- inactive, on 01/11/2009, -3/+44Recast Christian Bale as The Joker because Bale can do whatever the ***** he wants because he's such a legend, and cast Clint Eastwood as Batman.
- Jeepy, on 01/11/2009, -1/+36Take two quotes out of context, fill in non sequitur, add a dash of conjecture to prove your speculative nonsense, slap it all on an MTV blog and voila the perfect fluff piece. Buried for being tripe and trying to pass off red carpet blips as news.
- kismetropolis, on 01/09/2009, -1/+29I think Heath did an extraordinary job, and it was nice to see they stuck to Batman's methods of NOT killing (the villains in the bat movies of the 90s all died except Catwoman). But it's going to take one heck of an actor to outdo Heath's performance.
Willing to at least entertain the notion. - shutaro, on 01/09/2009, -0/+26He'd be better cast as the Joker's attorney.
- meed, on 01/11/2009, -1/+27How about giving the Character a rest for a film or two? Now that they proved that someone could do as good or better than Jack Nickolson, how about destroying Danny Divito's portrayal of the penguin, Erase Jim Carey's Riddler, or broil the govenator's mr freeze? OR How about bringing out a character that has not been featured in a Batman film yet? Obviously the current guy playing batman desires to make a few more films, why not bring the Joker back later on his last film?
- redrabbit, on 01/11/2009, -0/+26As your attorney, I advise you to rent a very fast car with no top. And you'll need the cocaine. Tape recorder for special music. Acapulco shirts. Get the hell out of L.A. for at least 48 hours. Blows my weekend.
- Epik, on 01/11/2009, -3/+23Yes Heath did a great job, but there are other good others out there as well. Who knows, it might work out in the end.
- rukeypoo, on 01/11/2009, -13/+32No.
- shiftkgb, on 01/11/2009, -0/+15Christian Bale made a statement that if Robin was ever introduced he wouldn't do the film.
- shyguycasey, on 01/11/2009, -4/+17The character Heath plays in the upcoming "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" is also played by Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell, as Heath never finished filming.. I could see Depp pulling off a Joker
- inactive, on 01/11/2009, -4/+15"Heath Ledger would have wanted someone to replace him for a good story."
LOL, how the ***** do YOU know? - Phernoree, on 01/11/2009, -3/+13Joker recast: http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/j/msnbc/Components/Photo ...
- redrabbit, on 01/11/2009, -0/+10Robin won't be introduced because Bruce Wayne at this current point in the series is too young. Robin should come in much later, like when Batman is in his 40s or 50s
- ptknight, on 01/11/2009, -1/+11TDK? The audio cassettes are back?
- inactive, on 01/11/2009, -9/+19To all the idiots saying "No" - keep in mind you were the same people that uttered "WTF" when you found out it was him taking on the Joker along with a barrage of comments about how Nicholson was the best, blah blah blah.
Nolan's made good judgment calls thus far, so leave it alone.
It's just a movie. - onux16, on 01/11/2009, -6/+14Don Cheadle for Joker recast. Anyone?
(I'm going to regret ever writing this, knowing nobody will understand it. Bring on the pain!!!!) - androo002345, on 01/11/2009, -0/+8Ledger did great as the joker but all of this talk is getting so old.
Seriously...just CGI Ledger into the next film and let's call it a day. - georgemason01, on 01/11/2009, -0/+8I'd like some new villains...having Ra's al Ghul in Batman Begins was a good move. Bane would be my choice for another...but I guess I wouldn't mind a good female villain being redone (Catwoman or Poison Ivy).
- solid12345, on 01/11/2009, -0/+7Sounds like a scene from Pulp Fiction
"Goddammit Heath why'd you have to go off yourself like that man, how we gonna explain this to da fans? This is some ***** up repugnant ***** right here!" - opticwind, on 01/11/2009, -0/+7Well um...they did with the girl in TDK. Wasn't she recasted with no mention?
- FasmTrout, on 01/12/2009, -0/+7Eastwood certainly has the voice for it.
- L4Linux, on 01/11/2009, -4/+11Don't have another actor play Joker, for crying out loud!! Heath Ledger even outperformed the great Jack Nicholson, something that most thought impossible. No matter how good the new one will be, we 'll be probably left with the impression that he sucks compared to his predecessors.
- Zergvasion, on 01/11/2009, -0/+7Vin Diesel
- K2H7, on 01/11/2009, -2/+9Cheadle's replacing Terrence Howard as War Machine for the Iron Man sequels.
Buried for both preemptively attempting to avoid being dugg down by offering a comment which assumes people are too dumb to make the connection, and using a stupid phrase like "bring on the pain" with too many exclamation marks attached to the end. - opticwind, on 01/11/2009, -1/+7You know what? I have to say it. I think the Joker character, the re-imagining, was not 100% Ledger. Clearly they wanted a dark, brooding, crazy (Although "I'm not crazy...I'm not.) view of the character and Ledger took it over the top (in a great way). But I'll be honest, I've seen people in Halloween with the Joker costume and they can do a damn good impression of Ledger...so you're telling me nobody could at least adequately fill in Ledger's shoes? I don't buy it, I'm afraid.
Much like Downey Jr. in Iron Man, this character was good for being over-the-top. And that's not a difficult thing for an actor. - GeneParmesann, on 01/11/2009, -0/+6lolwut. Depp is phenomenally versatile and has a great look to pull off the Joker.
- danielsan1701, on 01/12/2009, -0/+6Eastwood would be a great old Batman, like in a Batman Beyond setting.
- Heiminator, on 01/11/2009, -1/+7even if you could make a perfect digital model of heath ledger, its the human being that is giving the performance...
- DrunkenPirate34, on 01/11/2009, -2/+8You make it sound as if your pissed at Heath?
- sugarazor, on 01/11/2009, -2/+8No idea why you're getting dugg down since you're absolutely right. The reaction to the announcement of Ledger was tepid at best and fanboy explosion at worst.
- palehorse864, on 01/11/2009, -1/+6I would love to see a new Batman film with the Joker and Harley Quinn.
- KaiUno, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5I wonder how far along they are with digital representation of dead actors.
- DThatsMe, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5Um... Sir, no part of that made any mention of re-casting joker.
Come on!! - inactive, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5omg how sad.
- Abomonog, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4Except the Joker was always the kingpin criminal. Even in the original series the Joker was the one that haunted Batman the most. Killing off the character that defines your hero is always a very bad move. Look at how Burtons Batman went south after Nicholsons Joker was killed off. Without the kingpin the other villains just didn't seem to have a coherent mission or any direction.
- starf, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4Jim Carrey's Riddler was actually locked away in Arkham in Batman Forever.
- Mnementh2230, on 01/12/2009, -0/+4I want to see Mark Hamil (Yes, Luke Skywalker) as the Joker. *HE* is the voice I hear in my head when I think "Joker", because he has the best laugh for it. He voiced The Joker in the Batman Animated Series, Superman/Batman, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited, as well as other places.
He can act, he has the voice, and he could pull it off, I'm sure. - woofers07, on 01/11/2009, -1/+5Heath's performance was amazing, leaving everyone wondering how it could be topped. I remember wondering how Batman Begins could be topped only to be blown away by TDK, I have faith in Nolan casting a very worthy actor for the Joker and am willing to bet it will surpass the expectations of the almost everyone and possibly even surprise a few people.
- glhf, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4Ouija board.
- Neiby, on 01/11/2009, -1/+5Sometimes actors do such a good job in a part that they define the role. Ledger did a truly amazing job as The Joker. It would difficult for someone else to step in and do that role convincingly in the near future, even if they did it well. We're too used to Ledger's version.
- crashingechelon, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4Looks wise I'd have to say yes. With what they can do with makeup in films he'd look identical to Ledger's Joker. Now where the issue lies is if he can pull off the voice and mannerisms that Ledger did.
- sugarazor, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4Ledger was always Nolan's one and only choice.
- Dalif, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4Not the first time I've seen it, but certainly the first time I've seen it where it fits so well. Dugg
- Lynxpro, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3Talia Al Ghul...Batman's true love. After all, Catwoman in recognized comics continuity has not birthed him an heir but Talia has. Damien Wayne.
- Wrathernaut, on 01/11/2009, -1/+4Script says Two-Face: DEAD.
He's really not that interesting as a villain anyway. - CoreyTamas, on 01/11/2009, -1/+4There are a lot of directions that Nolan could go with the next Batman movie... but recasting the Joker makes me nervous. There's a lot of other material he can draw from which would be powerful and memorable without having to walk that tight-rope.
- Neiby, on 01/11/2009, -1/+4That's a good point that I hadn't thought of. They might really have a need to re-cast The Joker and move on post-Ledger because it's what the long term story line requires. I suppose it just depends on the direction they want to take the story.
- TheWilder, on 01/11/2009, -4/+7No matter who they may try to recast as the Joker, if they do, it'll be virtually impossible to surpass or meet Heath's performance due to the great job he did and the circumstances. I would much prefer they move on either with new villains or possibly bring back Two-Face with them as well. Although Harvey's death may have been implied, they never explicitly said Two-Face was. During the final conversation between Batman and Gordon, they didn't talk about him like he died, and Batman still survived that fall without much trouble getting up.
I just think the Joker has been exhausted and it's time someone else had their turn. - Neiby, on 01/11/2009, -2/+5I couldn't stand what they did to his voice in TDK. It was annoying as freaking hell.
