Dun-da-na-naaaaa, dun-da-naaaa, naaa, NAAAA! - goomba323, on 05/05/2008, -0/+14OK, I know I'm going to get buried, but I have to say something critical.
Here are some excerpts from IMDB trivia section:
"Producer Frank Marshall stated that the film would be shot the same way as the previous three - with stunt men, and using CGI only when necessary."
"Steven Spielberg did not shoot the film in digital format, which his friend and partner George Lucas had adopted. Lucas approved, seeing that it looked, in his words, "like it was shot 3 years after the Last Crusade, you'd never know there was 20 years between shooting."
"To be consistent with the previous films, Steven Spielberg shot the film using traditional stunts and kept the use of computer-generated imagery to an absolute minimum, although during filming he estimated about 30% of VFX would have to be CGI."
I loved the old Indiana Jones movies. But I loved the old Star Wars movies too. I have a feeling Lucas got his way and most of the stunts in this movie will be of the CGI sort (judging by the trailer, most of the stunts are using CGI). I just think it's sad when filmmakers resort to CGI instead of actual stunts and camera tricks. It shows a sense of laziness. CGI hasn't reached the point of feeling real yet, and for me, that will take away significantly from the fun-level of the ride that i hoped this movie would be. Here's to hoping I'm wrong. - JedicodeWarrior, on 05/05/2008, -0/+5No need to bury you. I agree. The first three Star Wars movies were good, the last three and the re-releases sucked ass. I think Lucas got lazy and incorporated *WAY* too much CGI and used it as a crutch. Don't beleive me? Three words: Jar Jar Binks.
- JettaMan, on 05/05/2008, -0/+4Needs more Jar-Jar.
- JedicodeWarrior, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Death to the binkster!!

- fr3ddie, on 05/05/2008, -2/+10ive got shivers.

Meant for chills, doesn't work with shivers.
Sorry.

- jakethelake, on 05/05/2008, -9/+5Dugg for nips.
- axborn, on 05/05/2008, -0/+8You liar there are no nips
- willclarke, on 05/05/2008, -0/+5Yeah seriously, way to disappoint me.
- passedoutghost, on 05/05/2008, -6/+15I came, I saw, I came again.
- craighoxton, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1A summer with an Indy movie and a Batman movie...is it 1989 again?
- jer21, on 05/05/2008, -5/+22It actually looks like Lucas hasn't screwed up this time.
- momsshizzle, on 05/05/2008, -2/+12Why are you getting dugg down? Didn't you nerds see Star Wars Episode I?
- SSUK, on 05/05/2008, -2/+1Or II or III...
- ilves7, on 05/05/2008, -1/+7III wasn't THAT bad... I and II were crap however
- JedicodeWarrior, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3I reserve judgement until after I've seen the flick.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2Should that always be the case?
- mabhatter, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Actually, Lucas will release a secretly edited movie Speilberg didn't know he was making. Yes, It's THAT secret!!!! All of the audio will be digitally spliced from nonsense scripts and the lips digitally "fixed" by ILM.
- momsshizzle, on 05/05/2008, -2/+12Why are you getting dugg down? Didn't you nerds see Star Wars Episode I?
- levitron, on 05/05/2008, -8/+6Yeah, but.... an LED countdown timer? Doesn't that automatically warrant at least one star off the rating?
- Hoogs, on 05/05/2008, -1/+4I liked how the Indy music and the countdown timer's beep alternated.
- yuutokun, on 05/05/2008, -27/+3Bury this piece of garbage! Ron Paul '12!
- JedicodeWarrior, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1Keep drinking that koolaid.
- aenima987, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1it's okay, people, i think he's trying to be sarcastic (and failing)
- swizzcheez, on 05/05/2008, -1/+15Karen Allen's back? Yeah!
LED digital count-down clock huh? Guess I'll have to wait to find out exactly what time period this one is set in. Guess I'm hoping we're dealing with late sixties, early seventies. Not really a big deal but a bit of a shocker against the backdrop of ancient archaeology.- tysoho, on 05/05/2008, -0/+6It's set in the 50's during the early days of the Cold War. The space race was about to be under way, so I think the LED technology is feasible.
- swizzcheez, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1I was basing (confirming) the dating for LEDs from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light-emitting_diode# ... . Oh well, like others mention (and I agree) it isn't a big deal -- it just stuck out...
- theholyraptor, on 05/05/2008, -0/+14It's already been well established this occurs in the cold war, and instead of fighting Nazis, the antagonist is the Russians, so an led count down clock is perceivable. Would have been cooler if they'd used a nixie tube display though.
- AlMightyBob90, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2Since when was historical accuracy such a big deal? I can understand if they start firing laser guns in the 50s but a little countdown? Come on, just enjoy the movie the way it was meant to be enjoyed and don't get hung up on minute details.
- Bighaugs, on 05/05/2008, -1/+2That's not an LED display. See here: http://www.scientificsolutions.ca/patents.htm.
- shadowspawn, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3I thought the same thing. At that time period, they had the vacuum tubes for each digit place with the numbers right behind each other; a thin layer. Like a neon glow.
Wow, man. I really did think the same thing. And they didn't "beep". - aijalon, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2I believe there was an illusion in the trailer to Brando's movie The Wild One which was made in '53. I don't know if that character was supposed to be Brando or a person who saw The Wild One and was dressing like Brando. If the latter, then I would guess the film is set between '54 & '56 ...
- Kancer978, on 05/05/2008, -0/+0Yeah but the bike he is riding during this scene has a Harley Davidson TwinCam motor in it which was first produced in 1998. Looks like a fun move though.
- stretta, on 05/05/2008, -5/+0Karen Allen is back and he has a 20-something-year old sidekick?
Gee. Let me guess who that would be... hmmmm..... hmmmm....
- tysoho, on 05/05/2008, -0/+6It's set in the 50's during the early days of the Cold War. The space race was about to be under way, so I think the LED technology is feasible.
- vamapaull, on 05/05/2008, -2/+3Just can't wait!!

- acidmutant, on 05/05/2008, -1/+3cant wait for this one....
- MrDoug, on 05/05/2008, -4/+70Here's how the phone conversation went..
George: I'm done doing Star Wars now...can we make another Indy film?
Steven: Yeah, I'd love to...one condition.
George: What's that?
Steven: You let me have talented writers finish it after you are done writing so you don't ***** up another iconic trilogy.
George: Nooooooooooooooo!
Steven: Exactly...are we clear?
George: Yeah, I guess that's fair.- antdude, on 05/06/2008, -1/+1You forgot the CG too.
- 9bpm9, on 05/05/2008, -2/+47Saw it when I went to see Ironman, and Harrison Ford still looks awesome. Even at the ripe old age of 143.
- momsshizzle, on 05/05/2008, -14/+1Harrison Ford was in Ironman? ;) I think you need to reword your sentence.
- CaptainShaun, on 05/05/2008, -0/+6Beginning the sentence with "Saw it", qualifying the second trailer, he's fine.
- H1tchh1k3r, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2I think you need some common sense
- JedicodeWarrior, on 05/05/2008, -2/+13143? That's dog years, right? After all, he is named after the dog.
- momsshizzle, on 05/05/2008, -14/+1Harrison Ford was in Ironman? ;) I think you need to reword your sentence.
- theholyraptor, on 05/05/2008, -1/+3Been waiting for this for a long time.
- pigducksheep, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1That's what she said?
- fishbeef33, on 05/05/2008, -0/+32Well, Indy has definitely gotten visibly older, but KAREN ALLEN LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME. How the hell is that possible??
- NeoCortex, on 05/05/2008, -0/+5She's been in cryo-storage for the past few decades.
- wzpgsr, on 05/05/2008, -1/+4She was only 5 years-old in Raiders.
- tuxerware, on 05/05/2008, -0/+13Perhaps she drank from the holy grail?
- agentshiro, on 05/05/2008, -1/+1I'd like to drink from her holy grail if you nomsain ;)
- antdude, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Indy did too but he looks older. :P
- mahler, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2She was 30 years old in 1981 and now she is 56 years old.
I can see the difference:
(1981) http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMTQyODMxMTU4 ...
(2007) http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMTY0MjIwNDcw ... - JedicodeWarrior, on 05/05/2008, -1/+3A nip here, a tuck there, and a ***** load of botox!
- Hoogs, on 05/05/2008, -0/+5Please be good *crosses fingers*
- wildmXranat, on 05/05/2008, -1/+1Awesome and the wait is almost over!
- webman77, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3Great action but it seems that Indy looks a little bit tired in one scene. Apart from that it's a fantastic trailer with mouldered skillets, forties weapons and beautiful women.
- Lasereth, on 05/05/2008, -1/+10THANK YOU for using Its instead of It's.
- nickcozy, on 05/05/2008, -14/+3This movie is ***** pathetic like the rest of the Indiana Jones movies except 1st one,i don't know whats with all this hype.
- Zeigy, on 05/05/2008, -2/+3^WARNING!!^ ***** above. Initiating memory purge.
- 5celery, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1I agree entirely. Two words: Short Round
- skunkworker, on 05/05/2008, -2/+6Here it is in 720p HD.
http://downloads.paramount.com/mp/indianajones/trl ...- antdude, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Why not the best quality if your computer can handle it? http://downloads.paramount.com/mp/indianajones/trl ...
- FearisFailure, on 05/05/2008, -2/+23I just wish Sean Connery was going to be in it...
- ic4rus, on 05/05/2008, -2/+2this film looked amazing. I love the whole adventure archaeologist thing, it got such a wonderful sense of adventure so awfully copied and ruined by national treasure. I've always enjoyed the Indiana Jones movies, with or with out Sean Connery.
then you have to go and spoil it all by doing something stupid like putting Shia Lebouf in your movie. he is an ass hat of the highest order of magnitude- Dou6, on 05/05/2008, -0/+7Why the hate on Shia Lebouf? The kid is a pretty good actor and has carried what would have been otherwise total crap movies in the past. Do I find his casting in an Indiana Jones movie a bit sketchy? Yes. But I am going to at least give him a chance to see how it works out. IMO, Lebouf is a likeable character in many ways like Ford is, the issue I have is that I think to be a main character in an Indiana Jones movie you have to have some macho sexist flare like Harrison Ford can portray so well, and I am not sure if putting a weak beard on Lebouf will accomplish that. Though that certainly may not be the intent. Who knows, point is, wait for the movie.
- Zeigy, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2Shia Lebouf plays the panicky-always-on-edge part pretty well. He's like the asian kid in the other Indy films.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1How dare you not remember the name of Short Round!
And he was only in the second movie. There was no kid, Asian or otherwise, in the first one.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1How dare you not remember the name of Short Round!
- davydanko, on 05/05/2008, -5/+0nonononono..nono..shia..no...no..noooooo!mark my words, hes gonna ruin this film just like he ruined transformers!
- ic4rus, on 05/05/2008, -1/+1I just don't rate his acting. at all. maybe it was just Transformers, at which you can probably blame Michael Bay. I actually almost walked out of that movie
- thepretext, on 05/05/2008, -2/+4'No CG' my ass...
Good thing I requested a Raider's bash on my Adventurebilt.- dn11, on 05/05/2008, -3/+1WTH is everybody complaining about? Have you watched the other movies lately? They had some super cheesy FX that haven't stood the test of time. and BTW when people say "CG" they don't know WTF they are talking about. You mean composting? You mean matte painting? Seriously, there is no Jar Jar and not CG Yoda, relax.
- Goblin, on 05/05/2008, -1/+1I know Harrison is getting on a bit, but if they have a film with Indy composting, maybe spending time in his potting shed down the allotment, THEN we're in trouble. (Yeah, I know what you meant, but it was too easy)
- SkippyDoorknob, on 05/05/2008, -0/+4Indiana Jones and the Temple of You Kids Get Off My Lawn!

- BeyondGoodNEvil, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1You mean that Shia LaDouche guy?
- SSUK, on 05/05/2008, -3/+4I must be going crazy, or they used a DooM handgun sound effect in this trailer... Just before the German lady says "A simple 'yes' will do".
- mpwoodruff, on 05/05/2008, -2/+10Umm... how can a crystal skull be made out of solid gold? Shouldn't it be crystal?
- ic4rus, on 05/05/2008, -0/+7a skull of crystal. a city of gold. ancient south American myth that one. a city of gold. listen to it again
- mabhatter, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1they haven't really shown it yet... it's a bit of a secret.
- Firespray1138, on 05/05/2008, -1/+2Why is Karen Allen smiling in every single promotion pick or footage of her?! Yeah maybe she's happy to be back but seriously I saw a promo pick of her with that big grin on her face surrounded by Russians pointing guns at her! Still though, Dugg for greatness.
- Thud, on 05/05/2008, -0/+10Plastic surgery... she can no longer frown.
- rowlodge, on 05/05/2008, -1/+2i hate theaters, but cant wait for it to come out on dvd, probably a few months from now.
- peterinjapan, on 05/05/2008, -3/+1Hah! I *just* finished watching Indy Jones (as they call it in Japan) with my son, and we're both running around the house, cracking imaginary whips, and then I see this post. Woot! I'm so glad Harrison left Ally McBiel for Marion, she'll make an honest man out of him this time, I'm sure.
- darladoon, on 05/05/2008, -7/+3methinks this film is going to royally suck ass.
pretty much anything with either the name 'spielberg' or 'lucas' after it will suck.....
these guys are tired, old, way too rich, and way too entrenched in the corporate studio system to do anything original......- graemee, on 05/05/2008, -1/+1While you have your opinion, it's still wrong. While Lucas can not direct people very well, Spielberg can. They together are better than the parts. BTW they broke the entrenched corporate studio system.
- darladoon, on 05/05/2008, -0/+0"the broke the entrenched corporate studio system"
oh, man, that was a pretty hilarious claim. if what you meant to say was, "they created their own corporate studio system", then you would be correct.
- darladoon, on 05/05/2008, -0/+0"the broke the entrenched corporate studio system"
- 5celery, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1You are absolutely correct. People just have a very hard time letting go. This film will be another nail in the coffin that was buried 20 years ago.
- graemee, on 05/05/2008, -1/+1While you have your opinion, it's still wrong. While Lucas can not direct people very well, Spielberg can. They together are better than the parts. BTW they broke the entrenched corporate studio system.

- kingcam, on 05/05/2008, -1/+1Doesn't matter, no one can consider this film part of the Indiana Jones Canon; that would mean the we would have to accept that Dr. Jones rides bitch. Let me tell you something Indy does NOT ride bitch!
