- 0zzy, on 10/12/2007, -9/+22Vagina.... warm vagina.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Well if it is from the director of "Run Lola Run"...what the hell am I waiting for!!??
- jonathantneal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12It's hard to justify the $10, yes, but don't you wanna know why that building collapsed / blew up? Seriously, I bet a lot of people will go ... just because of that! They'll think to themselves "something important enough to collapse a building will happen". I think all movies should have a clip like that, even if it's just a dream the hero has or something. Dang, I gotta find out why that building explodes.
- joshposh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10The book ("Das Parfüm") is one of the most popular books at all here in Germany. I saw the film a month ago... it's okay but since they have to cut a lot out of it I recommend to read the book in anyway.
- SelfAbortion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Run to the theater. We'll all wait here and watch the different things that might have happened to you on the way to get money for your ticket.
- ventro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Good trailer, though the song at the end felt kinda outta place. Not every movie should be marketed as some epic coming.
- joshposh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Yepp, it's a German book. It was written by Patrick Süskind and published in 1985.
- mumblingmynah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The Nirvana song "Scentless Apprentice" is based on this book.
- galore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Can you imagine being born in 18th century France with a super-nose??
Talk about a curse ! - manfesto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If you're a reader, you should read Tom Robbins's "Jitterbug Perfume" - you may find it interesting how something as trivial as perfume (at least to most of us) can really become a great vessel for pushing an epic story forward.
Speaking of reading - I may have to read this book before I see this movie! - japface, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5if anything that rich girl at the end looks hot.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6rated R? the first half of that trailer trailer almost makes it out to be a kids movie O_o
- epitaphic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4So if the guy had an extraordinary sense of smell, why did he need to get within 2 inches of people?
- MrBabyMan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Looks like oil in the trailer. Probably ambergris or something like that. Creepy, in any case.
- Avogadro65, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Well you Germans also love Hasselhoff, so I'm not sure your taste can be trusted.
That being said, I loved (and own) Run Lola Run. - DBCA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wow, I'd never thought of perfume as anything important, but this trailer really sells the idea. Compelling!
- NightRush, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Looks like a solid movie
Am I the only one impressed at the rate and quality those trailers are streamed at? - IvanB, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4'in oil". I read the book and that seems wrong..
- maledei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3not a very good movie, i hate to say. solid film-making but not good. Tom Tykwer composed the flamboyant score and it really goes on your nerves after a while. the second major flaw is a narrator who constantly babbles throughout the movie, spelling out everything a good director would have told through the pictures.
- ramibaj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If you read the book I think you would agree with the music. certain moments in the story are quite "epic".
- etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I read the Patrick Suskind book about 10 years ago... and I loved it. I don't know how well the character's insane infatuation with scent will translate onto film, however. The degree to which he is sensitive to smell, and the degree to which he obsesses over it, are truly amazing in words.
- OpCzar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Was it orignally in german, then?
- jblade, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I never read the book, and this is nto my type of movie, but the trailer makes it look awesome.
- gk128, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The book is supposed to be really good. It's on my to read list.
I can't wait to see the movie, but I am for sure going in knowing the book will be the better of the two. - ensomnia, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Wow, the title and the general idea seems so lame, but after seeing the trailer, I acutally really want to see this, hope it's gonna be out within this year.
- tinkertoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Trailer looks great...hope the movie doesn't stink...argh.
- ChuckL01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Elbart..."You haven*t seen it yet, stuoopad usians, nanananananana ;D
Gotta wait until late December. HAHAHAHAH :D"
Not if you're a pirate ;^)
French language version available. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ambergris is the base of most perfumes...
- Mand0lesi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@manfesto
I too have read Jitterbug Perfume and I recommend it those with an open mind! - Bitgod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2snork, I'm glad I wasn't drinking when I read that.
- bushy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Tone of the trailer is way off. Everything about the book was on a tiny, detailed, scale, very specific. Epic it is not.
What's with the overuse of exclamation points in these threads? You wont be quoted! - Miyazaki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2December 27th
- jacenat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the movie is running for a few weeks here in austria (heavy media coverage due to the autor being german ...) and its not that good.
- ericeman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I rented Run Lola Run, watched it twice (once in English than once in German), and bought it the next day--- and watched it again. A great movie.
Than I rented something else of Tykwer's and just really had to turn it off... wasn't quite as cool as Lola was. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, a troll who doesn't put any effort into appreciating a potentially good flick. Haven't we seen this guy a few times before already? I bet he's a ***** douchebag in real life, too.
- maledei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1french? come on. have you never heard anyone speak french or german?
- OpCzar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Very macabre and the actor that plays Snape (Alan Rickman) is in it too! I likes it.
Just wish they announced an actual release date. - Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Very, very creepy........but that's not a bad thing at all :)
- Elbart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You haven*t seen it yet, stuoopad usians, nanananananana ;D
Gotta wait until late December. HAHAHAHAH :D - Cbaar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think it is going to be a nice historical film.
Rammstein's "Du riechst so gut" is really related to Patrick Süskind's "Das Parfüm"? That seems to me like Britney Spears singing about the Ainulindale. - ineser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1omg looks cool, very promising indeed
- IvanB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yep, and it's quite accurate. It's the only song on In Utero that Kurt Krist and Dave wrote togheter, I think.
- phytonix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1women does not smell like perfume and killed women bodies will not create scent. BS.
- Dezynergod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Read the book first. The ending is amazing. I hope it translates well in the film.

- sierracharlie, on 12/17/2008, -0/+1very interesting find http://EASYHELPYOU.INFO
- ka2err, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1> The book is supposed to be really good. It's on my to read list.
You should read the book first then, it's not very long. Otherwise you might spoil the ending for you.
I still remember the last sentence, it's wonderful and disturbing. - brombie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The book is phenomenal. It has the right amount of fantasy/sci-fi/horror with a truly macabre ending. It's thinner than any of the Harry Potter's books so do yourself a favor and get a copy of it. Chances are you won't regret it.
I'm looking forward to the movie. I'm curious to see how Tykwer will translate the description of smells into the big screen. You can see a glimpse of this from the trailer as Dustin Hoffman smelled the concoction and we hear his narration while his surrounding morphed into a flower garden. - ka2err, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1> Everything about the book was on a tiny, detailed, scale, very specific.
This is a very good analysis of an aspect of what's wrong with the movie
Actually the movie is a good movie in itself but does not not meet the expectations you have if you read the book.
It's a film about noses, not about the smell. -
