Pirates of Silicon Valley Released on DVD!
amazon.com — One of my favorite movies of all time has finally come to DVD! If you haven't seen Pirates of Silicon Valley I *highly* recommend it to a technophile in any degree...
- 1206 diggs
- digg it
- ratatask, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1An ad for a movie at amazon.com ? Come on !
- jonnymj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Its amazing that a made for TV movie touched so many people just because the subject matter is close to geeks hearts! Why dont people feel this way about Terminal Invasion??? =D
- wbrendel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is more of a reminder than an ad, for people like me who forgot about the DVD's release. If you recall, the original story about this from 3 weeks ago generated nearly 1200 diggs.
http://www.digg.com/movies/Pirates_of_Silicon_Valley_DVD_will_be_released_on_August_30th - clubgus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1II just love how Bill Gates was forced to wear Apple clothing on stage, and how crazy Steve Jobs was in some of the scenes such as his confrontation with the Apple employees, out the film I felt Steve Wozniak was the nicest and the brains at Apple computers. excellent portrayal of computing history highly recommended
- IHaveIssues, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dugg - just because I enjoyed the movie as well.
- caldroun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Favorite move of all time?" - I don't know if I would go that far....but I liked it.
- fruityt2001, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Smart person using an amazon ad link
- tacojohn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Can I get this movie from somewhere else or only on Amazon?
- billyboobs34, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone have a special digg discount? Come on, I love this movie!
- Lindsay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1....at least show a site with good deals. This is Digg after all!
http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=WBD006996 - danielroop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Without causing to much of a dispute...I would like to pose a question to all those dupe warriors. Kevin Rose Dugg this story...but he also dugg the original story. Now the question is, did he forget that he dugg the other one, or is he for dupes? Maybe dupe's are okay if it has been long enough, and you want to remind people of the news. Just curious.
- p0ZiXXX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Gee, you mean no one has ripped it and upped the torrent?
:-) - generalleoff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They aren't dupes. One old said "will be released" and this one said it is released. It's kinda weak on new information beyond reminding those that might have forgot the movie was coming out by saying the movie is now out, but it is NOT a dupe.
I'm pretty sure Kevin Rose can tell the difference. - arewhyfour, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey, what's so wrong with him using an ad link, if your going to buy it why not just go through him. I mean after all he did tell us it was released to DVD.
- arewhyfour, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oh, also, I believe that when "Kevin Rose" diggs something it's automated. Because if it's not he diggs stuff at like 24hours a day. But we all know he has a BUSY schedule.
- duranracing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Made me hate m$ even more.AArrgh
- billyboobs34, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Torrent... why? I already have a digital copy of the movie. Now I want the DVD also.
Listen up MPAA, I will download any movie I want (just like going to the video store or my local library except with a much larger selection than the both of them). If I like a movie then I will probably purchase the DVD.
The same applies to the RIAA. I will download whatever I want (just like listening to it on the radio or borrowing the CD from my local library, but again the internet comes to the rescue with a much larger selection where I can hear any song in its entirety.) If I like it enough I will buy it. Or import the god damned CD from europe because music stores that aren't online don't carry a large enough selection. I don't care if what I do is illegal, as it is morally right! - danielroop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i Retract my statment. Thanks for the clearification generalleoff.
And as for...
"oh, also, I believe that when "Kevin Rose" diggs something it's automated. Because if it's not he diggs stuff at like 24hours a day. But we all know he has a BUSY schedule."
That is an interesting though, I wonder if it is true... - b04155, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0billyboobs34, check
- WorldBuilder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ummmmmmm...
I'm pretty sure that POSV was on DVD over a year ago... - generalleoff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0In pirated form yes. I have a bootleg DVD as well.
- antiwmac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0kool
- wbrendel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I got it from pirate bay, but the quality was roughly VHS. I'm looking forward to buying this.
- neonicacid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'd like to extend a personal thanks to everyone who digged this story, including Kevin Rose. Thanks to all of you, this has become my 'Most Digged Story' and I couldn't have done it without you. I realize that this is a 'semi-dupe', but I thought it was worth a post, just because it's one of my favorite movies..
Thanks again to all of you..
~Neonicacid - bedouin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This movie just verifies that I'm on the good side.
- Dhalgren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sweet, Netflix has it finally. I went looking for this on Netflix a few weeks ago, funny how that works out...
- althe3rduww, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It really shows how microsoft isn't made up of innovative techies but rather aggressive business men. I certainly explains why microsoft has still done nothing other than copy apple for decades now.
Scene in movie:
Gates: "Balmer! why hasn't windows shipped yet!?"
Balmer: "We aren't finished yet, its not stable."
Gates: "Do I have to remind you apple is already shipped with these features."
Real life in Microsoft Vista Offices:
Gates: "Balmer! why hasn't windows shipped yet!?"
Balmer: "We aren't finished yet, its not stable."
Gates: "Do I have to remind you apple is already shipped with these features." - forceflow2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks for the story, I would have completely forgotten about this until quite a while later. Too bad it won't ship for 7-10 days :-(
- macgabriel87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0go STEVE JOBS! whoop bill gate's ass!
- jordanagbor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0arggh, netflix has me on short wait
- geoboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ althe3rduww
Hahaha... so true, so true :) - mfarley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Fantastic. Bumped it up to number 1 on my Netflix Queue.
- InterWeb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I ordered it from Amazon a couple months ago, it's a great movie, it should be here today.
- thecrow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah I think I'm gonna go pick it up today if they have it at WalMart if not I gottta wait to go to Virgin or something.
- scotty588, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0waiting for the dvdrip release on piratebay
- iamsjn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just bought this at Best Buy for $14.99
I've been wanting this flick for ages!! The only bummer is a noticable lack of any special features. Some commentaries would've been pretty cool as well as some behind the scenes footage.
But oh well, thats small stuff. I'm just glad it's finally out!!
SjN - tacojohn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just picked it up from Best Buy as well. Watched it already- great movie.
I wonder what parts are true... - -neon-, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So did it end up in 16:9 on the DVD??
- tacojohn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So did it end up in 16:9 on the DVD??
Nope. - scotty588, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Netflix has a queue of 39 or so although it says "short wait"
- ScottyQuest, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's in my apartment right now baby! Live it up... then steal the things you notice along the way.
- scotty588, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0By the way a dvdrip has been released on bit torrent.
- Geekzta127, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i noticed ;) i have it, great movie. makes you feel like you want to choke someone. ehem *coughbillcough*
