- unknownsoldierX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21My favorite quote from the first one:
Cage picks up a pair of modified eye glasses - "hmm. It appears to be some kind of ocular device." - VermiciousKnid, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23why?
- Charlotte_Web, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Thanks for dropping that major spoiler in the description without any warning... :-(
- blackkbot, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22You didn't give me a chance to guess.
- drlha, on 10/12/2007, -7/+20Because the first one made money?
- RCola, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Ed Harris a good guy that turns out to be bad? Isn't that every movie he is in?
- Cerebral, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I agree they should not do another movie as the first one was perfect. Well perfect meaning that the story was complete and there is no need to make a second one. This is what ruins movie franchises.
Can't a studio just be smart and create a new story which would give them a new IP?
I guess they are trying to turn this franchise into the next Indiana Jones franchise? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15as long as Diane Kruger is coming back I'll see it...she's like a smarter version of Alicia Silverstone
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+19HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA, This is an AWESOME parody of National Treasure. Such a ridiculous story.
Oh.. wait.. this is real? :( - cresswga, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12I guess I must be the only one here who liked it. It didnt take itself too seriously, like The Rundown, and was a lot of fun.
That said, I am not sure there was a need for a sequel. - johd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7In The Rock, he was the bad guy who turned out to be good at the end.
- OmniMe, on 10/12/2007, -16/+21The first National Treasure sucked, why would this one be any different?
Here, I discovered the cast also...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465234/ - AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -1/+6National Treasure was one of those movies that was so bad, it was good.
- cbreaker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"This is what ruins movie franchises."
The very word "franchise" indicates *more then one.* This isn't a franchise if they only made one movie, so there's nothing to ruin. - josegutz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"as long as Diane Kruger is coming back I'll see it...she's like a smarter version of Alicia Silverstone"
As long as Diane Kruger is coming out in a nude scene, I have no reason to watch it now after the spoiler has been revealed. - havok3114, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5ardnut
Indian Jones 4 is only closer if you are Paramont. Nobody else owns the IP to it. - drlha, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8It grossed $173million in the USA, so someone must have watched it. In fact, I watched it, and yes, it sucked.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Sounds like another Sensationalized Spam Story!
- berwiki, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5the Rundown was absolutely fantastic. If you haven't seen it, and you can get past the opening scene which is a bit 'macho'/silly, it is a great movie. Honestly, it's one of my favorites. (it sets up the movie)
National Treasure was entertaining, albeit, you realize the whole thing is fiction, but thats the point. When movies try to make you believe it happened and it's totally bogus, thats when I find it appalling and difficult to watch. - 98acura, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"Your best, losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and ***** the prom queen."
- catfish182, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Movie companies are dieing to ***** out a new Indiana Jones.
Right now to them this is the closest they are to it.
So they will pump out another one after another one.
I like Nick Cage in some movies but lets be honest he is a movie whore.
He will go where the money is. - ardnut, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"Movie companies are dieing to ***** out a new Indiana Jones.
Right now to them this is the closest they are to it."
Err... I would have thought Indiana Jones 4 was closer. - sikosmurf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4When I read this headline, at first I thought it was talking about a Night at the Museum 2 and I thought "Well, it made a lot of money, so I guess it makes sense." Then I read the description and thought it was talking about a DaVinci Code 2 and I thought "Well, it made a lot of money, so I guess it makes sense."
And then I realized exactly what movie to which it will be a sequel, and now I have no idea why they are making this movie. - utdrew182, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2see your above two examples
- k3nt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ unknownsoldierx
lol yes, Nick Cage can be a tool sometimes.
My favorite:
Sean Bean henchman: "It stands for Prison!"
Riley: "...Albequerque. See, I can do it too." - blackkbot, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8In my 12th grade Government class the teacher made us watch National Treasure. I blame the Texas educational system.
- Cerebral, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@cbreaker
That is not entirely true. The IP created when a movie comes out creates a franchise simply because there is other things associated with it like shirts, games, toys, posters etc.) I believe that once you have these things with licensing it becomes a franchise. Think of "ruining the franchise" as "ruining the name" or "ruining the reputation." - washcapsfan37, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3A friend of mine was recently cast to play an extra in the movie. Look for her credits as "Girl with bike". She'll be filmed on April 7th. I don't understand why she wasn't listed in the blog...
- fani, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Loved the first one and will see this one too...
Hopefully Diane Kruger is still in it... - Charlotte_Web, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dude, the film grossed $173 million, on a production budget of $100 million. It was the 9th highest grossing film of 2004, and was 109th all-time highest in the US.
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=nationaltreasure.htm - CzescToJa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There making a number two? Oh great, because the first one sucked balls.
- MatTipton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes, that movie sucked so bad... and it sucked so hard that it probably left a mark. Maybe that's what some people were looking for so whatever that's great... then it was "good" for them... BUT at the same time, those people should at least recognize how many different dimensions of sucking the movie had going on. I think part of the problem is that at the end of the day some people can't differentiate thier opinions and thier poor tastes from reality.
Reality is that it sucked... it sucked hard... and not in a good way. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I liked it. It was a cheesy diversion that I tried not to take too seriously and ended up having some fun.
- TheRunes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Discovered? Were they lost?
- Pile, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2People are stupid. Make a stupid movie, they will come.
- youngka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Treasure_2) Diane Kruger will be back in this one as well.
I liked the first one, and even bought the DVD. I certainly went into it expecting it to not be anything worthy of an award - and it wasn't (well, perhaps a comedy award for the goofy writing). I just took it for what it was, implausible, but fun.
Cheers! - michelrose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dugg that. Well done!
- bioskope, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A classic scene from the movie
http://youtube.com/watch?v=-Oiie4qBbEU - Eccohawk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1exactly. it's the kinda movie you can turn on in the background while you're cleaning the house or doing something else and just want background noise. it was entertaining, and didn't try to be something overly serious or dramatic. just entertainment for entertainment's sake. simple.
- graywolf323, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1buried due to spoiler in description
- spiffyfitz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe Nicolas Cage will actually emote in this one.
- WanderLink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yaarg! Why must they make sequels to LAME movies! The first one should've never even been made! Nicholas Cage is such a poser! You'll never be Indiana Jones, Cage! Or Elvis!
- nosto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The map to the treasure is... inscribed in the skull of lincoln! Lets get some lemon juice and q-tips right away!
No disrespect to the previous president intended. - news234, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1http://thedvdvideo.com/

- spotmonk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"National Treasure 2 Cast Discovered"
how was it discovered?
In the bottom of a cave?
If so.. put it back. - catfish182, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1well how soon is IJ 4 coming out?
I bet this one will be quicker and much more *****.
Compnies want that franchise cash cow that they can go to - OwdenBowden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As long as there are a few people dressed like Elvis - I am in
- sremick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1More yummy conspiracy twists. In a few more iterations, it'll read like The Illuminatus! Trilogy... except it'll suck pretty hard.
