- maj0rm0j0, on 09/04/2008, -9/+87"Moore said that “Slacker Uprising” cost about $2 million to make and that he will end up paying about $1 million out of his pocket. Neither he nor the distributor, Brave New Films, plan to profit from the release."
This is the kind of conduct that makes me want to pay to see it. Is there any way to donate toward the production costs? - davidrools, on 09/05/2008, -2/+44http://slackeruprising.com
Trailer online now. - bigpun, on 09/05/2008, -8/+47Every time I see him, he looks more and more like Peter from Family Guy.
- jayobear, on 09/05/2008, -5/+33I think Moore's rich enough from the successes of his books and films. Profiting from this would cause skepticism about his motives. This is an honorable move on Moore's part.
- jayobear, on 09/05/2008, -6/+33I've questioned Moore's motives in the past (although I've agreed with his message most of the time albeit not as passionately or over-emotional as he). This really shows that he's in this to help and not just doing it for fame or money.
- PhillAholic, on 09/05/2008, -21/+41I don't care if you agree with the man's general point of view, he's a sleazy film maker that uses tricks and persuasion to make his points seem like common sense. Even if his films are in our best interests, acting just like the politicians and lobbyists he's trying to expose is hypocrisy. I mean seriously, anyone that needs to stretch the truth about George W. Bush in order to get people not to vote for him is a sinister human being. No half-truth's or altered perspective is needed for that.
/rant - nitemonkey, on 09/05/2008, -2/+17Surely you're not stupid enough to assume that because someone dislikes Moore they must be a Neocon?
- jayobear, on 09/05/2008, -2/+17Michael Moore supports file-sharing.
- ChoobaChabba, on 09/05/2008, -6/+14Horaay! Now I won't have to illegally down- uh I mean buy it from my nearest video retailer...
- wtrwlkr, on 09/05/2008, -3/+11FTA: If history is any measure, “Slacker Uprising” could have made a decent sum in theaters. His last two films, “Sicko” ($24 million) and “Fahrenheit 9/11” ($119 million) are two of the three highest grossing documentaries ever.
You fail at reading comprehension. - SanFran1, on 09/05/2008, -2/+9He has to give it away, because nobody buys his *****.
His last movie on healthcare bombed. - Darksoul, on 09/05/2008, -10/+16This guy is a hack I cannot for any reason understand why anybody likes him he does nothing for anybody he makes these movies to make millions for himself and no I am no dam NEOCON I just think hes a moron.
- opticwind, on 09/05/2008, -2/+8People hate him for using half-truths and misleading video footage. Come on, we don't need to tune into O'Reilly, and Moore's just the polar opposite.
- AlexanderZero, on 09/05/2008, -1/+7If you don't know why so many people are against Michael Moore you should see a counter-documentary called "Michael Moore Hates America." It's not about his political views, but about his dishonest film/journalism techniques and other outright lies that he tells in his movies. His movies can make you think, but they probably shouldn't be referenced as fact.
- jayobear, on 09/05/2008, -2/+8I think you're an idiot. That's all.
- Cooter007, on 09/05/2008, -2/+8He would have to offer it for free. What dumbass would pay to see one of his movies.
- zip000, on 09/05/2008, -0/+5Though I've pretty much always agreed with the points that Moore has been making in his films, I've often been uncomfortable with his tactics. I wouldn't go so far as calling him sleazy...but maybe dirty.
- Nyfeh, on 09/05/2008, -2/+7Its not like he won't release it on DVD later as a big special edition...
- kinseyincanada, on 09/05/2008, -4/+8good for him, and people please get out and vote in November.
- GMMStraider, on 09/05/2008, -1/+5the La-li-lu-le-lo... ehh.. The Patriots?
- Stonekeeper, on 09/05/2008, -1/+5States and Canada only? Bah!
- Iztikeit, on 09/05/2008, -8/+12Michael Moore is lousy. The guy has no idea what is best for anyone, especially an entire country.
- halfabean, on 09/05/2008, -1/+4god forbid they're not attractive. free speech only applies to the good looking talking heads.
- zosoIV, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3I thought his free online movie was "Sicko"
Oh...wait. - bryanwebster, on 09/05/2008, -3/+6looks *****, is he doing this because he knows nobody will pay to see it?
- KingWilson, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3WRONG....look at your own link idiot...he wasn't attacking Moores ideas...he was pointing out the oore is not a very pretty human being
- ator1, on 09/05/2008, -1/+4According to the site, you can buy it on dvd for $10.
- Iztikeit, on 09/05/2008, -3/+6Just because he says he will not profit does not mean that is the case.
- BobcatShooter, on 09/05/2008, -3/+6Won't see it. Wouldn't pay to see it if I did.
- rockrapdude, on 09/05/2008, -2/+4"Who would Jesus bomb?" Best quote from the trailer.
- badfishmedia, on 09/05/2008, -1/+3That is because it is not good enough to charge for. Although the sheeple liberals will all go and say how good it is no matter what.
- Annoula88, on 09/05/2008, -11/+13this is not about how moore looks... whats wrong with you guys!? it´s about him making a statement and i think it´s really important that there are at least a few people left on this planet who dare to say things like him...!
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -21/+23***** moore haters. certainly better than bombing iraq and slaughtering civilians while you destroy the justice system and democracy with gtmo.
- mythicflux, on 09/05/2008, -0/+2Moore had me up until Bowling for Columbine. I'm not saying there weren't some worth while points in that production but after investigating his claims and specific items in that movie it became clear that the man was spinning a fair amount of yarn to meet his agendas. That and his need to ambush both Charlton Heston and Dick Clark and try to paint them as evil was so utterly disrespectful and disgusting. Especially Heston, regardless of what you may think of the mans politics you don't broadside someone in an interview when they had the decency to invite you into their home to seriously discuss the issue with you as a mature and rational human being.
I miss the old Michael Moore who wasn't so bat ***** self righteous that couldn't simply make a humorous satirical statement about an issue and leave it at that. - rhinofinger, on 09/05/2008, -0/+2I'd check it out but I'm too lazy
- opticwind, on 09/05/2008, -0/+2Yes, I'm sure you've never called Bush a monkey, or big eared, or short, or ugly, or old. Or called Cheney evil.
- VigRoco, on 09/05/2008, -3/+5No one care anymore about what he has to say
- Sahdow, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1obama's no better. it ***** sucks that the only two choices are obama or mccain. neither one of them is the lesser of two evils. sure, obama's not a neocon, but look at how he plans on increasing welfare spending! more of our money being taken from us at gunpoint.
- Mexrocker, on 09/05/2008, -1/+2You might want to double check your facts next time:
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=main&id= ... - dsmx, on 09/05/2008, -3/+4Michael believes he knows what is best for his country in the same way that politicians believe they know what right for this country. Just because someone's opinion on what is right for this country may be different to yours doesn't make it wrong.
- dsmx, on 09/05/2008, -2/+3I think Michael Moore is fine so long as you watch his films objectively. His films do tend to raise some interesting questions which is the point of them.
- Cideu, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1His films are entertaining.
- warplayer, on 09/06/2008, -0/+1Apparently we have a self-loathing, ex-Canuck here. Funny stuff.
- noclss2000, on 09/06/2008, -0/+1guess he realized nobody was actually paying to see his crap, now he's trying to give it away and I still don't want to see it.
- opticwind, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1"*farts playing the 'dueling banjo' song*"
- travis1982, on 09/05/2008, -1/+2You look ***** retarded saying that with that username...you really do.
- H4adF1sh, on 09/07/2008, -0/+1Yes, this is an honorable move. He's doing something good - trying to point out some of the many, many flaws in our political system - and he's spending 1 million dollars out of his pocket for it. With no expected profit.
That deserves our respect. - gginx, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1I'd pay twice that to see it
- Gneekman, on 09/19/2008, -0/+1Just saw a lecture from Michael and the premiere of Slacker Uprising here in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Definitely worth more than the low, low price of free.
