- inactive, on 06/26/2008, -3/+22I can't think of a better person to make a music video list.
- jahurt, on 06/27/2008, -2/+13Surprised this didn't make the list

Yeah, it reeks of '80's pop, but the video was pretty cool. - jstohler, on 06/27/2008, -3/+13Mommy, make Aphex Twin go away.
- TheCarDude, on 06/26/2008, -2/+11agreed. Gondry has put out some amazing work.
- mattnyc99, on 06/27/2008, -2/+10gondry is a god
- dalnet22, on 06/27/2008, -7/+15whoever dug me down - ***** you - it took me like 5 minutes to compile that for your lazy ass's sake.
- tonytroz, on 06/27/2008, -2/+10You're a poet and you didn't even realize it.
- brettmurf, on 06/27/2008, -0/+7Maybe because Gondry made "Around the World"?
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 06/27/2008, -1/+7What the ***** is wrong with you?
- aimhelix, on 06/27/2008, -7/+12Ahem.. where is this - the best video of all time?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBGIQ7ZuuiU
- alapoet, on 06/26/2008, -1/+6I love that he called R. Kelly's "Closet" video "hilariously awful"!
- nobody98, on 06/27/2008, -1/+6No fat boy slim weapon of choice? :O
- kasatie48, on 06/27/2008, -2/+7aphex twin's come to daddy might be the creepiest music video i've ever seen.
I WANT YOUR SOUL - wantknowledge, on 06/27/2008, -0/+4Windowlicker by Aphex Twins
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1P3Wc-37pC4 - smoothlou, on 06/27/2008, -2/+6No A-Ha Take On Me? :(
- faraggi, on 06/27/2008, -0/+4Well, Michel Gondry doesn't like them...
- KrazyKoala, on 06/27/2008, -3/+7Hmm. I'm a bit disappointed that there isn't a single Radiohead video.
"Just," "Street Spirit" and "Paranoid Android" all come to mind.
Good list otherwise. - MrTito, on 06/27/2008, -1/+525 pages? Are you ***** kidding me?
- DeathJux, on 06/27/2008, -0/+4The video for Star Guitar is so good. So so good.
EDIT: Here it is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBgf2ZxIDZk - inactive, on 06/27/2008, -2/+5Hey, just my two cents, and I'm sure lots of you will disagree, but I'd much rather see any of these than almost anything on Gondry's list.
The Talking Heads (well, just David Byrne) - Psycho Killer (live from 'Stop Making Sense'): Byrne walks out with a boom box and kills. Couldn't find a properly letterboxed version:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdp42fYKFZ8
The Ordinaires - Kashmir: Dude. It's The Ordinaires doing 'Kashmir.' Excellent kind of Italian neo-realist vibe. Love the subtitles.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXcx26OI7Es
Ben Folds Five - One Angry Dwarf And 200 Solemn Faces: Fun premise combined with an excellent performance-ish video. Great stuff.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pWB2N0_TxM
Beastie Boys - Shadrach: One of the greatest music videos of all time.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dciESSrWyKE
Diamanda Galas - Double Barrel Prayer: Guaranteed to clear out the last stragglers at a party. Something about pointing a gun at your audience that always appealed to me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9T29Lqpi2RQ
Roxy Music - The Main Thing: The opening is almost abstract with patterns being projected on the asses of Parisian dancing girls. From there on out the groove just keeps making me...ok, makes me want to see those Parisian asses again, but it's still a great video that evokes a kind of romantic Parisian night-life thing that works into Ferry's persona.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B20CCrIx6Kk
Bauhaus - Ziggy Stardust: The band creates a reality for themselves that carries on for the next 30 years.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eE24VBf73tw
Nine Inch Nails - Gave Up: Filmed inside the house where the Manson family killed Sharon Tate. One of the coolest in-the-studio videos ever.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4xBMkWu1pE
The Church - Reptile: Live in North Carolina. UV lights making the white clothing in the audience glow blue. Great performance. Creepy atmospherics.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWhV2l9QPxw
Jimmy Hendrix - Can You See Me: Denny Dent and his Two-Fisted Art Attack. RIP Denny. Jimi too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsJWnt6dwxM
Van Halen - Dance the Night Away: Ed's not in rehab yet. Mike doesn't look like Billy Crystal yet. Young and at the top of their game. Captured backstage doing the kind of schtick they used to do for the press before the song starts. Classic. When this kind of rock was still fun.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amTTucWPznc
My Chemical Romance - I'm Not Okay (I Promise): Whether you love or hate the band, this is one of the most entertaining videos in years.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OF9UB_xrhMI - benzzene, on 06/27/2008, -0/+3"Believe" by the Chemical Brothers is awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JCu0LDyuJY
- gamben0, on 06/27/2008, -0/+3Wow, great layout, right?
- Trax852, on 06/27/2008, -0/+3Thanks for the listing, I wasn't going to go 27 pages for this.
- humboldt79, on 06/27/2008, -0/+3Wow, am I really about to say that the music videos from back in the day are way better than the ones today?
- wastelander, on 06/27/2008, -1/+4:-)
http://www.cnettv.com/9742-1_53-6882.html - Mothh, on 06/27/2008, -0/+3One of my Favs is Squarepusher - Come on My Selector:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxEb2FrQUbE
Oh and Smack My Bitch Up, the real video, not the American one:
http://www.kewego.com/video/iLyROoaftJ5_.html - skags, on 06/27/2008, -0/+3That's nothing compared to Aphex Twin's 'Rubber Johnny.' ***** Chris Cunningham and his nightmare inducing imagery.
- quomen, on 06/27/2008, -0/+3It's on your list of 25 classic music videos.
- Yage2006, on 06/27/2008, -1/+4Much better then one on each friggin page and having to click next i ***** hate that. thanks for saving me the trouble.
- BabyWookie, on 06/28/2008, -1/+3No classic Nine Inch Nails videos? No Sin, Happiness In Slavery, Closer or The Perfect Drug? That's pretty ghey.
- pelgi109, on 06/28/2008, -0/+2Is Marilyn Manson playing guitar in the "Gave Up" music video?
- gl77, on 06/27/2008, -0/+2i prefer Dave Chappelle as R. Kelly singing of "piss on you" better than R. Kelly's "trapped in the closet"
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 06/27/2008, -1/+3Woooooow
- gl77, on 06/27/2008, -0/+2"Praise You" by Fatboy Slim is pretty cool IMO. just a home video shot of a breakdance team on a New York street.
- BabyWookie, on 06/28/2008, -0/+2"Nine Inch Nails - Gave Up: Filmed inside the house where the Manson family killed Sharon Tate. One of the coolest in-the-studio videos ever."
Agreed, but have you seen the "Gave Up" video from the Broken tape? *****, that's gotta be the most ***** up video that's even remotely main-stream, ever. - tenspeedogbb, on 06/27/2008, -3/+5I love all the respect he shows Spike Jonze. The two have had very similar careers and borrow a lot of elements from each other, and I'm a huge fan of both their bodies of work.
- DeathJux, on 06/27/2008, -2/+425 music VIDEOS (not even the music by itself) somehow represent the entire "business?"
It tells you what one particular director likes. - humboldt79, on 06/27/2008, -0/+2That just made almost interested in music video again.
- ff4marvel, on 06/27/2008, -4/+6where the ***** is Thriller
- brettmurf, on 06/27/2008, -0/+2He has a DVD out that has already done that. It has been out for years, and is very good.
On the same label are also the Chris Cunningham videos. Get those too. - Modulo, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1I want Gondry and Jonez and Cunningham to form a video supergroup and just constantly make music videos but I don't even really care if there is even any music to justify the videos, if they have a song for the video, fine, but if not, who cares, just... you know ... video.
Video! - bat-21, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1From Your Mouth by God Lives Underwater directed by Roman Coppola:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9itgAyS4KKs - Spoonicus, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1that would be Chris Cunningham's 'Rubber Johnny'. Scored by Aphex Twin (a.k.a. Richard D James)
- brundlefly76, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Sabotage is epic - it is one of the best videos which blew my mind the very first time I saw it. He picked a great visual aesthetic for that song, storyboarded and shot it perfectly, and the band was fantastic in it. It was perfect at a time when I didnt really care about videos anymore.
- inactive, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1He's pretending to play guitar. He's essentially just an actor in this video.
- cryingtiger, on 06/28/2008, -0/+1Here there are on one playlist:
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=1E5978F4AE ... - DeathJux, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1Awesome! Thanks for that... that gives me ideas on how to set up my own music video creations.
Michel Gondry is awesome. - Modulo, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1 Is 'LukeUlrich' being pedantic? Report it
