- GNiMeLF, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8i was there, It was filmed in Melbourne Australia, i worked on the pre-production team. finding the locations for them to film on =D was awesome fun being paid to find pine forests/tall forests around Victoria shame its all ended now :(
- Ignathius, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1OMG i LOVED this book as a child. can't friggin wait :)
- Idgit, on 10/11/2007, -5/+71Something interesting on MTV? What is the world coming to...
- Vicille, on 10/11/2007, -7/+6Says the dude with a Family Guy avatar.

- SpoonMachine, on 10/11/2007, -10/+7On the other hand, I'm gonna be pissed if I don't get ***** up right before I see this movie.
- TalkingBanana, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2amen to that
- chrismccorkle, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2This isn't a Spike Lee Joint. Don't worry
- Ayatollah, on 10/11/2007, -16/+4I kinda was hoping for a mature-themed film remake of the book with dark and trippy themes (like Pan's Labyrinth)...I
- spudfrog, on 10/11/2007, -8/+0Considering this is a screenshot from a video....um....how about linking the video?
- xerus, on 10/11/2007, -9/+3Holy *****... awesome. I would write more, but digg will probably tell me that my session expired.
- nomeus, on 10/11/2007, -3/+28the story is so short, they will have to add to it since the whole thing can be read in about one minute, two if you look at the artwork.
- orangester, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6I'm sure they'll work in some crazy backstory about Max and his lack of social skills or something. Great childrens book I hope they don't ruin it.
- bagboyrebel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1They did it with Jumanji.
- millinao, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Also with Polar Express.
- NeonElixir, on 10/11/2007, -4/+43Please be good.
Please be good. - Viva43, on 10/11/2007, -4/+18Connection! My godfather was working on this film, they made it in and around Melbourne. He was something to do with marine stuff.
Because you all care no doubt...- ,,|,_, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Could it be the part where "Max sails through a day and in and out of weeks and almost over a year..."
One of my son's favorite books so we read it at least three times a week.- Zuggy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5dugg for reading to his kids and a cool username
- ,,|,_, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Could it be the part where "Max sails through a day and in and out of weeks and almost over a year..."
- ModernTenshi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7I loved this book! I played Max in my Kindergarten's spring play of the book. This is friggin' awesome.
‘And the wild things roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws’.- Eliza101, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Holy crap, I played Max in MY kindergarten's play! Actually, I played "Maxie," since I was uncomfortable playing a boy (I'm a girl) in front of my crush. Good times, those.
- zybch, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I have a friend who worked in the construction shop of this film. I'll see if I can get some of the illicit pics he took up on the net and post them here.
- RobotChicken1, on 03/07/2008, -6/+1I didn't know they were making a movie out of this book.
- fromonesource, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4this is gonna be wild, I can't wait
- ldbjr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Interesting. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I know nothing can replace the impact this book had on my 8 year old mind. This was one of the books I used to beg my mom to read to me, and I was lucky enough that she would do it, night after night. Even though this was just a small children's book consisting mainly of illustrations, I'm afraid this film will be just like every other piece of literature that I've loved that when turned into celluloid (or into bits and bytes in today's world) pales in comparison.
- wiihuck, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4is there a movie in the works for 'in the night kitchen'? that would be ..... awkward.
- cmatteson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3lol...my 4 year old daughter picked the "Night Kitchen" book out at the library last week. We sat down to read it before she went to bed, and about half way through this book...my reading cadence got slower and slower...and in my mind I'm thinking, "what tha..." I walked out to my wife holding the book, looking confused, and she was like..."oh, yeah...I wasn't planning on reading that to her." Awkward to say the least.
- OdepiTy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1its down, can someone post it elsewhere?
- leontes, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1http://duggmirror.com
- lgc90, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/534/imageuploadimagecm5.jpg
- SkaAgent11, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11This movie is going to be amazing. Spike Jonze is one of the more interesting new directors of the time and really has a knack for capturing imagination and surrealism in his works. Fantastic children's book and I have no doubt Spike Jonze will translate it well.
- Szandor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Whew! I thought it said Spike *Lee* there for a second.
- ncapone, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Bringing this movie to live action takes away some of the mysticism of the original artwork.
- BrownV, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16For some reason when I see Spike Jones I always think of Spike Lee. And when I saw this I was like wtf. Spike Lee makes where the wild things are
- foofightrs777, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Please don't ruin another of my childhood memories...Please?
- 450bigblock, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Looks good. Live action will be better than cgi in this case. It will make it seem more like the book, and it looks like he's staying close to the original from the looks of the pic.
- numbajohnny5, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2it will disappoint you if you watch it expecting the same effect the book had on you as a child
since it is being made I think that Spike Jonze is the perfect candidate for direction. he has helped with several of the Girl/Chocolate skateboard films(google it) and Being John Malkovich(sp?) for the cinema release only folks here
his use of technology without overusing it is great - MrsaturnVI, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5this totally cheered me up, I was sent to bed without supper..... :(
- cmatteson, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Spike Jonze was slated to direct a live action film of Harold and the Purple Crayon a few years back, but after a great deal of time in preproduction, it was aborted. I was so ticked off...if anyone can pull off an amazing interpretation of a children's book, it'd be Spike. The Flaming Lips were supposed to do the soundtrack for the Harold film...I am so heartbroken that we'll never see how that would have turned out. I have total faith that Spike will do something amazingly good. I just don't want a bunch of people looking only at the bottom line dollar wise in control of a good children's book. We need not look any further than the horrible attempts that were the Seuss books put to celluloid. Is there anything wrong with making a simple, innocent, quiet, thoughtful movie? Why do these men in charge feel that our kids need flash and bang at every turn? I mean do we have to speed up everything to cater to the Robin Williams, rhesus monkey on crack attention span? I would also put the Polar Express up there with these offending movies. I understand the need to stretch a simple book into a feature film, but I think that it's odd to take a book with beautiful, yet simple drawings that seem to suggest, "sit back and quietly enjoy this", and throw millions of bucks to turn it into a "special effects extravaganza". I think I read more about the process that went into making the movie than the movie itself. When working on a good story takes a back seat to all the whistles and bells, they miss the point. Pixar understands this, and they make amazing, timeless classics, even with all the whistles and bells. But I don't think they ever go into the process thinking more about how to wow the audience than telling the story. There are so many amazingly interesting ways to animate a story or turn a good book into a good movie. I would like to throw down the gauntlet to Disney, and challenge them to think outside of the box, and make a children's movie without using computers, and without resorting to their signature style of their 90's animation films. I know they've ditched their classic animation style, but why? Has anyone seen The Danish Poet that won the Oscar this year? I understand this isn't necessarily a children's movie, but can't any of the big studios take a chance on some artists vision, and blow our minds with a great story being told in an innovative style? I hope this is amazing.

- cmatteson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Ummm, yeah, I know. I actually formatted this with paragraphs and all...and by the time I was done typing it, and submitted it, it was all removed. I was too tired to go through and place all the breaks in again. But...thanks for the statement Captain Obvious. Next you're going to tell me I was writing in english right? Or that the words read from left to right?
- kublerross, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"I just don't want a bunch of people looking only at the bottom line dollar wise in control of a good children's book."
welcome to capitalism- cmatteson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I understand how capitalism works, and I am all for making money. I just think that sometimes the powers that be underestimate the general population and what they are willing to accept. Every time a Bruckheimer movie makes a jillion dollars, I weep a little, but I think that for all of those, you have the numbers supporting quality family pictures like the Pixar bunch. My whole point is that you can do great quality, with artistic integrity that the masses will love...come on America...I'm trying to be an optimist, prove me right.

- stuma9000, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Spike Jones is probably the best director in the world for this film. After watching almost everything he's done I have a lot of faith.
- shinedout, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Agreed, Tim Burton an obvious second.
- veggiegalactic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3from the production clips I've seen (the sailing and through the woods scenes), it looks amazing. One of my favorite childhood books.
- fishgills, on 10/11/2007, -5/+0More proof hollywood has run out of ideas when they're doing 5 page children books. :D
- kyleh, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2o man i loved this book when i was younger, i don't know why but i did. so my hopes are high for a great film
- MercuryOne, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Dear Hollywood,
May I have my childhood back please?
Sincerely,
Everyone - abg442, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0This film had better be good, as it delayed the Lakai video. I'm not sure how I'll feel about WTWTA due to that fact.
- merdiesel, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1Personally, I would have preferred Tim Burton to do this film.
- TheFinaleofSeem, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I hope they try to go more the Jim Henson Creature Shop route rather than lathering on the CGI. The JHCS did an excellent job on the Vogons, so hopefully they could do the same for this flick. Maybe Sweetums will have a cameo.
Anyone know about this? - krowziviche, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Spike Jonze vs. Spike Lee...God, I'm just glad it isn't some M. Night Shyamalan nonsense with a stupid plot and a worse ending.
- videomeister, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Can we please get someone to make Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, that would make an awesome movie.
- merdiesel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2One of my favorite books growing up...
Would easily be one of the best stoner movies ever.
- merdiesel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2One of my favorite books growing up...

- nomadofthewaves, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Pan's Labryinth style would be badass!
- meekerunger, on 10/11/2007, -8/+1Spike Jonze is a tool and Hollywood is a fad that will go away within 10 years.
- kevlarbaboon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1What?
- asaturn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1what does that even mean?
- kevlarbaboon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1What?
- Gunsotsu, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Silly stupid Diggers, this picture's been around for a while. Hardly a first look.
- Djurkinthebox, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I know it's based off the book, but I think Lars Ulrich will sue anyway.
- ophello, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1win
- seraph82, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1... are you kidding me? Why did they make a movie out of this? What's next? Hop on pop?
- timusca, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I'm holding out for "The Hungry Hungry Caterpillar".
- wordsthatendini, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Clifford the Big Red Dog FTW!
- 4eloBek, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1i will pirate when its out = i dont care
- z3rgRush, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Dugg for childhood awesomeness.
- krazy9000, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Is it just me, or is that pic from the Cinema Stand Up? I remember seeing it a couple weeks ago, back when I saw the Hulk stand up, the Iron Man stand up, and the Bat Pod thing. I'm calling BS on "MTV having the first pic" nonsense.
http://www.wizarduniverse.com/magazine/toyfare/004902727.cfm
Wizard seems to have had the first Pic. I knew MTV was still good for nothing. - chrismccorkle, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Oh HELL yes.
- shortmilton, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I loved this story as a child, discovered it at the dentist's office.Pitched a fit for my mom to buy it for me,which she did.She wore the pages out reading it to me.Now I've got a two year old,and he loves this story as well.I have read it to him many, many times. They best not screw it up making it into a movie.Somebody could get their ass whooped over our favorite story gettin' screwed up.
- Slayz0r, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3It's based on a book you say? huh..I wasn't aware that people who watched MTV could read.
- jackorilla, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1And then Max Cried "Let the Wild Rumpus Begin"
