- aethelberga, on 11/19/2008, -0/+92After reading the summary above, I was afraid the money was going to the woman who lost the 400K.
- NathanielJ, on 11/18/2008, -22/+96Digg is hilarious. In the article about the chick who lost $400k to the Nigeria scam, every comment is about how dumb she is and how her husband should leave, cheat on, and/or beat her.
In this article about how proceeds are going to someone else who lost money to the Nigeria scam, the comments are about how noble and great it is that they're helping out someone who lost money to the same scam.
Way to be able to think critically guys, and not just be taken in by the tone of the article. *eyeroll* - samasperu, on 11/18/2008, -0/+66Well, the guy lost 20 grand while the woman lost half million dollars over two years - she mortgaged the house, sold the car... I mean, *****, fool me once - shame on me, fool me twice - I am an idiot.
- charm803, on 11/19/2008, -0/+39Too bad no one is donating the money to the poor husband who got taken by the stupid bitch he married.....
- Gnarstache, on 11/19/2008, -1/+30what if it wasn't a scam?

- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+22This is a meta-scam isn't it?
- patpl22391, on 11/19/2008, -0/+19I do feel bad for the husband, however.
- wibrle, on 11/19/2008, -2/+20I don't think thats the way it goes, but lol. I agree
- lilhelper, on 11/19/2008, -0/+16How are we so sure this isn't a scam?
- samasperu, on 11/18/2008, -5/+20how come you have 27 diggs ever and no less than 720 retarded comments? Dude, get a life
- adcat, on 11/19/2008, -0/+15Not "unfortunate". Fortune has nothing to do for it. You're either greedy or clueless. Everyone was telling this lady not to go through with the money transfers. She didn't listen.
- NexTRaker, on 11/19/2008, -1/+16Wow it would even hurt to lose one buck
- Murdats, on 11/19/2008, -2/+17where there comments here when you wrote this that aren't here now?
as of this post you were the 6th person to comment, 1 of those is how its a stupid movie and none mention her or her husband. - Vindexus, on 11/19/2008, -2/+15You mean that one comment above you?
- quack, on 11/19/2008, -0/+13"PayPal is the most secure software in the world." - who is he kidding?
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+13Why are people who fail because of their own stupidity getting bail outs these days? God damn...
- str3ama, on 11/19/2008, -0/+12I find it hard to sympathize for anyone who falls for these scams, it's not about tech savvy - it's about street smarts and financial sense. I really don't think anyone I know is so gullible to throw a huge cash deposit at some guy they've never met who claims to be the ambassador of Nigeria's long lost twice removed son, and then continue to throw their life savings in large incremented deposits without any return on their investment during the course.
To the victims : It sucks, but ultimately you have no one else to blame but yourself. People will always try to scam you of your resources, if you fall for it out of your own accord - then it's your own fault, if they threaten you with violence or coercion or ransom I can understand - but in most of these cases - it's just pure greed that drives people to make such idiotic decisions. - hauntedchippy, on 11/19/2008, -0/+10@KMYe
From the original article it would appear that her husband, her bank manager and even the police were all telling her "This is a big scam! Stop sending them money" and apparently she refused to listen to them. And I would imagine it would take some sort of court ruling (declaring her insane or something) to prevent her from accessing the joint assets she shares with her husband.
The lesson here is, find out if your spouse-to-be has any mental problems BEFORE you marry. Or try out one of these fancy new pre-nuptial things. - Llanowar, on 11/19/2008, -0/+10Calling out a dupe isn't the most popular thing to do on Digg.
Calling out a dupe while it isn't a dupe...
I wonder how much you will be burried.
Learn to read. - drgkstep, on 11/19/2008, -0/+9This still seems like a itself scam to me.
- gyrfalcon, on 11/19/2008, -1/+10Why is it a great deed to give a moron lots of money? If she was stupid enough to fall for the scam, she's stupid enough to do it again.
I suppose it gives the director a sequel though. - gagfilms, on 11/18/2008, -4/+12Once again, stupid comment from a stupid moron.
- fuxxx, on 11/19/2008, -4/+12Did you have that saved somewhere for easy copy and pasting?
Also *eyeroll* = dumb ***** neckbeard - josepablos, on 11/19/2008, -1/+8In A World...
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -1/+8One of my friends is convinced that she makes no difference when she votes. I consider her to be insurmountably stupid.
- Tiak, on 11/19/2008, -0/+7...You can... You can do that?
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+6Great deed? Why are moronic acts in the country rewarded? Same goes for bailouts.
- geoken, on 11/19/2008, -0/+6It's not just that. It's also the fact that her family and even bank officials were telling her it's a scam and she ignored them.
- chuckDontSurf, on 11/19/2008, -0/+61. Shell game
2. Amway - dharmazazen, on 11/19/2008, -2/+8anyone who's feel sorry for her should about Nelson Sakaguchi; the victim of the biggest 419 fraud in history: $242 MILLION
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+5whatever - she was probably gonna leave it to her cat when she died, at least some Nigerian gets a gold necklace & a used BMW.
- Tiak, on 11/19/2008, -0/+5I'd assume kidnapping is at least one of them... I'd assume the other is at least somehow oil-related (They're the region's largest oil producer, and many Nigerians are apparently rather upset that their government officials seem to be hoarding the foreign oil money).
My guess for the other would be extortion(/muggings)... - Vindexus, on 11/19/2008, -1/+6How are we so sure your comment isn't a scam?!
NICE TRY! - IAmDann, on 11/19/2008, -0/+5It's a SCAM!!!
- simg, on 11/19/2008, -0/+5No, I don't think we should feel too sorry for him ...
http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/ind ... - KMye, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4"According to some reports, the scam is the third most lucrative industry in Nigeria"
What are the first two? ?Ebay-related stuff? and...? - h3110, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4"Download the movie for $6.99!"
How do you purchase the movie for $6.99? I only see a $16.99 and $9.99 option. When I choose the $9.99 option, it brings me to a page that sells for $14.99. - gagfilms, on 11/18/2008, -14/+18This is truly a great deed.
- Tiak, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4The residue ***** Nigerians, on the other hand, can be relied upon for your every need without question.
- GeorgeStone2, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4Minister Tick Tock Clack. If you're reading this please reply to my emails.
I have sent the $10,000 release fee you asked and haven't heard from you since.
Please respond ASAP. - KMye, on 11/19/2008, -1/+5Except, it kind of sounded like at least partway into it, he was aware of what was going on. I'm still trying to figure out how he wasn't able to put a stop to it...
- GlassAgate, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4Perhaps digg is a scam. While diggers spend hours
and hours digging and engaging in discussions,
they can't stop the creators of digg from going
forward with their plans for world domination. - sfacets, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4I can't download the film for $6.99 because Australian internet.
- geoken, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4Don't forget the refurbished Motorola razr
- mentalsticks, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4What nobody ever mentions is that the Nigerian scam always asks you to do something illegal: help get the money out of the country without the govt/customs/tax dept./heirs/bank knowing, bribe officials, etc. So the victims certainly aren't as innocent as they are mostly made out to be...
- nilhilustfreder, on 11/19/2008, -2/+6Retards, he's not talking about this article. He's not suggesting the victim in this article is the same as the woman who lost 400k. He's most definitely not referring to comments made about this article (all one of them). He's just comparing the two, and the reactions by diggers to each.
