- shogun042, on 10/11/2007, -1/+34i saw this, you didn't actually see any monsters. starts out with some kind of party, kids are getting drunk etc and this guy is walking around getting people to tell the camera what they like about some guy who's apparently leaving. after that i believe there was earthquake type stuff that everyone thought was an earthquake, they all go outside. it's hard to get what's going on because there are cuts between camera footage. there's all sorts of things crashing through buildings, it sounded like war of the worlds with these giant abstract noises followed by explosions/flaming debris crashing through buildings. the next camera footage is people scrambling to get inside, many trampled in the process. you see the statue of liberty head crash through a building and land on the ground at one point. the end of the trailer is just various chaos, no real plot details, then it says like january 18, 2008 at the end and i was pretty pissed because i was hoping it came out this year.

So, the trailer was pretty cool. There is a scene where you're looking over downtown New York from a rooftop (a mile or more out), and you see a MASSIVE MASSIVE explosion, as if all of downtown exploded. During the party scene the Wolfmother song "Joker and the Thief" is distinctly heard. Well, I looked at the lyrics and a line goes "standing in a field of CLOVER" And the album art on the inside depicts a giant iguana/lizard. This, therefore, is proof for my initial guess- GODZILLA! I know it sounds far-fetched but J.J. Abrams loves for his viewers to find clues like that. I know because he does the same thing with Lost."
