- mattjstein, on 10/12/2007, -4/+45Let's hope they don't taint the original - although three isn't nearly as solid as one or two.
- Satanael, on 10/12/2007, -26/+58I honestly really like the 3rd one...
Yeah, just bury me =[ - CaptainNoPants, on 10/12/2007, -15/+43100% true. The 3rd one is now right up there with Rocky 5 in my opinion.
Meaning that it was so terribly bad compared to the rest of the series that it can't even be considered the same franchise. - Synthos, on 10/12/2007, -7/+29'"Terminator 4" will be based on a script by John Brancato and Michael Ferris ("Terminator 3")'
Doesn't look so promising now, does it? - Caleb83, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Who cares about the Sarah Connor Chronicles? Here's to hoping the movies don't totally rape the terminator franchise.
- playhouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14only way this would work is if it was based entirely in the future, during the wars. Any more time traveling reincarnations of the T-800 would put one last bullet in an already dead horse.
- CaptainNoPants, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I've never heard anyone say they didn't like the T2, let alone call it crap. Did you like the 3rd one?
The 3rd one had terrible acting by the Gov, a shotty storyline, and the special effects were awful.
I didn't like the casting either, Claire Danes in a terminator movie? Stahl wasn't good either. - unknownpoltroon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13New Trilogy? Great. AS long as they make it a NEW trilogy/story, instead of trying to shoehorn in bits and actors from the other 3.
- Deedubau, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Although I did find 3 enjoyable, but not in the same way or as much Terminator 2. 3 was a good movie to watch purely for action but I felt it lacked a memorable plot and didn't care for the characters. 2 had an amazing cast of characters that you cared for and the tension that built up the fights like when The T-800 and T-1000 was stalking the kid in the mall was incredible.
I think 3 was purposely done like the way it is because profitwise it's probably better to make a good popcorn action movie than to spend more time and make an amazing script and taking the time to make every scene seem memorable. The people in charge of the franchise were probably banking in on the fact people will see it no matter what because it's part of an existing franchise that doesn't suck which is a shame! - andrewthrice, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Dyson doesn't suck, he tried to stop Judgment Day.
- Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12"The 3rd one was awesome, I thought the ending was great. Some people just don't like sequels because they get nostalgic for the originals and nothing would be good enough. There is also the whole "purist" mentality where its cool to bash everything but the original."
Not true. What would be good enough, you ask? I'll tell you. What would be good enough is if James Cameron would climb out of his damn submarines, come back to Hollywood, and direct some damn decent action movies. They need to retcon T3 (and Alien3/A4 too wnile they're at it) and make new films with Cameron at the helm. *That* would be good enough.
T3 wasn't as bad as it could have been, but it was still crap compared to the first two. Pretty much everything Cameron ever did was awesome. - ColMustard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Nothing sucks more than a Dyson.
- Kamic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I would like to see a whole new storyline, same time travel, and maybe see the two events link somehow, see sarah on the news or events that happened.
completely different story but has its place.. - ausfahrt, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16If you aren't being sarcastic and "not nearly as solid" = A total piece of crap. Then yes i agree with you.
- Barnolde, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8This can only end badly.
- laserblazer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Hollywood squirts out another one.
- dtfinch, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9The pessimist/historian in me says:
T1 budget: $6.5 million
T2: $100 million
T3: $187 million
T4: $2 million
T5: $3 million
T6: $2 million
I've never heard of Halycon Co., so I think of those companies that buy up dead movie rights and pop out B-movie sequels until people stop falling for them. - Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Personally I'd be happy with a Terminator 4... I'd like to see a merge there with Terminator 1.
*Three* more movies sounds excessive though. - jonshipman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The way I see it is
Terminator 1: Horror, Thriller, +action
T2: Hollywood Action
T3: OMG let's make money - vampiregabe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Freddy Vs Terminator
Terminator Vs Aliens?
Terminator Vs Neo
Terminator Vs Agent Smith?
Flippin' awesome! - unclebuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Hopefully at least one of them will be set entirely in the nightmare future that Kyle Reese kept having flashbacks to in T1 with the HKs and all the human skulls everywhere.
- LonnyQ, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11Can't get much worse than #3
- harlequinade, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Further, sad evidence that most Hollywood execs couldn't locate an original idea if you gave them GPS and a map. T1 was a good movie. T3 sucked harder than a Dyson. When are they going to learn?? - when you make a movie that becomes a classic of its genre, leave it alone.
- rolosworld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3so... Arnold said: "Hasta la Vista.. Baby!"
and MS finally released Vista, so I guess its true theres a sequel!
I feel so smart! - JayRod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Sounds like he wouldn't be back or at least be involved with project anyways.
- bidness, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I don't think that is a good way to anchor your movie company.
- steelmaverick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Maybe it'll be a reboot of the series, like what they did with Casino Royale.
- Fhionnlaoch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Ow, I'm having a vision: It's a freight train and it's rolling downhill.
- MrTea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nah, a prequel to Last Action Hero would be better.
- havokzero, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Terminator 4 better be pretty damn awesome, then.
- Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This new trilogy should be about a Terminator that goes back in time to undo the events of Terminator 3.
- danielsan79, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Terminator 3 actually had a good script, it was the casting that killed it. If Eddie Furlong had been signed and played the unwilling, drugged leader of the future and Linda Hamilton show up for her death scene, I see no reason why it wouldn't have made more money than Terminator 2 did at the box office.
- ARMADILDO, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i worked at a video store
and have seen this
its pathetic because they dont even make good "bad" movies
just a slick and boring piece of ***** that cant deliver in any way at all - xenoploid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is about as exciting as George Lucas announcing he's going to make Star Wars movies for TV with no Skywalker characters. The Hollywood sequel-whore-machine continues...
- Theli, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4"Let's hope they don't taint the original - although three isn't nearly as solid as one or two."
I always through T2 and T3 were pretty much two versions of the same movie with T3 being the lesser. The evil terminator in T3 wasn't even as menacing or powerful as the "mimetic poly-alloy" T1000.
The one thing T3 had over T2 in my mind was Nick Stahl as opposed to the whining Edward Furlong playing John Connor. - V1ncent, on 10/24/2007, -3/+4Two terminators are sent back to the future. One runs Windows and the other's a Mac. Both are sent to Bill Gates as a child. We know who won.
- biggrz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Somehow I knew he'd 'be back'.
- adinb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just wish that they'd use some of the storylines from the books, which were better than T3 (and probably T2) IMHO.
- scotticus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just stop... Arnold has bitch ***** now. He can't be terminator anymore, and terminator without Arnold is just lame.
- MrTea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They'll probably end up ***** up the storyline anyway. For example, John Connor ends up being Kyle Reese's father or something.
- irvin666, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1agreed, the last movie should be the "original" terminator timeline. meaning that Cyberdyne Systems and T-800s ruled.
then we can see non-stop action of the machines and the resistance duke it out and the chance to see the 'hardware' version of Skynet =D - adinb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That they're using scripts by the guys that did T3. And that it really doesn't sound like they're going to spend much time/energy/money expanding the franchise. :(
- CaptainNoPants, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Still waiting for a Robocop vs Terminator movie. I loved the game.
- Jonjonr6, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Quick, someone photoshop the Terminator with some water skis,
Personally, I thought they jumped the shark with T3. - mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Judging from your rant , you probably dont write for a living....
- maexus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1They don't need to reboot the series, infact, they didn't need to make T3. T2 has to easily be one of my favorite scifi movies of all time and makes my list of top movies.
- theblindman2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Actually, that would be a pretty cool action scene for the next movies...
I actually want to see the events after Judgement Day, let it happen, i want a land-based sci-fi epic battle. - thoughtcancer, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5I don't know, man. I just don't understand why the majority of Terminator fans didn't like T3. It was by far my favorite one. it didn't rely on a gimmick like T2, and had a much deeper story than T1. It may not have been as innovative (I mean, it's a three-quel, or what have you), but the whole "tortured, drugged-out John Conner" finally meeting his destiny was pretty cool. The Terminatress was pretty amazing (a robot that forms complex machines) and Claire Daines shall continue to rock the world of any straight man with a pulse. The weakest part of T3 was, surprisingly enough, Arnold. Love him to death, but he looked pretty ragged for an invincible robot (and wasn't that the point, that he wasn't invincible after all?).
I just hope that the new producers decide to make T4-6 all about the War Against The Machines. A whole trilogy set in the future ending with John Conner leading humanity to victory over their machine overlords? That sounds pretty damn cool. I hope that the new trilogy follows the path set by T3, one of conflict, good story, and just plain old good Sci-Fi.
/Ramen! - perrym, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1LMAO, the sad thing is i would probably watch it and it would be 10x better than T4/5/6
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Terminator without Arnold = CRAP.
