- RafishAsh, on 06/19/2009, -25/+404I feel for the guy, critics are just out of touch with what people want in movies. Critics should only judge a movie based on how much money it took to make it, the number of explosions it has, and how many slow motion shots of hot girls and/or ***** blowing up it contains. A proper plot without a million plot holes, characters you give a damn about and movies that aren't pieces of absolute ***** are really just cliches and I commend Michael Bay for making sure his movies stay as far as ***** possible from those things.
- Ligeti, on 06/19/2009, -0/+318I can wait for the inevitable documentary "Boom: A history of the explosion."
- hsiangjohn, on 06/19/2009, -12/+273i got excited because my mind and eyes skipped over the word "action".
- MaxxBero, on 06/19/2009, -0/+196yeah Michael Bay already said that this article is fake, that he's not retiring from action movies. Buried.
- Ninh, on 06/19/2009, -0/+166He's going into the demolition business full-time?
- bromac, on 06/19/2009, -1/+148He'll go out with a bang...
and another....then one more... - gcnaddict, on 06/19/2009, -23/+138I know you're being sarcastic, but I fully and non-sarcastically agree.
I watch Michael Bay films to get away from things like plot and story. Sometimes, I just want to see a film with ***** blowing up. - Hetman, on 06/19/2009, -3/+103I thought this was an onion article. Anyways why do you care Bay. If someone was paying me millions of dollars for CGI explosions I would make as many movies as possible.
- surfacewound, on 06/19/2009, -4/+88He better get Megan Fox to be in it.
- meruru, on 06/19/2009, -0/+83I was thinking a romantic comedy about an FBI explosives expert that falls in love with a terrorist bomber.
- finaldarkone, on 06/19/2009, -3/+76Maybe he'll go back to directing soft-core porn again.
- YokohamaGaijin, on 06/19/2009, -7/+75His movies aren't that bad if you're an ADD crack addict that forgot to take your Ritalin after smoking a rock the size of your head. I'm so tired of herky jerky camera work that Bay has made en vogue.
- tehjabba, on 06/19/2009, -3/+68Wouldn't hard-core be more his thing? Explosive money shots with slow-mo splatter.
- ELCad, on 06/19/2009, -6/+64Damn, I knew there wasn't a God.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 06/19/2009, -3/+56Is it April 1 already?
- rodon, on 06/19/2009, -3/+51Michael Bay never actually directed a movie. He just moved from directing commercials to directing feature-length commercials.
- Scrappy1850, on 06/19/2009, -2/+48pearl harbour would have been better WITHOUT a plot
- ksalminen, on 06/19/2009, -0/+45I can see it now, Romance movies with explosions.
- truebullfan, on 06/19/2009, -9/+49Not a huge fan of Michael Bay but people are way to critical of this guy. He has made some pretty awful films but "The Rock" kicked ass. And Transformers was a fun action movie. He's a decent director. Not sure why people criticize him so much since there a bunch of other directors that suck balls.
- orangefly, on 06/19/2009, -0/+38he and john woo could calaborate....he would have a bicycle hitting a mailbox create a mushroom cloud....
- Coffeedemon, on 06/19/2009, -0/+33...of doves (in slow motion).
- snagglefoof, on 06/19/2009, -0/+31He never said he was quitting action movies, just that he was fed up with blockbusters and wouldn't be doing any more Transformers.
That is not the same thing as saying "I'm quitting action movies." - camaroz06, on 06/19/2009, -1/+24You guys remember that short lived reality competition that pitted movie makers on the show? M Bay was one of the judges on the show that day and he was a DICK. D I C K. Did I mention he was a dick when it was his turn to judge?
Anyways good to know he cannot take any of the criticism. - ThreeDee912, on 06/19/2009, -1/+24Other than being a media format to store videos (such as movies) on, what does that have to do with Michael Bay?
- IKORKYI, on 06/19/2009, -0/+22i find listening to all my critics and naysayers is the best way to go about life
- WatIsNotTaknYet, on 06/20/2009, -1/+22I for one hate moneyshots. I don't know what the fascination of seeing some other dude's jizz is. I personally don't even like seeing the guy's dick so many times in porn. Let's keep some shots at a distance please. I don't want to be dick-whelmed.
- Chris1280, on 06/19/2009, -0/+21MIcheal bays shawshank redemption.
He escapes on a motorcycle through a ring of fire with explosions behind him. - iskin, on 06/19/2009, -4/+23It's because he's successful, and it's called envy.
- Smalldude76, on 06/19/2009, -0/+18That would probably be pretty entertaining to watch. Demolition sites need a little creativity - like what if a HUGE helicopter dropped three hundred EXPLODING SHARKS onto the building?
Michael Bay for demolition. - copypastry, on 06/19/2009, -2/+19>Explosion joke
- dafragsta, on 06/19/2009, -0/+17while no other audio is heard but the strains of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"
- anotherjack, on 06/19/2009, -0/+16No, man. Your talent is in your choices. He knows that the writing is consistently bad, and makes no effort to get better writers. Hence, he is a bad director. He should be a cinematographer or choreagrapher if those are his talents. A director is supposed to pull the whole thing together into a comprehensive blend of elements. Bay does not do this - he just hires more special effects guys. Special effects are great, they are not a substitute for plot or directing.
- edwartica, on 06/19/2009, -13/+29Wow, I was just about to digg you down before I realized you were being sarcastic.
- anotherjack, on 06/19/2009, -3/+18Some people like dumb movies. I don't judge them. I just...wish they weren't the ones directing our film culture right now.
- Betrayal, on 06/19/2009, -2/+17Are you that fella who tried to give a yellow pale rose to Megan Fox?
- jakeneff, on 06/19/2009, -0/+15The first thing I thought when I saw the headline was: "Is this from the Onion?"
- CrazedLeper, on 06/19/2009, -2/+16Harsh.
- DouglasQ, on 06/19/2009, -3/+16Disdain for critics? Anchorman screen-name? Family Guy display pic?
Your opinions have no worth, please stop having them. - amoirae, on 06/19/2009, -3/+16"To dream the impossible dream..."
- charsdar, on 06/19/2009, -2/+15All my prayers have been answered.
Thank you Zarathustra. - michaelje0, on 06/19/2009, -3/+16These comments are not satisfactory or up to expectations.
- zynaps, on 06/19/2009, -3/+15He's not a bad director, he's actually really good at doing awesome action scenes, good at camera work, good at angles. The problem is that the movies he makes have less than good scripts and often bad dialogue and bad actors.
A lot of blame should fall on the writers for the movie to be honest.
I still think The Island is an awesome movie. - DMoney16, on 06/19/2009, -0/+11Michael Bay: "An 18 wheeler spins out of control and its all like BRAAAAGHHH and this huge tanker full of diamonds goes BLAAAAARRGHH!!"
General: "Those aren't ideas those are special effects!"
Michael Bay: "I don't understand the difference"
General: "I know you don't" - seanoneil14, on 06/19/2009, -2/+13slow-mo money shots make me happy
- imkidred, on 06/19/2009, -0/+10If he only read the reviews. It's not his direction or visual style, it's the stupid-assed scripts!!! If he teamed with a real writer who wrote real characters in a quality plot, his action movies would kick ass. Problem is, his movies are eye candy and nothing more. Take ALL the crap one-liners away from John Toturro(?) and the movie is completely different.
- tmyprod, on 06/19/2009, -1/+11I'm calling shenanigans.
- dalittle, on 06/19/2009, -1/+11and the escape from the prison would be by making pencil shavings into a huge bomb that blows half the building apart.
- dalittle, on 06/19/2009, -5/+15Some how Bay is trying to make it out like he is a victim. I have seen one of his movies and I can tell you I feel victimized so I have no idea what he is talking about. Michael Bay makes terrible movies.
- votic, on 06/19/2009, -0/+10i thought this was an onion...
- slymi2005, on 06/20/2009, -0/+9Yeah, he directed this back in 1990: Playboy Video Centerfold: Kerri Kendall http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0471307/ http://www.amazon.com/Playboy-Video-Centerfold-Ker ...
