- threemagic, on 11/23/2008, -0/+17The algorithm is ***** with you...here put on your red shirt and enter the transporter with us.
- HastyBoom, on 11/23/2008, -1/+14I'm just glad they don't look like steroid-junkie-football-player-space-marines.
- Alias1431, on 11/23/2008, -1/+12So, Harold's search has taken him into space... Interesting.
- Lousansano, on 11/23/2008, -0/+10No you wont I can almost guarantee that
- Synn, on 11/23/2008, -0/+10Rrrright, because you're not a geek....just a guy whose a member of digg posting to a Star Trek related article.
No...you're not a geek at all.
Dumbass. - dhyancraig, on 11/23/2008, -1/+11Still prefer the old show.
If you watch it today, you would have no idea that the show came out in 1966; it looks more like a show with technology from the 80s.
Forget the look of the show though; the plots of many episodes are some of the most compelling science fiction you will find, even today.
Best episodes to watch:
http://www.tv.com/star-trek/show/633/top.html - raquel9e, on 11/23/2008, -0/+9Old Spock wore blue makeup because Vulcans have green blood. This new Spock looks too pink to be a Vulcan if you ask me.
- GregoryHarbin, on 11/23/2008, -2/+11Um, you are aware this is a prequel, right? Amanda looks younger because she IS younger. This scene is from when Spock is a little boy. By the time he's in middle age for a Vulcan, Amanda will have aged 40-50 years, which is when we see her in TOS.
Seriously, people, can you find ACTUAL things to gripe about? - 4321234, on 11/23/2008, -0/+8In the original series, Chekov was added to the cast to cash in on the popularity of the Monkees TV series. Notice in the pic how much Walter Koenig looked like Davey Jones?
- Guyledouche, on 11/23/2008, -0/+8Can somebody explain to me how Kirk crashes a Corvette in the trailer. Wouldn't that car be hundreds of years old?
- absurdist, on 11/23/2008, -0/+8That article was almost completely content-free.
- Hetman, on 11/23/2008, -7/+14Out of the entire star trek universe I am going to have to go with 7 of 9 being the hottest regardless of fashion.
- verbose, on 11/23/2008, -1/+8The same way Lois Lane looks half her written age in Superman Returns -- the mass appeal compromise of science fiction.
- Chairboy, on 11/23/2008, -0/+7The roughly 30 year difference in the character's age probably contributed. The scene pictures appears to be from when Spock was born.
- mst3kcrow, on 11/23/2008, -0/+7When you have a craving for the restaurant at the end of the universe.....nothing else will do.
- inactive, on 11/23/2008, -0/+6They all work as good matches to their Original Series counterparts, with the exception of Chekov. He just looks like a random red shirt in the background waiting to die.
- TheSkinsFactory, on 11/23/2008, -0/+6I'm going to have to digg you down (jk) as T'Pol is way hotter.
- TitanX7, on 11/23/2008, -0/+5Why do all the new guys look pissed off?
- browwiw, on 11/23/2008, -0/+5Wait, let me edit that for absolute honesty, diggis4thekids
"While you guys debate I'll be driving out to an interstate rest stop to have anonymous cruisey gay sex with another man" - ThatsNotPoetry, on 11/23/2008, -0/+4The lack of make-up on Spock makes him the wrong color and also gives him a 5 o'clock shadow. Wtf.
- iamnobody8614, on 11/23/2008, -0/+4There are pictures...
- jimv1983, on 11/23/2008, -0/+4I have 2 problems with the cast.
1. Christoper Pine is 28 and looks younger. He looks way to young to be the Captain of a star ship especially the enterprise(star fleets flagship)
2. Simon Pegg was a terrible choice for Scotty. Paul McGillion should have gotten the role he is actually scottish and was supported by James Doohan's son. - sproket, on 11/23/2008, -0/+4If you didn't know that - you're not worthy.
- kurtwinter, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3Winona Ryder > Everybody Else.
- Hetman, on 11/23/2008, -1/+4I am not saying their are not others, I am just saying 7 of 9 is my favorite.
- DelMonte, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3"What? We are voting again."
Yes, we are voting to get you banned from digg Mr. Spammer.
Report received! Thanks. - HastyBoom, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3Hah! I always saw his resemblance to Davey Jones. Are you serious?
- PabloIV, on 11/23/2008, -2/+5Although I really like Star Trek and the world it lives in, I was always more of a TNG, DS9, Movies sort of fan.
There was some good writing in TOS but the cheesiness of everything including the outfits made it really hard for me to suspend my disbelief. I really like what I've seen of the movie up till now, including the new outfits.
These new kids look like they're gonna do a hell of a job. - MrMayBeBanned, on 11/23/2008, -1/+4Am I the only one who thinks the new Chekov looks like that Grima Wormtongue dude in LOTR, he also played some psychopathic Starfleet officer in Voyager.
- jimv1983, on 11/23/2008, -0/+31. I stated that Pin is 28 but i also said he looks a lot younger. He looks like he is about 22.
2. I know James Doohan was not really Scottish either but Paul McGillion would have been better, him actually being scottish was just a bonus. Also, like I said James Doohan's son wanted Paul McGillion to play scotty because he did a good job of playing the character the way Doohan's father did. I hope simon pegg does not play the role the way he did in Shawn of the Dead, that is trying to be funny but failing miserably. - Beatmiser, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3Buried for:
"New Sock, on the other hand, has a menacing quality about him that makes him sexy and a bit scary."
I don't mind fluff articles... even on the internet, but do people not have editors anymore? Or is there a 'New Sock' character I haven't yet heard of? - verbose, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3Then you have problems with the original show:
1. Shatner Kirk took command of the Enterprise in his early thirties, so Pine is not inconsistent
2. James Doohan wasn't Scottish either, so Pegg is not inconsistent - 5urr3al5am, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2there's some comic-book-guy loser that works at digg that rates the articles
- Gir53457, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2Uhura's miniskirt >> 7 of 9's but padding
- inactive, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2Yeah cause girls totally throw themselves at guys that don't like Star Trek. I bet you post this same comment on all the warcraft articles too don't ya, mac daddy.
- ThatsNotPoetry, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2Picard was my first old-man crush.
- 808ethan, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2Some look pretty cool, but how epic would it have been to have George Takei as Sulu again? Now that I know hes flaming gay and a really funny guy would make every scene surreal.
- inactive, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2Lol nice reply, but on the topic, I'm guessing because 60 digs within 3 hrs is quite a big impact. Also considering some of the diggers may be more authoritative?
- twasitme, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1Not bad -- except new Chekov == FAIL.
- shipwreck58, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1With the exception of McCoy and Uhura, gotta go with the old versus the new. New Uhura makes me get a Rodimus Prime!
- anagoge, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1Dr. Crusher
Lieutenant Tasha Yar
Ensign Ro Laren
Ensign Lefler
Lieutenant Jadzia Dax
Leeta
Ensign Ezri Dax
To name but a few others. - antdude, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1Why smackdown now? Wait until after we see the movie.
- danwgre, on 11/24/2008, -0/+1a 23rd century replica of a 20th century car? People love old stuff, even in the future.
- superhope, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1I always felt bad for the poor red shirts...
- AmandaQ, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1There is absolutely NOTHING better than William Shatner as Captain Kirk. And mind you, I am a HUGE STNG fan with the serious hots for Picard--but Captain Kirk is just THE MAN: http://theq.typepad.com/cow/2008/11/kirk-is-the-ma ...
For serious. There's no way this movie can capture Kirk's greatness from the original series. - romeyinfc, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1How the hell do you think Dr. Crusher is hott?
- AmandaQ, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1He was my first bald man crush. :-D
- verbose, on 11/23/2008, -1/+2That's why there's Digg -- to provide free editing! Oh, and "Internet" is always capitalized, and single quotation marks only exist inside other quotations. Thanks for playing!
