- svensksvamp, on 11/17/2008, -8/+145How come Star Trek suddenly looks cool?

- mythicflux, on 11/17/2008, -3/+64It's written by the guys who did Transformers and Mission Impossible III so you know..... *****.
- HappyScrappy, on 11/17/2008, -1/+59Kirk drives a car off a cliff why?
I know the guy is a man of action, but driving a car off a cliff is just stupid. - inactive, on 11/17/2008, -18/+73Mother ***** Quick Time.
- MrFurious2k, on 11/17/2008, -2/+53...or your mother.

- getdiggywitit, on 11/17/2008, -12/+60***** this trailer KICK ASS!
- inactive, on 11/17/2008, -1/+47***** James Doohan was Canadian. Simon Pegg is at least from the same hemisphere as Scotty theoretically is.
- PrometheusBorn, on 11/17/2008, -10/+55Meh, Star Wars, Star Trek, they're basically the same.
/tribbles - SkippyDoorknob, on 11/17/2008, -1/+44Only if it's the logical thing to do.
- Ndiggnation, on 11/17/2008, -0/+42For the only reason Kirk does anything, the chicks will dig it.
- Kaster, on 11/17/2008, -2/+44I want a TV Star Trek back - this time on HBO.
- painting, on 11/17/2008, -7/+45sylar as spock.
- Oronar, on 11/17/2008, -3/+40...is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly hugely mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space.
- xcise, on 11/17/2008, -4/+40i'm more excited now...
i hope the movie will be as good as this trailer. - defubar, on 11/17/2008, -1/+37And on top of that, Obama is a Treky!

- babyheadout, on 11/17/2008, -2/+28Live with me if you want to come.
- FreddieD, on 11/17/2008, -1/+26Hi Terminator.... you're made out of an aluminum alloy... that's cool...
Say hi to your motha for me, ok? - regularsteven, on 11/17/2008, -4/+29is this gonna be the new 'dark knight' on digg for a while?
- SkippyDoorknob, on 11/17/2008, -2/+27Get off my lawn!!!
- Zera, on 11/17/2008, -0/+24Yep, the story is what matters. Not the special effects, not how pretty the actors are, not how violent the battles, or anything else. Star Trek has always been about the story, and is the sole reason why it was and is popular, and that is the key to any future Star Trek series.
A quote from the late Gene Roddenberry on the success of the original series:
"The whole show was an attempt to say that humanity will reach maturity and
wisdom on the day that it begins not just to tolerate, but to take a special delight in
differences in ideas and differences in life forms. We tried to say that the worst
possible thing that can happen to all of us is for the future to somehow press us
into a common mold, where we begin to act and talk and look and think alike. If
we cannot learn to actually enjoy those small differences, take a positive delight in
those small differences between our own kind, here on this planet, then we do not
deserve to go out into space and meet the diversity that is almost certainly out
there. And I think that this is what people responded to." - rz8472, on 11/17/2008, -1/+25Yeah, and no sight of Dumbledore Calrissian either...
- SkippyDoorknob, on 11/17/2008, -1/+24The car was Christine, he was trying to kill it.
- MoralThreat, on 11/17/2008, -1/+22You got redshirt on you.
- flossdaily, on 11/18/2008, -5/+26Because they removed all thoughtfulness, witty dialog, and beloved actors, and replaced them with ultra-pretty people and the same level of special effects that made Star Wars Episodes I-III such amazingly high quality movies.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 11/17/2008, -5/+26... is big, really big
- mythicflux, on 11/18/2008, -0/+20Let's be honest JJ Abrams' entire formula is as follows:
Existing concept + vagueness/mystery + hype machine = new product.
For example:
La Femme Nikita + mysterious prophet/inventor + action hype = Alias
Survivor + mysterious island + alternative reality games(ARG) = Lost
X-Files + mysterious science mysteries = Fringe
Godzilla + vague monster origin + slusho (another ARG) = Cloverfield
Mission Impossible + mysterious weapon (rabbit's foot) + Tom Cruise = Mission Impossible III - GregFD3S, on 11/17/2008, -1/+21Dugg for Harold playing Hikaru Sulu.
- HappyScrappy, on 11/17/2008, -3/+23VLC plays H.264 Quicktime movies.
I would rather people not use Flash. Why I would want to run an executable to view a movie is beyond me. If I sent you a word processing file and it was a .exe you'd be nervous, right? Same thing with Flash. -
