http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/max_payne/ - itstomcat, on 10/20/2008, -1/+50Say hi to your mother for me, all right?
- iheartcrack, on 10/20/2008, -2/+26Hey Max Payne, how's it going? You made $18 million this weekend. I produce "Entourage." Say hi to your mother for me, ok?
- sjbdallas, on 10/19/2008, -1/+23Sorry, but I have a feeling that everyone that was going to see it saw it this weekend. It sucked and word of mouth will drop it to #8 at best next week.
- protogenxl, on 10/20/2008, -2/+18What hack writer came up with all the angel crap?
- threedaysatsea, on 10/20/2008, -0/+15http://www.rottentomatoes.com/author/author-5761/
This is one of the people who rated it "Fresh". - Lockhart, on 10/20/2008, -1/+13What the *****, 17% for Max Payne compared to Beverly Hills Chihuahua? You gotta be *****' joking.
- DaveXensen, on 10/20/2008, -0/+12As soon as I heard Chief Jim Bravura would be played by Ludacris, i knew this movie was headed down the *****. The character looks like Wilford Brimley in the game for ***** sake!
- MasterGrief, on 10/20/2008, -1/+13Mark Wahlberg didn't even take the time to play Max Payne 1 or 2 to understand his role.
- ousthouse, on 10/20/2008, -3/+14Just because it has a low RT score doesn't mean it's bad.... but they're dead on here. It suuuucked.
- dalittle, on 10/20/2008, -0/+10Maybe they should have just made 2 hours of game play the movie.
- billbugger, on 10/20/2008, -1/+11The 17% is the critic rating. The RT community rating (registered users) give it a 57%.
- inactive, on 10/20/2008, -1/+11She also enjoyed "The Happening" 'nuff said.
- AtraNoxVII, on 10/20/2008, -0/+9Look it could be worse. At least Uwe Boll didn't direct it.
- EGOvoruhk, on 10/20/2008, -0/+8You didn't think it was good? I thought it was hilarious... was it not supposed to be?
- johnomaz, on 10/20/2008, -0/+8They should have used the nude patch on all the female actresses.
- MasterGrief, on 10/20/2008, -1/+7They managed to kill another fantastic video game in the cinema. At least this one looks nice.
- Neolite, on 10/20/2008, -5/+11wtf Yahoo still exists? Who the ***** uses this?
- bachrock, on 10/20/2008, -0/+6...and Beverly Hills Chihuahua.
There should be a way to disable critics like these. - Lockhart, on 10/20/2008, -0/+6Yeah, I thought they overdid that part. It kinda cool to start with. Also unexpected, was a bit confused at the start, but then I understood it was part of the effects of being under the influence of the drug. My friend watched the trailer though and he misunderstood the movie to be some sort of action/fantasy movie because of the angels and demons.
- lamiaconfitor, on 10/20/2008, -0/+6since he did your mom, douchebag.
- Skab, on 10/20/2008, -0/+6one thing JIM BRAVERUA is LUDACRIS=wiskey tango ***** christ?!!
- knyghtryda, on 10/20/2008, -0/+6Those producers in Hollywood are smart... not because they know how to make good movies (they don't) but because they know how to make crappy movies that people think are great. Max Payne is just one movie in a long list that really belong in the crap bin, but every teenager/immature adult will go see.
As someone who's played both of the Max Payne games, the casting is a mixed bag (Mark Walberg... decent. Mila Kunis... very very VERY bad.). Whoever decided Mona Sax was to be played by someone out of that 70's show really was smoking something... I can see not being able to afford someone like Angelina Jolie... but there's a long list of kickass female actresses to play Mona (Kate Benkinsale, Mila Jovovich, etc). - Radan, on 10/20/2008, -5/+10I haven't seen the Max Payne movie yet, but Rotten Tomatoes got to have the most narrow minded and unreliable reviewers on the Internet.
If it isn't the Godfather, it's crap -- The motto of Rotten Tomatoes. - fszymanski, on 10/20/2008, -1/+6Overall it wasnt that great of a movie, it started out slow. There were a few cool scenes but those where they same scenes they showed in the commericals. I would wait till it comes out on dvd to see it.
- Cozmcphish, on 10/20/2008, -1/+6she already looks pretty disabled to me
- necromancer, on 10/20/2008, -0/+557% feels more accurate. I saw it, it wasnt good, but not as bad as 17%.
- omgwtflawl, on 10/20/2008, -0/+4This is *****! 700 million box office!
- SocialPoison, on 10/20/2008, -1/+5Bingo. I was really disappointed by this flick. If you want a dark brooding anti-hero who shoots the crap out of a bunch of people, your time would be better spent watching The Punisher (which is really saying something...)
- hypografik, on 10/20/2008, -0/+4Horrible movie :( 15 sec of bullet-time effects. Are you kidding me? And no painkillers to survive the shotgun bullets?
- steelclash84, on 10/20/2008, -1/+5RT has Beverly Hills Chihuahua rated higher...
- ChromaVita, on 10/20/2008, -2/+6Damn it! I was hoping Beverly Hills Chihuahua would maintain it's lead for the 3rd strait week!
- inactive, on 10/20/2008, -0/+4zing!
- liquisoft, on 10/20/2008, -1/+5Will they make a video game adaptation of this movie adaptation of the video game?
- inactive, on 10/20/2008, -1/+5Going from an awesome role in "The Departed" to "Max Payne"? I mean, come on Marky Mark...
- dalittle, on 10/20/2008, -1/+5ouch. I even wanted to like the Punisher for most of the movie.
- Lockhart, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3Ludacris was alright IMO. I seriously thought the actors who played Mona and BB didn't really fit their characters. Lupino (Sucre!) was pretty badass though.
- popflop, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3Never heard of netflix? Or even blockbuster?
- Kordras, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3God damn it, they're never going to make a good video game movie, are they?
- tombomb, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3Yes because there currently exists no businesses that rent DVDs for low prices.
- Kromel, on 10/20/2008, -1/+4*shivers* I hope not!
- AndrewDB, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3Oh trust me ousthouse... it's ***** horrible.
- will2000, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3dude, yahoo is still the most visited site in the world...somehow.
- inactive, on 10/20/2008, -2/+5This movie was good, not great. I loved the video games, and loved the slow-mo backwards shotgun scene.
- McDeath, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2Hitman was better!
And I feel dirty for saying that. - m1zl3d, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2Okay, if you actually watched the movie or played the game you would understand. They are not "angels". They are valkyries. The people who are addicted to the drug Valkyr see the Valkyries...hence the drugs name.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valkyrie
I have to agree though...the movie was somewhat of a let down after playing through the game. - coustoe, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2Saw this on Saturday night, This has to be one of the worst movies I have seen. It slow through out the movie and with flash scenes of black angels flying around, symbolizing some stupid metaphor that gets annoying after the hundreth time. The plot is disorganized and dialogue is horrible and everything is a cliche. Don't waste your time on this, watching a boring pointless episode of Simpsons is more entertaining. at least with the Simpsons you pain only last 20 mins with this its over an hour.
- kristensoff, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2i like the concept of the game, but i think the movie is the waste of time
- Yambag, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2Coustoe is right. Bad movie. It made me want to cry because I loved the games so much. The sad part is that it could have easily been a great movie... especially if it had be rated R instead of PG 13. Hell the game is pretty R rated. I should have walked out halfway during the movie but I didn't want to give up hope that this could be a good flick. *sigh*
- tbredofsin, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2@RobotLeAwesome: Very true. RT is sometimes wrong about a movie being good, but they're usually dead-on when it comes to pegging a dud.
