- quigles3000, on 12/07/2007, -2/+45Looks like the cinematic equivalent of having a seizure while getting kicked in the nuts and playing Mario Kart.
I'M THERE! - tonicboy, on 12/07/2007, -1/+18FX look kinda cool, but Emile Hirsch is way too old to play Speed Racer. The actor should be about 16 years old.
- SlamShut, on 12/07/2007, -4/+19The effects look mildly interesting, but honestly, the rest of it looks stupid as *****.
- sjbdallas, on 12/07/2007, -1/+12I really enjoy movies that do something unique like this. Sin City or 300 might be examples of interesting camera and effects work. This movie looks to do the same thing with unique effects and imagery so i'm all for it.
- Error601, on 12/07/2007, -2/+12Will it be a long sequence of stills with a little bit of movement thrown in here and there?
- threemagic, on 12/07/2007, -2/+10>A live-action cartoon
yes.. that's EXACTLY what it is...very good - FelixdaaHack, on 12/07/2007, -2/+10Looks very next-gen, sharp, colorful CG, not surprising considering Wachowski brothers are behind it
- himalstorch, on 12/07/2007, -3/+10I wonder if Spritle and Chim Chim will be finding any dead hookers in Speed's trunk...
- DropTheOxygen, on 12/07/2007, -3/+10It's the Wachoski's remember? One of the brothers had gender reassignment surgery
- umbriago, on 12/07/2007, -5/+12I can't imagine what the message of Speed Racer could possibly be other than something along the lines of "we're Hollywood, and we are utterly, totally and completely out of original ideas."
- blankoboy, on 12/07/2007, -1/+7Some things are just better left 'as is'....this is one such example. Yuck...poor Spridle and Chim chim.
- Escamotage, on 12/07/2007, -1/+7I'd be disappointed if this doesn't hit IMAX 3D
- AmusedToDeath, on 12/07/2007, -0/+5"But it's still a great yarn about family and not selling out. That's an important message to the Wachowskis"
Heh. I wish that could have been an important message to them when they were making the two Matrix shiquels. - Mongo61, on 12/07/2007, -0/+5No, but his CLOSET did.
- InfinitySnatch, on 12/07/2007, -2/+7This might not be crazy enough to work.
- rush378, on 12/07/2007, -0/+4Looks hokey and ridiculous, but it can't be worse than the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 12/07/2007, -0/+4Thats what advertisers want.
- rabidg00se, on 12/07/2007, -1/+4What's wrong with that? Don't let the Scooby-Doo series throw you, this looks like a lot of fun.
- dspirito, on 12/07/2007, -0/+3reminds me of F-zero X for n64, I loved that.
- inactive, on 12/07/2007, -0/+3Yeah!!! Racer X!!!!!!
- gr4yscale, on 12/07/2007, -0/+3I can't wait to trip on some shrooms and watch this!
- Spamcan, on 12/07/2007, -1/+4Motion sickness + buttered popcorn = this movie
- KayinAngel, on 12/07/2007, -0/+3i miss chubby blonde buffalo '66 ricci.
that's probably just me. - engwar, on 12/07/2007, -0/+3We are the chorus and we agree.
We agree we agree we agree
// obscure? - TheNik, on 12/07/2007, -0/+3I can't understand why people don't like these effects more. The camera tricks look ***** awesome.
- Philbert, on 12/07/2007, -0/+3One thing I don't get. When I think of Christina Ricci from her earlier films like The Adams Family and Casper she seemed fairly intelligent. I haven't seen any of her later movies since Sleepy Hollow, but a couple years ago I saw her on a late night talk show (Conan I think) and she was acting like the stereotypical dumb blond. Almost like she was purposely trying to sound stupid. I kept expecting her to give up the act and go back to her real self, but she never did.
- kermithefrogand, on 12/07/2007, -0/+3wachowski brothers are no more!! they are now mere siblings!
- darksydxx, on 12/07/2007, -0/+3LMFAO look at the advertisemtn on the bottom right from PRICE GRABBER.com
http://usatoday.pgpartner.com/search_getprod.php/m ... - RapidEye, on 12/07/2007, -0/+3The shots of the Mach 5 gave me wood - man I LOVED that show when I was a kid!!!
Now if they can find a way to have Chim Chim and that stupid kid get run over by RacerX, it'll be a PERFECT Movie!!! =-) - swiftekho, on 12/07/2007, -0/+3I'm getting stoned for that....
- LLamaStar, on 12/07/2007, -5/+7Holy crap..this looks like total ass. :(
Someone needs to shoot the art director. - Philbert, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2F-Zero was all flat. This looks more like something out of the Wipeout series to me.
- SlamShut, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2Sweet Jesus, did you just make a Bored Of The Rings reference?
Obscure is ***** right, man. I'm probably one of about a dozen people in North America who would recognize that out of context. - arcangelgabriel, on 12/07/2007, -4/+6Wow, I can't wait to avoid this.
- Billions, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2"He's busy revving up the powerful Mach... 6? He's comin' at you so you... best not be a... dick?"
Something probably happens to the Mach 5, and Pops likely surprises Speed (and us too, the audience! *pffft*) by pulling the wraps off his latest creation: "It's untested, Speed, so be careful in that big race... It's the MACH 6!"
Yeah, I was in the theater for "The Voyage Home" when they unveiled the replacement for the Enterprise that was destroyed in "The Search for Spock." I guess now they opt to do it all in the same movie. - underdog138, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2She's done a few gems since then. Anything Else, Monster and Pumpkin come to mind.
- Spoomeister, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2I can't wait to watch someone else tripping on schrooms, watching this.
- inactive, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2What's next? Asrtoboy movie? Gforce ?
- kidcodea, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2chimp + ricci + shemale = promissing
- ElChapusero, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1Looks much better in the trailer than in the stills
- liquisoft, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1It's going to be hard to follow up a huge blockbuster trilogy like The Matrix, no matter what movie you're making. Hell, the Wachowskis were hardly able to follow up the original The Matrix with the sequels; most people you ask will say the original film was best. I'm sure it'll be awesome, visually, but I sincerely hope it lives up to expectations story-wise.
- Philbert, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1Astro Boy has been in production for some time now, it's due out in 2009
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0375568/ - llamagorama, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1They followed up the Matrix with V for Vendetta, remember? Then Speed Racer
- AnalogAssassin, on 12/07/2007, -1/+2That looks ridiculous.
- AmusedToDeath, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1I like my pronunciation better.
- engwar, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1Tim Tim Benzedrine.
Hash Boo Valvoline.
Clean clean for Gene
First second neutral park.
Hie thee hence thou leafy narc.
// and that's from memory. Jeez I'm a dork. - Radian, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1Yeah but at least they got some fat doughy kid with a bowlcut to play Spritle. Pretty authentic actually.
- inactive, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1It's pronounced "*****"
- Spoomeister, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1They did that already. It was called The Matrix: Revolutions.
- inactive, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1Fair enough.
