- sockpuppets, on 08/20/2008, -0/+34He's like a super nerd, made from parts of lesser nerds.
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -0/+30Dear Mr. Chee, who shot first?
- w00kie, on 08/19/2008, -0/+30it's explained in the last page of the article, Lucas can retcon anything he wants and overrides the guy
- Divals, on 08/19/2008, -3/+31If they have this guy making sure nothing gets retconned or contradicted... why did the prequel movies (and the new Clone Wars movie) contradict and retcon so much established canon? Gahhh.
- Divals, on 08/19/2008, -1/+27Yet another reason Lucas should stop messing with Star Wars and leave it to the people who care about ALL the continuity, not just the parts they created themselves...
- spmyke, on 08/20/2008, -4/+26I love Star Wars, but I hate George Lucas.
- Firespray1138, on 08/20/2008, -0/+21Cause a 10 story tall mechanized walker with 4 guns on it's head coming towards you makes you ***** in your pants.
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -0/+17Joan Rivers jokes? Why don't you just bust out the Michael Dukakis ones while you're at it.
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -1/+18Maybe her foster parents just said that she died when she was very young? It aint too big of a gaffe.
- c4sh, on 08/20/2008, -6/+22Most annoying continuity error in Star Wars:
Leia: *Speaking about her mother, who died giving birth to her* "She died when I was very young."
I.E. minutes old
...left me wondering if they'd even watched the original trilogy. - norman619, on 08/20/2008, -0/+16If you watch the extras with the artists it's funny when they say Lucas selected alien designs they felt were bad but he ignored their input and went with the cartoonish aliens. Lucas should just fund the projects, hire the talent, and then get the hell out of their way.
- tatltat, on 08/20/2008, -0/+14All continuity ended as soon as the word midi-chlorians was uttered.
- terracottapai, on 08/20/2008, -0/+14Yeah that's the kind of thing that could drive a man to complete, babbling insanity.
- belgar, on 08/20/2008, -0/+13Exactly. If you've followed the other parts of the universe at all (particularly the books), the sheer effort made to maintain continuity has been, to be honest, fabulous. The books ALL work within the same universe as the first three movies, and with each other.
But when you have a humungous ***** like Lucas who takes ALL of that work done by MORE than just one person, lays it on his desk, jerks off over it and calls it a script -- well, don't blame the guy whose original pages are covered in spunk. - Koushiro, on 08/20/2008, -1/+13Because no one can protect Star Wars form George Lucas.
- Dumbledorito, on 08/20/2008, -0/+11Mandalorians. What ever happened to them?
And looking at the thumbnail, when did Star Trek: Voyager's "Ensign Kim" become a Jedi? Admittedly, that DOES sound like Star Wars continuity to me, but... - Divals, on 08/20/2008, -1/+12I thought it was talking about her foster mother, Bail Organa's wife. I mean, for most of her life she thought she was their biological child.
- totorototoro, on 08/20/2008, -0/+11So if you want to hide Luke from his father, how about changing his last name?
- Thumper13, on 08/20/2008, -1/+11How easy is this answer?
It's a force memory thing...she remembers "Just...images, really. Feelings."..."She was very beautiful. Kind, but...sad."
Not at all hard to understand.
You do remember this is fairy tale *****, not real, explainable science fact?
Always worked for me. - RansomHoldiay, on 08/20/2008, -3/+13well mr chee answer me this. if in episode one, a stupid little kid could build a pod racer, how come the empire with all of its resources, made the AT-AT.... i mean honestly. that thing was so slow and awkward.
- choopie911, on 08/20/2008, -0/+8I didn't realize until reading this that the character in the game is named "Starkiller." In the original Star Wars, it was supposed to be 'Luke Starkiller' but they decided they needed a different last name, which was changed during revisions to the fourth draft of Star Wars.
Kind of cool to see them re-using that name. - Shogi, on 08/19/2008, -5/+12Good god, that sounds like the second most incredibly tedious job ever, after Joan River's plastic surgeon.
- wild, on 08/20/2008, -0/+7Potatoe.
- scooterfish, on 08/20/2008, -0/+7Oh man, I remember reading "Heir to the Empire". I had the Darth Vader head storage case, almost the entire case of characters, Walker, Falcon, X-Wing, Speeder...
Thank goodness I outgrew my obsessiveness and just became an adoring fan as an adult. - inactive, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5Of course he CAN, he just shouldnt.
- Frozo, on 08/20/2008, -0/+4Where's the beef?
- supremebeing18, on 08/20/2008, -0/+4Damn good point, I can't believe I was retarded enough to never not think of that.
/not sarcasm - cheez124, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3im a huge starwars fan (go ahead try to stump me) and i hated most of the prequels due to hyden Christensen or whatever his terrible acting-ass name is. he even managed to run darth vader at the end (bitching about padme) and i refuse to pay to see this new CGI travesty. i love lucas franchises but these days he needs to be kept away from them.
- StanleyKoolPrik, on 08/20/2008, -1/+4Star Wars is dead. Long live Star Wars.
- tomzer1, on 08/20/2008, -2/+5Epic total fail if he worked on the the last three movies. But I suppose Lucas didn't let him hang around the typewriter, either.
- norman619, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3The guy should be fired or have quit when Lucas did not let him do his job. I sure as hell would have.
- choobah, on 08/20/2008, -1/+4Yeah, continuity seems to be good. Why don't they fire this guy and hire someone to make sure Star Wars movies don't suck ass.
- mellowmonk, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3How about someone to police George Lucas?
- vinceislegend, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3I guess making sure the continuity isn't ***** on isn't part of his job description.
- Cloned, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3And as for Mandalorians, they completely bastardized Boba Fett. He used to have such an amazing mysterious background that was sort of explained in books and comics. Boba Fett is my favorite part of Star Wars (that's where my screen name comes from), but it's also the most confusing in terms of continuity.
- FishRHuman2, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3Yeah, it needs a bit of an incubation, some changing hands...then I want it to burst out of the gate and kick our asses with awesomeness.
- antdude, on 08/20/2008, -1/+4Um, without GL, there would be no SW! So do we love him for the original trilogy only?
- Firespray1138, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3They didn't finish paying it off.
- cheez124, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3excuse starwars trolling, but no one knew who the hell luke was untill ben kenobi found him, and scared away the tusken raiders.
- inefekt, on 08/20/2008, -1/+4Exactly!
***** nerds need to get some perspective. - dslartoo, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2I'm glad they admit that Lucas contradicts himself all the time. There are a ton of continuity / retcon problems in the movies alone.
- sauron256, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2I've read Splinter of the Mind's Eye, and Luke and Leia do not get very affectionate at all.
I recall being quite disappointed by that... - cadmiumpaint, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2just saw this article in my printed version of wired. pretty cool stuff.
can't wait for Wii star wars lightsabre games... - seanof, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2Here's a little comic about that.
http://www.irregularwebcomic.net/352.html - 1badarsemuther, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2Is that both the best and worst job to have?
- britoca, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2I guess he was on vacation when they thought up SWG
- norman619, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2Fish:
Exactly. It needs to be put to rest for a while. It's become stale and only some down time will allow new blood to enter the market and breath new life into it. Plus Lucas would be tool old by that time to get involved and ruin it like he has this time around. - Slayerdude51982, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2I agree with the force memory thing or did anyone even think of the possibility she may of been talking about Bail Organa's wife? Other the possibility of being alive to be blown up on Alderan we don't know if she was alive in the OT
- NeoCortex, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2OK, then explain why nobody thought to put a vent cover on the Death Star.
- solstice21, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2Han shot first
