- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20You can't steal something you already own....
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Hey screw you man! I happen to be at my job, and I'm doing "Industry research" to make sure that up on all the latest and greates in the Tech world. Shouldn't you be flipping a burger?
- joaob, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18Actually...Sony borrowed the Spiderman font. Figuring they own both properties.
- SoupsMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Nice trailer, makes me happy. Looks like venom will be mostly internalized in his movie. Maybe saving him for spider man 4.
But i saw the trailer first on comedy central at 12:30 a.m. last night and i almost was jumping with enthusiasm. Looks like spider man 3 wont suffer from crappy trilogy syndrome that X3 and the Matrix did. (and Star wars). So i dub this trailer... Spider Man 3: Return of the Plot - 4815162342, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10They showed the entire movie! Hopefully there's still some cool stuff left to see.
- Charlotte_Web, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8"Spider-man (in these movies) is SUCH a freakin geek. Like, borderline "loser". Why the hell did they pick Tobey Maguire? He's so not superhero material."
Ummm... I suggest that you find and read a reprint of Amazing Fantasy #15, and you'll answer your own question. - lazydrumhead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7My mind dyslexia'd out "Spiderman Trailer in HD 3D!"
:( - DanteDefiance, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Note to Soups:
Matrix 2 and 3 trailers were incredible. That's what movie studios do, they show you the best to pack you in and get your moneys. Then you see the movie and realize you've been had. - DanteDefiance, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"What really concerns me is that judging from the plot laid out in the trailer, everyone Peter Parker meets is later involved in a lab accident that turns them into a supervillain. It's quite a coincidence that Peter has a personal relationship with every single villain in the series before they transform (Green Goblin 1, Dr. Octopus, Sandman, Green Goblin 2 AND Venom). Ridiculous."
That's pretty much how the comics are too good buddy. - Bara, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5He's in the movie, but they're still trying to keep it a "secret", despite the fact that the director (or producer, or someone high up there) has already confirmed Venom is in the movie.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8(I think he was joking)
- honavery, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Does anyone else think some of the CGI looks a bit suspect?
- dawgma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4were looking for the NEW trailer pls
- trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5That isn't the only thing that PS3 has "borrowed".
- Phantastica, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5For everyone that keeps complaining about the font...that is the same typeface from Spiderman 2 (and SP1 no doubt). Sony started using this typeface on the PS3 when they originally began showing it off at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City about a year ago. They're definitely hitching a ride on the popularity of the Spiderman franchise, but Spiderman 3 is definitely not ripping off design cues from the PS3, it's the other way around.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Apologies, I assumed it was.
- Bara, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4CGI in spiderman movies has always looked "suspect"... heck, just watch Doc Oc's death scene in Spiderman 2.
- Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Actually although I was annoyed when what I thought was a Spiderman 3 trailer was really a PS3 ad I think Sony is onto something here. Both are continuations of a successful series of products coming out around the same time frame. People who get excited because they expect an advertisement for one of them (seeing just a 3 in that font) may be more likely to positively associate the coming ad with the product they didn't really think was going to be advertised. Since their minds are already engaged due to the expectation that they'll get an advertisement for the product they're interested in (be it PS3 or SM3) this effect may carry over and increase the positive association with the other product.
In this light the choice to use the same font might be genius - although it could backfire if people are disappointed that what they expected wasn't what they got. - eric1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'm confused -- is Venom in this movie or not? I know Eddie Brock is, but I haven't seen any indication that Venom will be featured.
- coreyb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Go to hell monkeywrench. People who need to put down the other 600,000+ diggers because they THINK they have a better job/life generally don't...
- geeXP, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7These were accidentally posted online earlier today (as noted in that other Digg thread), but were quickly gone, leaving just a crappy low res flv version.
I managed to grab the two HD trailers and host them on my server for all to enjoy... so enjoy. - SoupsMan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"Matrix 2 and 3 trailers were incredible. Yes, i will concede that trailers are meant to make everything seem awesome, whether they are or aren't. But from what I remember from memory, unless someone finds the 2 trailers to show me other wise, the matrix 2+3 TRAILERS didnt talk about plot at all. Being an action movie, you expect that, but when the Matrix came out, it was action/drama(?). So I expected a plot in 2+3(or a lot more of it).
And when I say plot, i mean Parker has to deal with his changing personality, super hero job, grandfathers murderer, and his new arch nemesis The hob goblin,(sorry if i dont know real names, i love the movies/comics, but i suck at remembering names), and marry jane again. So its chock full of plotty goodness. whether or not the studio delved into it enough to make the plot more exciting than the action does remain to be seen. But I am Confident. - Rayor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"grandfathers murderer"
Ben Parker was Peter's uncle, not his grandfather. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Eddie Brock (Topher Grace) turning into Venom in Spider-man 3....sharp teeth and all.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6what about the 1080p version?
- willistg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't think the CGI is bad, it seems to conform to the style of the prior 2 movies almost intentionally. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing seems to be a style more than technical innovation.
I can't wait to see the whole thing though. - DanteDefiance, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah...you would think after 5 years they would have perfected the look and feel of a on screen Spidey. Still...they have plenty on time to make this look as real as possible.

- artman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"e.g., does he need to go to the bathroom?"
I always wondered how (or what) the Thing took a crapper... It's the comics, not real life.
Here is the original origin of The Sandman. Yes, they did change some characteristics and origin but the costume is the same.
http://www.marveldatabase.com/wiki/index.php/Sandman_(William_Baker)#Origin
My question is why introduce Gwen Stacy now? She was Peter Parker's first true girlfriend. Here's a stark theory...Mary Jane dies and Gwen Stacy becomes Parker's new love interest in Spider-Man 4. One reason being that Sam Raimi, Kirsten Dunst and Toby Mcguire may not be involved in Spider-Man 4. All depends on money and how much the studios can pay them to stay on. - geodescent, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Chris is that you? lol
- ProfessorRiffs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm a Spidey fan for over 20 years, and Sandman has always been my favorite villian. I have to say, he looks PERFECT in this movie. Regardless of how the rest of the flick goes (which I am expecting to rock, the last 2 have been great comic book movie activity), I am glad to see that they kept Sandman perfect. I thought for sure they'd mess him up, awesome that they proved me wrong!!!

The crazy looking spiderman with all the red crap flying off of him - rhesuspieces00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3just his suit, apparently.
Too bad, no massive fangs or flailing tongue. - HanSolo69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Carnage isn't a "Crazy looking Spiderman", he's actually more of a crazier looking Venom.
- SoupsMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2curses, that right, uncle Ben. I guess i should wiki before i name names huh? ;)
- Javienn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3The font was also used for the original XBOX font, and I believe was originally created for a Smashing Pumpkins album. The font is title 1979 if my memory serves me correct.
:) - jamsea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There's still Venom to see :D
- thepolkapunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What if there's a reason other than surprise we didn't see Venom in the trailers. What if Venom isn't actually in the movie? What if the movie only deals with Spider-Man facing off against Sandman and Osborn? What if Eddie Brock only meets up with the symbiote at the very end of the movie, and then we're left with a "To be continued..."? Frankly, knowing Sam's distaste for Venom, I'm rather frightened this will happen. Until a trailer shows otherwise, I'm going to have assume that Venom isn't in the movie, and therefore, much of the advertising has just been false teases to fans of Spider-Man like myself.
- madsmith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11979 is a different font. Similar but clearly a different font.
- chasew70, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't think that will happen, I did a really geeky thing and "analyzed" the trailer frame by frame, and found a couple of frames right at 2:15 that suggest otherwise. There is a short shot of Spidey crouched down in a classic Spidey stance, in his red and blue suit surrounded by black webbing. He then jumps towards the camera while pulling his arm back preparing to punch someone or something. Just my 2 cents!
- jessecrouch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1im actually having trouble viewing either one of these with either VLC or MPC with the quicktime alternative thing.. guess my machine isnt fast enough?
anyway.. anybody got a youtube link or somethin? - jessecrouch, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4if the mov's wont play well for you try this wmv:
http://a123.g.akamai.net/7/123/22372/v0001/asmstor.download.akamai.com/9177/spiderman/spider-man_3_trailer_720p.wmv - trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah pretty much know how the bad guys in the movie will die now. And how spider man gets rid of venom (but I already knew how he does that before, looks like it'll be the same way again). I really hate movie trailers that give that much of the movie away.
- fodder650, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Remember also that the CGI is still being worked on. The movie isn't coming out until next May
- canyonblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Venom IS in the movie, the editing of the trailer is designed to make you think he isn't. This is a mild spoiler.... the actor playing Venom is in the trailer. ;-)
