- RyeBrye, on 10/12/2007, -2/+34Wow. There is a reason this footage was lost.
- Niffer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Same here. I digg.
Not all of us bought the 27 different releases of the original trilogy. - omnithought, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14It may be old news, but it's the first I'd heard of it. Dugg.
- Lexomatic, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16These are not the scenes you are looking for *waves hand at digg readers*
j/k - cool find - mac0Fd00m, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12totally passed by me. Dugg.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I'm a big fan (without being a crazy fanatic) this is the first time I've seen this footage too. dugg
- pingsmoth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Where was the footage found, exactly?
- astrosmash, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9You've really nailed the problem on the head. Throw a few exclamation points in the title and everyone diggs it without actually checking it out. Digg should automatically strip that crap out.
- chadu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8yeah... a blast from the past, but still cool to see. the recut with the music is kinda nice actually.
- astrosmash, on 10/12/2007, -8/+14Give HMTKSteve a break. He's only nine years old.
- nonokiaboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Dugg for copyright infringement. Will this guy get sued?
- dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6No, you don't. You miss the *idea* of a massively multiplayer online role playing game in the star wars universe that doesn't suck. I really tried to like the game, which is so sad.
- gamabunta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This has been floating around fanmade DVDs for years.
- davetoast14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I remember seeing this footage with different audio on an old Star Wars: Behind the Magic CD-ROM.
- noeljohnhoward, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4leon hadrows droid box
- Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I agree. While I do love me some Star Wars, I tend to zone out a bit during the political parts.
- dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I feel the exact same way, now I'm waiting for someone to find the deleted scene from Empire with the Hoth Snow Creatures in the base, and the one from Jedi where they have to deal with the sand storm. I don't think either one really needs to get added back into the films, but it would be nice to see the scenes that I have read about. There is even a trailer for Empire that shows 3P0 removing a warning/caution sign from a door supposedly containing the snow creatures (since the imperials are in the base.)
- zarand, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4awesome footage. I've seen abbreviated forms of this but never the whole thing
- magicRob, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8Lame, it's someones remix of a radio broadcast and some footage that has recently become popular again. The footage was a bonus on a Star Wars media disc (remember those) more than 10 years ago...
- jayeates, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"were's the undigg buttton?"
In your user profile, where it lists all the articles you've dugg, there should be an 'undigg' link beneath each article. - mbthompson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2George Lucas's trash can. X-D
- HiddenPeanuts, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I remember seeing still shots of this scene in the Star Wars book (the one illustrated with pictures of the movie) as a kid. With every new edition, I've been more surprised that Lucas hasn't cut it back in.
- Namco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Sweet. I've never even heard of this footage. Digg++
- evilspoons, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, that was horrible. Digg 'cause it's hilarious...
- jonom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There is, go into your profile to list recently dugg stories and you can undigg from there. ;)
- pbh101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i remember it too...
i thought it was kinda like the TPM novel where it starts on tatooine with anakin crashing watto's podracer
it kinda makes me wish some of the subplots that are mentioned in the movies (old and new) were kept in... stuff like boba fett being a bigger character, along with all those other bounty hunters that we see for exactly .5 second then disappear, but all have names in the picture books, and then appear in non-sanctioned stuff like shadows of the empire (IG-88)
or wedge... he should totally have been a bigger character
he was always my favorite - aquax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've seen these clips a while ago as part of the Star Wars: Deleted Magic fan film. Kinda neat stuff for any SW übernerd.
- thecabanaboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The dialog actually reminded me of the prequels. Talking about politics and such, it was actually kind of interesting b/c I thought all of the political talk was just a part of the prequels and was (thankfully) not in the first three movies.
I understand that some of the scenes were necessary in the prequels to show how the empire came to be, but until the last prequel, where was ANY of the action of the first three? I am not trying to start up yet another discussion about the first 3 trilogies vs the 2nd three, just interesting the George had all of the political plot lines planned in the very first movie. - gluckman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2were's the undigg buttton?
- Brutal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Never seen it before, so +1 digg
- ctinsley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, the opening scene was dubbed from the radio footage, but the scenes with Luke and Biggs were not. Aside from Mark Hamill, all the other voices were done by different actors on the radio series.
- deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cease & desist probably.
- studiorats, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't remember seeing this scene before -- which Star Wars commemorative release was it in...too damn many to keep track I suppose. I just remember standing in line at the Graumann's Chinese Theatre when it opened. No costumes in those days, just roach clips and boda bags.
- slantyeyed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i remember pictures of this scene in various children's star wars books when I was younger
- ByteGuerilla, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"I am not trying to start up yet another discussion about the first 3 trilogies vs the 2nd three, just interesting the George had all of the political plot lines planned in the very first movie."
Where can I get my hands on all eighteen of these films you speak of?
j/k
In all seriousness, about the plot lines. Lucas wrote all six episodes (and there are rumours of a further two that are apparently incredibly long, but I'm not sure of the veracity of these rumours) as part of an original set of films, but was only granted one for production. So he picked the one he thought would do best as a standalone film, and made that. It was such a hit that V and VI had to be made, and then later on it was demanded that the first trilogy be made too. He did make some edits to the details of the plot, such as tailoring the manner of the fall of the Republic and the rise of the Empire to reflect the Bush Administration. These crazy directors and their politics, eh?
Anyway it was good to see that missing footage. I hope they have some cleaner versions out there. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yup old for a sw fan, new for the rest of us.
I don't see how the acting was significantly worse than any scene with Mark Hamill from Star Wars. - waxdart, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Fake. Audio is from the 70s radio dramas.
- bluebearr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1snore.
- thecabanaboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Where can I get my hands on all eighteen of these films you speak of?"
Oh Lucas is putting them out. He is going to have the Special-Special Edition. The Blue-Ray edition the HD DVD Edition. The "now R2D2 fires first at Greedo, then Greedo fires at R2D2, then Han fires at Greedo in the cantina" edition. Don't worry R2D2 will somehow be added by computer even though droids are not allowed into the cantina ;-)
I bet if you have bought all of the versions of the original trilogy you would own 18 movies by now. - shards, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree, it might be nothing to a non-SW fan, but for a fan (especially a younger generation one) it's an interesting piece to watch.
- calebdesu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I wish there was an undigg button
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2because the movie was already long enough. if it were the empire strikes back and part of an already established series, it probably would have stayed in, but since A New Hope was kinda the first the editing dept got to go wild
- garrettnb, on 10/12/2007, -11/+10man, i should really watch things before i digg them, good thing for the undigg button
- maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1USE THE FORCE, LUKE
- easyfrag, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I remember seeing this in the theatre when I was a young'un, I don't know why the Biggs scene stuck with me cause its boring and the acting is awful. A couple of years later when I saw SW again on VHS (actually it may have been betamax, Christ I'm getting old) I saw Biggs get killed during the Death Star battle and recall thinking wtf? I wondered why Lucas cut that, now I know. By the way did Vader kill Biggs?
- diafel, on 10/12/2007, -9/+7Hello and welcome to 9 years ago
- DSK123, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Now I miss swg :(
- gladding, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Brokeback Tattoine?
/I got nothin' - Marthinus, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0I must admit I never got the whole Star Wars hype / euphoria. Looks like footage that should be misplaced again I think, but then again I am no Star Wars fan.
Though I must admit the Star Wars merchandise is very nice, of that I am a fan.
http://www.marthinusswart.com - datagod, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Cool! At first I though the voice was Billy West...but on second thought maybe it is...!
