- element21, on 10/11/2008, -2/+33No one here in Australia has any general interest in the movie "Australia' either. Don't worry.
- AmyVernon, on 10/11/2008, -2/+19Can I say that I have no interest in "Australia" whatsoever? Am I the only one? (And I generally like the two actors and really love the nation of Australia.)
- Auran98, on 10/11/2008, -1/+17There's a movie coming out called Australia?
News to me...
(melbourne, vic) - Sornos, on 10/11/2008, -0/+13From way things are going the Day the Earth Stood Still remake is looking a lot like the new War of the Worlds. They aren't crappy films, but they totally miss all the subtleties the originals had.
If the DtESS is excellent, I'll be surprised. - orangesims, on 10/12/2008, -0/+9you're more then welcome.. but eeer.. there's not really anything in the outback... a couple farms, a few people, fair few sheep.... and a continent-load of red sand.
P.S.
bring your own water.. we're runnin out fast over here - waynehoggett, on 10/12/2008, -2/+11I can't believe they named a movie after our beautiful country... Couldn't they call it Outback Australia or something? This movie WILL NOT symbolise Australia.
- zerton, on 10/12/2008, -0/+8I really like the Australia font. My girlfriend and I have a pact that if ***** goes down here in the US we're moving to the outback.
- GiJoeBob, on 10/12/2008, -1/+7Wow, those posters are amazingly average.
- username7410, on 10/11/2008, -1/+7Is this The Matrix 4, or Point Break 2?
- blackmesa, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6You're more than welcome to come here!
Just keep an eye out for dropbears; many tourists who don't know better are commonly injured/killed by them every year. - avatarpalin, on 10/12/2008, -0/+51 - 9 most poisonous snakes. The most poisonous spider. Weather that will cook eggs on car bonnets.
....and we have no water.
Come on down!! And bring some beer - MiddleOfNowhere, on 10/12/2008, -1/+6If you refer to the D.T.E.S.S. poster: That's German, genius.
And if anyone cares/wonders: 11.12.08 = December 11, 2008; this is DD.MM.YYYY country. :)
Personally, after seeing the trailer I am afraid they will slaughter a classic in the name of a cheap buck. Just watch the original 1951 trailer at IMDB - if you think Excellent Ted has enough charisma to replace Michael Rennie (the original Klaatu) - well, have fun. I'm not holding my breath for this one. - avatarpalin, on 10/12/2008, -1/+5Hear Hear...
Jesus there are allot of ads for Body Of Lies in here!! - Hobbes24, on 10/12/2008, -1/+5i hope Gort still looks ***** ridiculous in the remake
- LeviTheSmith, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4I'm 16 now but when I was younger I watched the original The Day The Earth Stood Still and loved it(yes we have old films on VHS).
I hope the new one will be good. - GeckoSlayer, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4My best mates house got knocked down so that they could shoot most of this film, only got $250,000 for the house, when retail value put it at $360,000. Up in Bowen, North Queensland.
- mbradbury, on 10/12/2008, -0/+3And some really big mines where you can earn $120,000 a year driving a train.
- obilon, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2Not really that DIGG worthy if you ask me. But Jennifer Connelly is smoking so maybe that's the point? Or that Keanu Reeves is a doofus? Or perhaps there's something useful in juxtaposing the films Australia against The Day The Earth Stool Still? I'm confused on this one.
- opiniastrous, on 10/12/2008, -1/+3Actually, I think it might be alright. I heard about it a while ago and had to restrain myself from groaning, but the trailer made me doubt myself.

I've got an eye for good movies (at least, I know what I like) and combined with the fact Baz Luhrmann pretty much has to try to make a bad movie if he wants to, you might be surprised!
PS: I'm pretty confused as to how this made the front page... - inactive, on 10/11/2008, -1/+3ugh
- overt, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2Since I reformatted recently, as I write this post I'm surrounded by them. Time to install adblock again.
- abrasion, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2I saw a TV segment on it, it's essentially a very long advertisement for tourism Australia or some crap, apparently we need more tourists - who knows.
- Farcanell, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2It'll leave us spewing green and gold bile...
- migshark, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2Jesus Avatar you're right, I've got 3 ads on this one page (no adblock coz i'm using Chrome).
And yeah, I'm in Australia too - no interest. - drexl, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2I think it's the Pointrix.
- oneoverzero, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2the aztek calender won't do anything. besides, it's 12/21/2012, not 12/12/08 or whatever
- brotherfranciz, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2Wow, I'm also in Melbourne - didn't know there are that many Aussies on Digg, let alone Melbournians...
I heard about the movie on TRS actually - saw the trailer, had no idea what was going on, but Baz Luhrmann seems to be a decent director.

Oh, by the way, I saw a couple of Australia trailers on TV recently - I must say I'm starting to get a bit more intrigued by it... - MainEvent007, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2Am I the only one that has no doubts that this remake is going to entirely miss everything about the original that made it amazing?
- RussellDovey, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2Bastards.
- nshady, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1I hope David Wenham's international profile continues to rise. He's awesome.
- migshark, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1This is very educational if you want to come to Australia lol: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=wy_TB6onHVE

- chaos86, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1Where is tasmania again (on the tiny Australia map)?
- harlequinade, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1Hollywood's worst idea since.....well, yesterday at least?!
- bigysmalls, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1I initially read this as Posters For The Day The Earth Stood Still & New Zealand. Strange how the mind works sometimes.
- inactive, on 10/13/2008, -1/+1Ugh.
That joke is so ***** old - MardigrasMadnes, on 10/13/2008, -0/+0Looks good. Somewhat different from the North American poster.
- orangesims, on 10/12/2008, -2/+2first i've heard of this "Australia" movie. and after reading the short description, i'm not sure i wanted to.
sounds like "Titanic" all over again, making a particular moment in history into a "romantic action".. WTF?!
(Melbourne, VIC also) - utterponce, on 10/12/2008, -0/+0decidedly average.
- pangiya, on 10/12/2008, -1/+0Note the poster date on The Day the Earth Stood Still. Nice marketing, guys. Now lets hope the Aztec Calendar is wrong so we can see it.
- EmileVictor, on 10/12/2008, -3/+2I just don't get the trailer... Epic movie scenes with explosions and titanic music.
It's ***** outback ***** nowhere, this ***** is not representative.
(Bris, AU) - trezel, on 10/12/2008, -3/+0hi ....... how are you .......... sing in www.algeria4best.tk
