Bittorrent is becoming a social phenomena, creating "cults" in several age groups and surely advancing in its scope of use. why are all the popular, overhyped movies so bad :-( - Ryosen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Snakes on a Plane was a piece of crap. It was conceived as a piece of crap, it was marketed as a piece of crap, and it died as a piece of crap.
The only reason that it was hugely popular on the Internet was that it was a joke. The movie's "popularity" was as a punchline, one that was misunderstood by Hollywood as fandom and buzz. We were all laughing at them and they were too blinded by dollar signs to realize that.
The fact that the movie is #1 on bittorrent is solely because of people's curiosity and the fact that it can be obtained for free. I would be extremely surprised if this were a reliable indicator for DVD sales. If the studios thought this was going to be such a smash on DVD, they would have released it in the first week of December, in anticipation of the holidays, and not dumping it off during the worst month in retail, January. - dignation, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2too bad it doesn't include torrents

I paid to see it, had a great time (it was the perfect "audience movie"), and then regularly checked the box office receipts in the coming days to see how well it was doing. Well, as most of you probably know, ticket sales were FAR under expectations. I was baffled.
Now, it's one of the hottest torrents around, even beating out the REAL blockbusters of 2006. Does this mean the DVD is going to sell through the roof? I sure as ***** hope so! The film its self is a shameless B movie and that is what makes it a great film its supposed to be stupid and bad and that is what makes it a good film.
