- Homest4r, on 01/23/2008, -0/+31Personally, No Country for Old Men was my favorite movie of 2007
Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem) is the scariest ***** villain in a movie since Hannibal Lecter. He'll get an Oscar for it.
"Call it, Friendo." - PocketWatch, on 01/23/2008, -0/+23There's gonna be Oscars this year?
- cnot3, on 01/23/2008, -2/+17If No Country for Old Men doesn't win then the oscars have once again been rigged by Mr. Burns.
- ChiKoo, on 01/23/2008, -0/+13I just don't understand why Juno's been nominated. It was a good movie, but when I look at what other movies were nominated, I just don't see how Juno's in the same category with them.
Don't get me wrong, it was a good movie, just not an award-winning one. It's not that kind of movie. - jfujita, on 01/23/2008, -0/+13Glad Paul Thomas Anderson got the nod for director. There Will Be Blood was a masterpiece.
- virtualball, on 01/23/2008, -2/+13To be honest, Juno was actually a good movie. Not only was it written well and made you feel attached to the characters (like the creepy dance scene) but it talked about the issue of teenage pregnancy.
It shouldn't win, but it was a good enough movie to be nominated. - cptshamrock, on 01/23/2008, -5/+15Where's The Simpsons Movie for best animated?
- QueEsAmor, on 01/23/2008, -1/+113:10 to Yuma deserves much more than a "Sound Mixing" nomination.
- nospinhere, on 01/23/2008, -0/+10I LIKE POSTING AND ANSWERING MY OWN QUESTIONS!
btw, Transformers 2 hasn't been made yet. - ismirk, on 01/23/2008, -0/+9Not a bad bunch for this years Oscars
And Javier Bardem is the creepiest murderer on film, without a doubt; He definitely deserves it. - TheWestExit, on 01/23/2008, -0/+9That's the one thing that will always confuse me about the Oscars. Why don't the fill out the Best Animated category with the full 5 nominees? It's not like there's a lack of things to nominate, hell, Tekkon Kinkreet is loads better than the crap that was Surf's Up. Tekkon Kinkreet's right up there with Ratatouille, which we all know is going to win.
- sleeknerve, on 01/23/2008, -1/+10no, that was not the only thing good about No Country for Old Men
- nreynolds, on 01/23/2008, -1/+10Juno was amazing, you're a moron. How come there aren't 2 separate categories for best picture (drama) and best picture (comedy) like in the other (equally stupid) awards shows.
- sleeknerve, on 01/23/2008, -2/+10no its not, from the title its quite obvious. By the time you grow old, there is no country for you. everything that you knew is gone. The Tommy Lee Jones character is actually the main example of this even though he doesn't really play the major role in the movie
- littlewing82, on 01/23/2008, -0/+8I second that!
Man, I think Christian Bale is cursed..... he is always snubbed.
At least he and the rest of the cast for 3:10 Yuma are up for a SAG award. - TheWestExit, on 01/23/2008, -0/+7Glad to see that Once got a nod for "Falling Slowly" in the song category.
- virtualball, on 01/23/2008, -0/+7I'm sorry, but "Midget Slut Patrol" can't be nominated. :)
- slightlygifted, on 01/23/2008, -4/+10im guessing all the juno bashers either never saw it or are trying to act tough and say it sucked. i walked in unwillingly with a friend (she was paying and i was bored) and was pretty impressed by the film. it was hilarious in lots of parts and the ending was the best you could of hoped for. the thing about it was that the whole time the pregnant girl said the funniest things and acted totally serious while saying them.
- pikpikcarrotmon, on 01/23/2008, -0/+6You seriously consider X-Men to be the same, uh, (caliber?) as Lord of the Rings or Titanic? I mean, sure, it was extremely entertaining, but if that were the only qualification, we'd see a whole lot of ***** kung fu and B- horror movies every year.
- sopadeelle, on 01/23/2008, -0/+6Norbit got nominated for an Oscar in the best makeup category?
wtf...i'm so confused - cnot3, on 01/23/2008, -1/+7http://imdb.com/features/rto/2008/oscars
In case you hate USA Today as much as I do. - Chongo, on 01/23/2008, -0/+6weird, I agree that the last several years were sub-par. But thats judging it against itself... its never been "Man, this just plain old sucks" level.
With that in mind, I thought the movie was pretty funny actually. I'm glad I went into it with low expectations because I laughed throughout the whole thing. - CapeKid, on 01/23/2008, -2/+8Everyone knows that No Country For Old Men is winning.
- minoss, on 01/23/2008, -2/+7Wonder who's doing the writing for the Oscar's.
- SoldOutMatinee, on 01/23/2008, -1/+6it was actually written by a former stripper.
- aceakm, on 01/23/2008, -3/+8WHERE THE ***** IS ZODIAC?!?!
- technoticau, on 01/23/2008, -0/+5I thought Brolin was outstanding, I guess he has to pay his dues on the big screen first for a nomination. If he can keep getting the roles for it I'm sure he'll get an oscar in the future.
- rheaume, on 01/23/2008, -0/+5Behind you
- DonJohnTom, on 01/23/2008, -5/+10juno was an awesome movie, i hope it picks up an oscar
- Lasereth, on 01/23/2008, -0/+4No Country For Old Men please win best picture. Amazing movie. Josh Brolin/Javier Bardem/Tommy Lee Jones + Coen Brothers made a movie that is crafted with such raw suspense that every single line of dialogue is intriguing.
- Tikisam, on 01/23/2008, -0/+4Get over yourself.
- sleeknerve, on 01/23/2008, -0/+4your comment doesn't rate on my "best of 2008" list
- csw3190, on 01/23/2008, -3/+7I'm surprised American Gangseter is only up for one Oscar (best supporting actress) and Juno is up for four...that seems a bit lobsided.
- billymonster, on 01/23/2008, -3/+7awesome compared to what?
it was awesome compared to good luck chuck, or whatever, but it does not deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as no country, blood, atonement, or the diving bell and the butterfly. - inactive, on 01/23/2008, -4/+8Where is Michael Cera?
GO ELLEN PAGE - inactive, on 01/23/2008, -0/+4where is "Into the Wild"?
- scrumpy, on 01/23/2008, -2/+6Heath Ledger jokes can wait.
Have some respect. I saw the last thread. - ncraig, on 01/23/2008, -0/+3Norbit is now an Oscar nominated film.
*see makeup category - stackolee, on 01/23/2008, -0/+3But Josh Brolin got SCREWED. HE definitely deserved the nod
- rpatel11, on 01/23/2008, -0/+3Hopefully Javier Bardem wins best supporting actor. He was amazing in No Country
- Ebeniz, on 01/23/2008, -1/+4zodiac? really? you are serious?
- virtualball, on 01/23/2008, -1/+4Wow! Like I didn't read your opinion in your other four comments.... It's my opinion, and I believe it should've been.
- rpatel11, on 01/23/2008, -6/+9American Gangster wasn't all that great
- frmrchrstn, on 01/23/2008, -0/+2*****
- xlent, on 01/23/2008, -4/+6there will be blood imo was better then no country for old men and juno. I don't understand why no country for old men is getting so much attention and honestly, i dont think juno should even be considered. it was a good movie for what it was .. but it wasnt much really.
- Epik, on 01/23/2008, -0/+2That was a good movie. After I'd watched it, I had a serious urge to just take a trip like that myself but I probably would have gotten to the gas station on the corner, bought some Monster and Flaming hot cheetos, and then just walk back home.
- Mikey9oo, on 01/23/2008, -1/+3Wow, your best of 2007 list must suck.
- Epik, on 01/23/2008, -3/+5Describe "that kind of movie". ***** old hollywood. Oscars is so overrated and is *****. Just a biased popularity contest. Juno probably won't win and I'm even surprised it's nominated but it's a "better" movie than the rest to most people who just enjoy movies. You know, the ones who don't think of themselves as some undiscovered uber film critic.
- Mikey9oo, on 01/23/2008, -3/+5You obviously have not seen Marion Cotillard in La Vie En Rose.
- frmrchrstn, on 01/23/2008, -0/+2Winning over "There Will Be Blood"?? I don't think so. I liked "No Country" a lot, but "Blood" was an out of the park home run.
