222, on 07/16/2009, -0/+3In this one she HAS boobs
- MScrip, on 07/16/2009, -0/+3Technically or not... Harry Potter still opened on Wednesday.
- Brooks007, on 07/16/2009, -0/+3Everyone in my theater was laughing. The weird thing is there were no kids in the theater it was only adults and a few teens.
I think it is the best Potter film. - inactive, on 07/16/2009, -6/+9Snape kills him.
- CleoQKazoo, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2this sounds lame but went I was at the Deathly Hallows opening I wore my headphones for fear of such things
- Brooks007, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2only because your an idiot and you already knew he was not evil.
- NJSlacker, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2trying not to spoil anything.
in some ways, I agree with you, especially the scene at the Burrow at christmas. But other times there were details in the movie directly taken from the book that I had completely forgotten about. - GamerXR72, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2It could also be that every year, more people exist than the previous year. Even if ticket prices didn't increase, people would.
- inactive, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1"But Dumbledore asked him to!"
- inactive, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1I dunno, i thought the movies thus far have been fairly good to the books.
- inactive, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1Thats would probably be a better opening scene than the last book would have had anyway.
Are they still creating two movies out of the last book? - ATrueRoman, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1 I'm sure the average price of a ticket is higher now than even a year ago, but this film didn't make $22 M by ONLY selling $12 tickets,
- cghambright, on 07/22/2009, -0/+1Some of that is DEFINITELY my money! I saw it at midnight along with the other 2500 people that were at the midnight release I went to. It was so much fun! This movie wasn't as action-packed as the others (but neither is the book it's based on) so it's not a good movie to see at midnight if you've only had 4 hours of sleep, but I still loved it!
- thehuntofdear, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1In Norfolk? Someone said that's classic in my theater in norfolk.
- inactive, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1That cause people skip the positives and read the negatives. Anything for a few extra reads i guess.
