- dagobah77, on 10/11/2007, -8/+90I thought it was worth my money...
- Actual consumer - OneManArmy, on 10/11/2007, -5/+81I watched it yesterday and have to say the CGI in this movie is sick. The story was hard to follow at times, but overall I enjoyed it. Johnny Depp aced like usual.

As an amateur actor, writer, and filmmaker I'd like to let you know you've full of *****. I've enjoyed everything from Citzen Kane to Lord of The Rings, Don McKellar's "Last Night" to Adam Agoyan's "The Sweet Hereafter", Gus Van Sant's "Last Days" to "Ghostbusters", or "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligary" to "The Bicycle Theif" and you know what? Sometimes a movies is supposed to be nothing more than pure unadulterated fun, and Pirates of the Caribean is pure unadulterated fun.
In summary take your ego and shove it. - titlesaysitall, on 10/11/2007, -1/+60Wait, are you that one guy on YouTube, who makes those 30 second clips and won't get off his high horse?
- standalonematt, on 10/11/2007, -8/+57Refresh your member? Is that like playing with your Wii?
- neel360, on 10/11/2007, -1/+48You're forgetting, this is Digg. Our members are always at the ready...
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+45what films have you made?
- smokespliffz, on 10/11/2007, -2/+44.....rip....
- Flummoxer, on 10/11/2007, -2/+40It wasn't that great, but it wasn't terrible. The first one will always be the best in my opinion, mainly cause it didn't have as much supernatural crap.
- ChromaVita, on 10/11/2007, -1/+35I don't think you know the definition of literally...
- DariusMonsef, on 10/11/2007, -2/+35If you go watch this... refresh your member by watching #2 first... otherwise you'll be lost.
- saethone, on 10/11/2007, -0/+30In fact they were filmed simultaneously.
- cquinnd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+28Before or after the credits?
- Rfriaz, on 10/11/2007, -9/+37jstohler: you remind me of those critics that are always claiming abstract art is not art.
- gormenghast, on 10/11/2007, -0/+27"It's just... Good business"
- gulpy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+26You know, having an account on youtube with that little "director" icon, doesn't make you a film maker.
- cquinnd, on 10/11/2007, -2/+21The third movie wouldn't have been possible without the storyline, character development and plot elements established in the second.
I heard they were pretty much filmed back to back. - themarq, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18@chromavita
Welcome to the Internet. Enjoy the free pie and bad grammar. - eleven, on 10/11/2007, -4/+22Good thing you didn't see spider-man.... wow it sucked.
On-the-other-hand I really enjoyed Pirates 3, I know it was long but they made it a very satisfying 3 hours. - KibibyteBrain, on 10/11/2007, -7/+25Well, better than looking awesome, the CGI was used well. It did not interfere with the story, but severed very well to support it. It seems Hollywood may have finally grown up to use special effects to complement the movie rather than act as a crowd bringer in and of them self. This was a great movie.
@jstohler Thanks for letting me know you hate my taste in movies. I probably hate your taste too. Regards. - KnightMareInc, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17but people dling movies is killing the industry!
- Shuk, on 10/11/2007, -4/+19I thought the movie was awesome. A truly epic tale of pirates, full of humor, swashbuckling, epic ship battles, and spectacular locales. Barbossa and Sparrow were incredibly fun to watch on screen. And Keith Richards made an awesome cameo! I can't see why people can't just lighten up and enjoy this film. It's a movie about PIRATES for god sakes, its supposed to have tons of treachery, swashbuckling, and "yaaarrr". The plot is a bit convoluted, but if you pay attention it's rewarding. It's the most fun I've had at the movies this year! I'll have to disagree with the snooty critics on this one.
- JeffH, on 10/11/2007, -4/+18The filmed is being bashed to hell by critics, and having watched it I have to agree that it's a tad on the boring side (mostly due to it's length and overly complex plot for what's supposed to be an overall light-hearted movie like the first two). Still good though.
But the person who posted way above is right. People wonder why movies are becoming progressively worse, it's because people support average movies like At World's End, Shrek the Third and Spiderman 3 to the point where they break records for money-making. None of those movies are horribly bad, but none of them deserved what they got. - SamKellett, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13There was a deleted seen between Jones and Dia Dora that explained that if after 10 years the captain of the flying dutctress' lover is still faithful, the curse is lifted. The ending showed that Elizabeth remained faithful. Unfortunately without the Jones scene the end didn't make much sense.
- chancesarent, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12I literally ***** my pants in disbelief when I realized you don't know what literally means!
- olik, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11Is it just me or are these constant '[Movie] makes [$Xm] in opening weekend!!' titles completely stupid. I have no idea whether 126m is a lot for a movie like this (though I imagine it is). I get really tired of these headlines.
- roostersheep, on 01/16/2009, -1/+10Crap! I knew I should have waited. Anyone got the scene after the credits?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Ha, ha, "Actual Filmmaker". Only a total tosser would feel the need to identify himself as such.
-Digg Poster - markdr123, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Is that true? If so, why the heck would they have deleted it?
- uberlord, on 10/11/2007, -6/+15I didn't find the story difficult to follow at all, but I had lots of practice, with Heroes and SpiderMan 3 under me belt.
This movie was phenomenal, thousands of times better than the second, and at least twice as good as the first. The Davey Jone's locker scene, with the crabs, was absolutely perfect, it made up for any mistakes I was too impressed to notice throughout the rest of the movie... it was utter genius, I loved it. Of course, the final battle was a little overboard, especially the marriage, it was starting to look good, and then they began throwing in slashes between every single word... that was just too much... killing a bad guy after every sentence? sure, but at least let them get through a few syllables =/
GO SEE THIS MOVIE NOW. - Drull, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9I'm gonna wait for the 1950's punchcard version.
- MarrowMan, on 10/11/2007, -8/+16You mean CSI is *****? Black Hawk Down was *****? ***** OFF! I say good day to you sir.
- markdr123, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Also, what was with the knee-sex?
- grimstar, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10Hold that thought till you see Spiderman 3.
- ericdano, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11I'll wait for the DVD...........
- lordsteve, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8played in theaters
- lordsteve, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8The question is how much it COST. if it costs $130 million and they only made $126 million then they lost $4 million dollars. I wouldn't say that's greedy.
- xXShadowstormXx, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10IMO, the third movie completely owns the second one. I thought the 2nd one was/is disappointing.
- Bega, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8dude, that's like saying "worst piss I've drank all year, I did not drink piss this year"
- noots, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9he reminded me of those movie critics no-one actually takes any notice of, but still get paid anyway.
- reed311, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Congratulations to everyone who shares in Disney's profits. Otherwise...... so what?
- EPhibian, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6The story for "At World's End" has not been completely written when shooting started, and trust me, it shows. I am concerned the writers may have dislocated a few arms due to the reaches they had to make to keep the story going.
- Stunn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Box Office Mojo, a site I tend to trust, said the movie costs $300 million to make.
http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=piratesofthecaribbean3.htm
The movie also made $142,055,000 over the weekend cutting short of Spider-Man 3's weekend. - ps3udov3ctor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I'm at work right now. should I go see it instead?
- gulpy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Sucked.
- opnickc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Pirates 3 was NOT a 'quickie'. And the rather confusing plot and whatnot didn't really match what you're saying either.
But I see your point. - bmcnally, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6That would explain more about why Dave has a stick up his ass as well.
- specialK16, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Did anyone notice that the kid from the beginning of the movie was wearing braces??? (and no, it wasn't pirate teeth, he was wearing braces)
- lordsteve, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6. . . actually, a less complicated story would take _less_ time
- asurroca, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5@atezun:
Those are some great movies you listed there, man. To add to that, I'm a film student, I've seen all the great films, and I like the whole Pirates franchise. It's a blockbuster about Pirates! Who the hell expects it to be artsy?
That said, I hope Pirates 3 makes another billion at the worldwide box office just to shut failed art students like jstohler up... again. ;) -
