firstshowing.net — A brand new trailer for Get Smart has finally debuted. I talked extensively about how awesome this was in my WonderCon coverage, and now it's finally here! Get Smart stars Steve Carell as Agent 86 and Anne Hathaway as Agent 99 and is based on the classic Mel Brooks TV show.

The Rock is not a terrible actor. He is not great but he sure as hell isn't bad.- slvrbullet87, on 02/28/2008, -2/+1I actually think he was great in gridiron gang
- markperia, on 02/28/2008, -0/+18he's at least better than Hayden Christensen
- ramunenke, on 02/28/2008, -0/+16a lobotomized prarie dog is a better actor than Hayden Christensen
- compdude32, on 02/28/2008, -5/+0The Rock is a horrible actor, are you blind and deaf?
- Shambla, on 02/28/2008, -0/+14I actually thought he did pretty well in Be Cool.
- Alfredosauce, on 02/28/2008, -0/+7He's good at acting gay because he was a wrestler. I'm not saying wrestling is gay I'm just saying that you have to be very comfortable with your sexuality to wear speedos and wrestle with a man for a living.
- Laminarcissus, on 02/29/2008, -2/+0I think he's probably as comfortable in his sexuality as you are in your anonymity.
- Alfredosauce, on 02/28/2008, -0/+7He's good at acting gay because he was a wrestler. I'm not saying wrestling is gay I'm just saying that you have to be very comfortable with your sexuality to wear speedos and wrestle with a man for a living.
- gypsi, on 02/28/2008, -1/+1no, special effect
- bluezinc, on 02/28/2008, -0/+6No, you saw Dwayne Johnson acting. Apparently there's a difference.
- onionoino, on 02/28/2008, -0/+2no he was just acting like he was acting.
its fooled me before too. - DNABeast, on 02/28/2008, -0/+4The rock is a professional actor. Remember? He started out in Wrestling where all the great acting is.
- sanman, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1Hah, The Rock would have made a cool Hymie-the-Robot/Terminator type
But it looks like he's playing some other sidekick role
- dupswapdrop, on 02/28/2008, -1/+10This is a must see! get smart is back.

- stealthc, on 02/28/2008, -0/+24That's a little something we in "the industry" like to call a sight gag. It's like a joke but for your eyes.
- GoatBn, on 02/28/2008, -0/+5I dont know if you are making that up or not, but it sounds reasonable.
- acdcfanbill, on 02/28/2008, -0/+4Sight gag's are practically the oldest forms of jokes in movies since the first films were silent...

- Wonderama, on 02/28/2008, -0/+8Personal taste. If you're into the Pamela Anderson-type, then this girl is probably not for you.
- ligyron, on 02/28/2008, -3/+0You mean attractive?
- RobotCitizen, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1If by "attractive" you mean "plasticky, used-up, tatooed whore", then yes, Anne Hathaway is probably not for you.
- ligyron, on 02/28/2008, -3/+0You mean attractive?
- compdude32, on 02/28/2008, -1/+1Hathaway is one of the hottest in hollywood, not right for this role though, they cast her for sex appeal not ability to act, that will be the downfall of the movie.

- BestJaxx, on 02/28/2008, -0/+2Wow, I've never actually thought that she was hot since the first movie I saw her in was the Princess Diaries. Now that I've seen that, I can never go back.

- myranttoyou, on 02/28/2008, -21/+8"Get Smart is directed by comedic mastermind Pete Segal, who previously directed Naked Gun 33 1/3, Tommy Boy, Anger Management and 50 First Dates. The script was writen by Tom J. Astle (Failure to Launch) and Matt Ember (Failure to Launch)."
Wow, with names and films like that you really don't hype "Get Smart" too well.... Only an idiot would pay money to see Tommy Boy, Anger Management, 50 First Dates or Failure to Launch. Also, 33 1/3 was the worse of the "Naked Gun" movies.- Hypermarkalan, on 02/28/2008, -3/+22I can't believe you'd say that about Tommy Boy. Someone should come to your house and hit you in the head with a tack hammer, because you are a retard.
- myranttoyou, on 02/28/2008, -12/+1The irony is that you are the retard, to like that movie about a retard. I suggest you stop showing your ignorance online, and go watch it now. TBS and Comedy Central are airing is 24-7 for the next two month (as usual) to make sure they can systemically dumb down America for their advertisers.
- SuckMyDigg, on 02/28/2008, -1/+6That's a mighty high horse you're about to fall from... I'd suggest getting a ladder and taking it 1 rung at a time.
- krackajap, on 02/28/2008, -1/+5Did you eat paint chips and/or live under power lines when you were a kid?
- Smaulz, on 02/28/2008, -1/+3hehehh...... why?

- myranttoyou, on 02/28/2008, -2/+5I guess they couldn't get the director for "I Now Pronounce You Larry And Chuck", "Bring It On", "Ishtar" or "Insert Any Movie Based On a Video Game"? Too Bad.

- maxlightz, on 02/28/2008, -2/+5They already tried this like back in 1995 on Fox. I'm thinking Steve Carrell makes this one a winner though. I used to love watching all the original Get Smart reruns on Nick at Nite (the middle aged programming on Nickelodeon that aired after all the kiddies went to bed).
- thejwac, on 02/28/2008, -0/+2Yeah, but that was with Andy Dick...
- antdude, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1In Southern CA, KDOC (channel 56) is showing Get Smart on broadcast on weekdays at nights. I watched one last night that I have never seen before. I laughed. :)
- Cronikeys, on 02/28/2008, -6/+3I hope this becomes a trilogy, because everything about this movie looks awesome.
- Bixter, on 02/28/2008, -2/+3Really? You're hoping for sequels to a film you haven't seen yet?
- paulzy, on 02/28/2008, -0/+7I seriously can't wait until the prequel trilogy.
- RealmDown, on 02/28/2008, -0/+5I'm holding out for the FINAL reworked directors cut of the entire boxed set with extras.

- Adrianne, on 02/28/2008, -1/+16It seems like they have done a really good job of recreating the humor of Get Smart without doing a direct impression of it.
I grew up with this show on Nick at Nite and can't wait to see it on the big screen.
It even comes out on my birthday. Yay!- cgrickard, on 02/28/2008, -0/+5oh man, so many nights watching this as a kid on Nick @ Night. check out the nude bomb movie....pretty funny (way better than any of the other GS movies).

- kingUssop, on 02/28/2008, -2/+25Phew, and I thought Hollywood was out of ideas.
- Jig813, on 02/28/2008, -12/+0Actually they are, read the thing, it's based on a Mel BrooksTV show. Haven't had an original idea go mainstream in a long time. It's all about taking old ideas and making them newer shinier and more contemporary.
- doctechnical, on 02/28/2008, -0/+21There's a light blinking on your dashboard... it says "SERVICE SARCASM MODULE SOON".
- compdude32, on 02/28/2008, -0/+0They need to get Mel Brooks involved, I am afraid this is going to be a major flop.

- algo, on 02/28/2008, -1/+4today was the first time i'd even heard of any of this (being english). i thought there were some good gags in it and not even any toilet humour.
- vixtt, on 02/28/2008, -8/+4errr, looks lame. expected better
- Dometheus, on 02/28/2008, -0/+1Would you believe....the Movie missed it by that much..........
- gypsi, on 02/28/2008, -0/+1fool, you can't defeat Jor-El and General Zod combined
- macweirdo42, on 02/28/2008, -0/+4I'd be more excited, but I'm just too worried that it won't live up to the TV show. See, that's the problem with updates/remakes. Too much pressure to be as good as the original. Personally, I'd like to see remakes of crappy movies and TV shows and such. That way, you go into it with zero expectation and so you're almost guaranteed not to hate it. We could start with remaking a bunch of video game movies. Just think of how ridiculously easy it would be to make a Super Mario Bros. movie or a Doom movie that didn't suck balls!
- TheShom, on 02/28/2008, -0/+34Dugg For "Did you see anything when I was dancing?"
"Just once, but I don't think you expected him to lift you so high."
...Silence.
ROFLMAO - pentak, on 02/28/2008, -1/+2I was actually laughing at that.
- flogistan, on 02/28/2008, -1/+2It never occurred to me that the opposing group of chaos in the tv series was control, rather than order. Back then, nobody had any idea what was happening. We just trusted government.
- horscategorie, on 02/28/2008, -0/+2It's Kaos. Duh.
- flogistan, on 02/28/2008, -0/+1Thanks for the correction. Is this Siegfried?
- doctechnical, on 02/28/2008, -0/+5Yeah, in the 60s everyone trusted the government. And the Monkeez were the greatest band, evar.
- antdude, on 02/29/2008, -0/+2HARM! Oh wait, wrong series (No One Lives Forever).
- horscategorie, on 02/28/2008, -0/+2It's Kaos. Duh.
- SpeakerCity, on 02/28/2008, -6/+5Buried for being submitted by MSaleem. I'm tired of the "Super Submitters" running the front page.
- Exbzurg, on 02/28/2008, -0/+1QQ more?
- Sidzilla, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1I fought that fight as hard as anyone. I found that whining is not conducive to change, and the super users seem to have upped the quality of their submissions once the spotlight was on them. I even dugg a MrBabyman story or two in the last few weeks. I think we need to take a breath and just realize we aren't all on opposing sides. This is an interesting post, it isn't a dupe as far as I can tell, and so it deserves to be dugg. If you want, add me to your friends. I accept shouts and digg any story I like. I think we can all become super users if we invest the time and effort. I'm just too lazy to do it myself.
- cgrickard, on 02/28/2008, -0/+10sure it's gonna be amazing. really wish mel brooks was involved though...
- McHoffa, on 02/28/2008, -0/+2I wish the people that create most characters actually got a say in what happens later with their characters. Most get ruined when the studios sell the rights to some idiot writer/director combo.
- flogistan, on 02/28/2008, -1/+1Mel Brooks contributed his name to the original and nothing else. He was off the project before the first episode was made.
- cgrickard, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1umm, i dunno that that's true....he does commentary on season one box set.
- cgrickard, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1imdb.....brooks has writing credit on 40 episodes.
- flogistan, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1Looks like I was victimized by an organized propaganda campaign from the movie studio before the new movie was made. If you rewrite history, people will read it and repeat it. Scary.

- TheZorch, on 02/28/2008, -0/+4LOL! I can't wait. I grew up watching Get Smart reruns on TV. Most hilarious show on TV back in those days.
- antdude, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1Same here. It is still shown. In Southern CA, KDOC (channel 56) is showing Get Smart on broadcast on weekdays at nights. I watched one last night that I have never seen before. I laughed. :)
- lohphat, on 02/28/2008, -0/+3The head of Chaos is a Drag Queen named "Bernadette"?
NEVER call her Ralph.- penguingeek, on 02/28/2008, -0/+4That's KAOS but that's just me being nit-picky.
- markdelete, on 02/28/2008, -0/+1like the KLAW?
- lohphat, on 02/28/2008, -0/+1Not KLAW, KRAW!!!
- markdelete, on 02/28/2008, -0/+1like the KLAW?
- markdelete, on 02/28/2008, -0/+1uhh didnt his character in Persilla get the snip? so technically wouldnt be a drag queen anymore. only Agent Smith & Guy Pierce had their willies intact.
- penguingeek, on 02/28/2008, -0/+4That's KAOS but that's just me being nit-picky.
- starf, on 02/28/2008, -2/+25"Steve Carell looks like he's going to pull off Maxwell Smart almost better than Don Adams"
Nope, sorry. Don Adams was Maxwell Smart. That's just heresy.
That being said, still very anxious to see this.- Gizza, on 02/29/2008, -0/+4Steve Carell looks the part, but he hasn't quite got the voice. That being said, this looks like it's going to be a good movie.

LMFAO- Sneezyx, on 02/28/2008, -4/+1Agreed! Unfortunately, that was the only funny part of the trailer.
- theghoul, on 02/28/2008, -3/+1That's the second funniest trailer I've ever seen.
/humor - cmuwriter, on 02/28/2008, -2/+4It actually does make sense!

- compdude32, on 02/28/2008, -2/+0Um....... I am going to have to go ahead and disagree on that one.
- frankenfag, on 02/28/2008, -3/+3An MPAA film based on a TV show. No thanks!
- atomicwedgie, on 02/28/2008, -0/+3Alan Arkin is like the dad I never had... oh wait, I have a dad. Ok, he's like the dad I might have had but didn't since I have a different dad. Geez... anyway, Alan Arkin and the rock should make this worth seeing.
- TreDubZedd, on 02/28/2008, -0/+6As much as I dislike Steve Carell's acting in general, I really can't think of anyone better suited to play the part of Agent 86. I really hope he nails the part, but I'm afraid he'll over-dramatize it, as he is prone to do.
- markdelete, on 02/28/2008, -0/+3no he will just scream alot, which he thinks is funny. there doesnt seem to be any nasaly sounding over acting at all, which is the problem.
- Japhthor, on 02/28/2008, -0/+6Unfortunately for me, I have immensely high hopes for this movie. My kids have wisely inherited an enormous appreciation for Smart. :)
