- Nivardus, on 01/12/2009, -8/+186Well that was one of the most cliche trailers I've seen in awhile.
- Poobah6, on 01/12/2009, -1/+151In a world of crazy tea enthusiasts, Jack Skellington is back. And, this time, its no party.
- T8erT0T, on 01/12/2009, -1/+93Agree.
1) Gritty voice narration (Check)
2) Music track similar, if not identical, to Sin City (Check)
3) Corny profound one-liner at the end of trailer (Check) - kelaltieri, on 01/12/2009, -5/+85i don't know about badass ..
- hospitalcio, on 01/12/2009, -5/+70Where's the turtle?
- johnnick, on 01/12/2009, -1/+64The trailer certainly wasn't a "must watch," but the movie looks like it could be a combination of V for Vendetta, Watchmen and Dark City - which could be very cool or very, very bad.
- everlast88, on 01/12/2009, -2/+65Where's Franklin? GOB's black puppet?
- diggum85, on 01/12/2009, -3/+60Bring out the Gimp.
- evilhomestereo, on 01/12/2009, -2/+51Ryan Phillippe and Eva Green unknown? News to me.
- tokkio, on 01/12/2009, -8/+51Rorschach, is that you?
- xqb4dpx, on 01/12/2009, -3/+46are you retarded? thats the chick from Casino Royale.
- belebih, on 01/12/2009, -6/+47Indie? Really? That word has lost all meaning it seems.
- QueEsAmor, on 01/12/2009, -0/+37Gimp's sleeping.
- SatansMagicHat, on 01/12/2009, -11/+47I think someone needs to find out what "neo-noir" means.
- daeus, on 01/12/2009, -3/+39I duno the trailier didnt really seem so epic
- swaxhog, on 01/12/2009, -0/+35Well, I guess you're gonna have to go wake him up now, won't you?
- 23cranberries, on 01/11/2009, -1/+33As opposed to the obvious fact that a well known director with a well known cast produces a stellar movie. Case in point - Australia.
/s - crackedlogic, on 01/12/2009, -7/+38my first thought: sci-fi channel movie quality.
You can't beat GIGANTIC TOP HATS. - surfacewound, on 01/12/2009, -0/+29You mean like Star Wars?
- LookItsJoe, on 01/12/2009, -1/+27Eva Green was the Bond girl in Casino Royale, and is an amazing actress. Ryan Phillippe was a lead in Breach, one of the best political/espionage films in recent history, as well as Crash and Flags of our Fathers.
The only arguable "no name" is Sam Riley, but having seen him in Control, I can say he's a damn good upcoming star. - hallihg, on 01/12/2009, -10/+32Looks nice. The dystopian-18th-century-London-inthe-future look of the city was amazing.
- flashpointbob, on 01/12/2009, -2/+24It looks almost like it wants to be a steam-punk Watchmen
- kimmo, on 01/12/2009, -1/+23Eva Green = Yummy.. :P
Just watch "The Dreamers"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0309987/ - MMilitia, on 01/12/2009, -4/+26This is exactly the kind of film that looks interesting in trailer form but is probably really rather bad in film form.
- Ferago, on 01/12/2009, -1/+22True, but at least there was no one going "NOOOOoooooo" in the rain, or a bunch of dumb looking soldiers screaming "MOVE MOVE MOVE GO GO GO!!!!"
- theghoul, on 01/12/2009, -0/+20I got a new idea for a Halloween costume now. Sweet.
- Culyt, on 01/12/2009, -2/+22I like turtles...
- levi88, on 01/12/2009, -5/+23Noir is a french film style focusing on dark shiznit. If you've watched Dark City, you'll see a shining example of a noir movie. So I suppose neo-noir implies a revival of the noir genre.
- canudiggit123, on 01/12/2009, -10/+27He seems a little bit like Rorschach to me.
- Korde, on 01/12/2009, -6/+20I dont care what anyone says, but Eva Green and Ryan Phillipe rock my boxers.
- rabidbob, on 01/12/2009, -0/+14You mean like Mad Max?
- Zenham, on 01/12/2009, -2/+15Missing from that list:
1) "In a world...." voiceover by Don LaFontaine (R.I.P.)
2) Car/motorcycle chase
3) Bomb/bullet POV camera shots - Akaziel, on 01/12/2009, -0/+13you're gonna be that guy at the party everyone asks "What are you supposed to be?"
- lawlzbot, on 01/12/2009, -1/+12he's got a point... GIGANTIC TOP HATS
- Akaziel, on 01/12/2009, -0/+11I think the movie itself looks like it could be decent, but it's got like the most half-assed attempt at steampunk/gaslight I've ever seen. It's like "Oh um...we have mutton chops, and our cops wear giant oversized top hats, and....uh....that's all we've got. Sorry."
- vicsvenge, on 01/12/2009, -2/+12reminds me of dark city
- IAmTheGuy, on 01/12/2009, -0/+10It ain't easy being brown...
- fasda, on 01/11/2009, -1/+11the trailer still looked pretty cool and people have to get their breaks somewhere
- belebih, on 01/12/2009, -3/+12No, I understand it perfectly well. It's you who seems to have missed the point. Beyond just the lack of affiliation with a major studio, indie used to describe lower budgets, unknown actors, and the desire to exalt good acting over eye candy out of both necessity and will. This, on the other hand, looks just as well funded as other similar big studio stylized effects wankfests we've seen in recent years and in years to come.
Granted it does look like a fun movie, maybe a great movie. But describing it as "indie" is kind of meaningless considering there's people out there making actual indie films on total budgets that are less than what they probably paid Ryan Phillipe alone for this one. - Myztry, on 01/12/2009, -1/+10Eva Green and a bath scene - I'm there.
Oh, and the movie looks pretty interesting too... - Burns7007, on 01/12/2009, -0/+9Hey it's Franklyn comin' over to my house!
- depro9, on 01/12/2009, -15/+23This looks like a bunch of stinky pretentious cheese. NEXT!
- ChaoticNick, on 01/12/2009, -0/+8Especially Eva Green.
- eddie72, on 01/12/2009, -1/+9Eva Green isn't no name as she's quite famous, what movies have you been watching?
- Korde, on 01/12/2009, -0/+8oh hell yeah.
best Bond girl? - Lasereth, on 01/12/2009, -0/+7Easily the most beautiful.
- LemonChicken, on 01/12/2009, -0/+7My uncle sat next to Chewbacca on an airplane.
- je12u, on 01/12/2009, -0/+7Don't worry...He's comin' over to play.
- StickWST, on 01/12/2009, -1/+8my number of digs will determine my truthiness
People that refer to indie as an entire genre of music are retarded. -
