- casbboy, on 09/24/2008, -2/+40I am absolutely geeked on this movie. Video game adaptations typically do very well, right? Well, no, they don't, but maybe this can be the first of them. The thing I don't get is whether the valkries are hallucinations by Payne or real entities of the "devil's" army. Having played the game, I don't remember being that Constantine.
- blakeharrison, on 09/24/2008, -1/+33One of my favorite games, I love the line
"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat, pissing him off was the smart thing to do" - Zaggy111, on 09/24/2008, -1/+21Mila Kunis is hot...
- ivencente, on 09/24/2008, -0/+13i can't wait. i'm going to play a quick round right now.
- Turkman182, on 09/24/2008, -0/+13I'll be optimistic about this movie. Not too many video game movies seem to deliver the goods. But, not too many have actors like Wahlberg associated with them. Here's hoping.
- njs1970, on 09/24/2008, -0/+12I have high hopes for this ... fingers crossed!
- inactive, on 09/24/2008, -0/+12The Valkyrie thing is what has me concerned. In the game V was just a drug, not some gateway to viking angels. Also, there was no mention of the junkies having viking tattoos or anything even suggesting they shared a similar trip. All that happened was people flipped their *****, got paranoid, and sometimes OD'd.
When Max is injected with V he just keeps reliving the moment when his kid and wife died, he certainly doesn't fight valkyie. - cesclaveria, on 09/24/2008, -0/+11I wonder if there is going to be a video game tie-in? I hope not, I have been waiting too long for Max Payne 3 for it to be "Max Payne: The Movie: The Game"
- inactive, on 09/24/2008, -1/+9From what I have seen in the trailers and this featurette, this movie looks like it should be tops at the box office on the weekend of Oct 17th. I cannot see The Secret Life of Bees, Sex Drive, or W. beating it.
- JohnKappa, on 10/25/2008, -1/+9For it's time this game is awesome. So well done, bullet time, great story line, brilliant art direction. It was Sin City'esk with a moody darkness that got the adrenaline pumping.
I'll never forger the moment in the the game where I'd been drugged and was trying to find my way through some house or something, with the sounds of my murdered baby crying in the background. Freaked me the ***** out.
This trailer looks soft and no where near as dark as the game. True Max Payne fans will think it's missed the mark. that doesn't mean it'll bomb, as 99% box office goers won't know how good the game actually was.
Here's a clip that I think sums up the game very well.

Cheers - tbredofsin, on 09/24/2008, -0/+8The sequel was even better than the original.
- infinityredux, on 09/25/2008, -0/+8yes but in slow motion so it will stretch out to 2 hours
- Darkyuubi, on 09/25/2008, -1/+9Oh dear god please don't let this one suck. I for one will see it in theaters...
- breakaway, on 09/25/2008, -0/+7Can someone please explain to me why there are mythical creatures in the Max Payne movie trailer? There was no such thing in the game at all.
- CarnivalOfDust, on 09/24/2008, -0/+6No woop for you.
- Caleb83, on 09/24/2008, -1/+7I agree (although I wasn't that bitter about Bale). Maybe it's because I spent so many hours on the game, but Wahlberg's voice just doesn't do the trick. Sure he has the look down, but it's hard for me to enjoy the voice overs here when I heard someone else do the same lines better. And it's not that the other guy is better, it's just that his voice suits the character.
- inactive, on 09/24/2008, -3/+9If it's anything like the original game, it'll last 15 minutes.
- daveyWSS, on 09/24/2008, -2/+8At first when I heard Marky Mark was playing Max Payne I had very low expectations of it.
Now I think it looks pretty badass!
His voice in this trailer sounds like Max Payne except his voice kinda sounds too soft to REALLY sound like Payne. - Caleb83, on 09/24/2008, -0/+5"The truth split my skull open, a glaring green light washing the lies away. All of my past was just fragmented still shots, words hanging in the air like balloons. I was in a graphic novel. Funny as Hell, it was the most horrible thing I could think of."
I hope there's a 'self-aware' comment like that where Payne realizes he's in a movie. I know usually it's a faux-pas to break the 4th wall, but damnit, the game did it twice in an hour.
And my favorite quote (thanks for the link, mythic) is "Collecting evidence had gotten old a few hundred bullets back. I was already so far past the point-of-no-return I couldn't remember what it had looked like when I had passed it." - inactive, on 09/24/2008, -0/+5Well. Maybe Sex Drive. That film looks hilarious (a fact that was recently confirmed by aintitcool)
- StigNordas, on 09/24/2008, -0/+4It's going to be huge.
- Irco, on 09/25/2008, -0/+4I've been wondering that as well.
I think they are gonna tie the drug's dame (valkyr) to the Valkyries (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valkyrie)
As for the angel-like creatures, I'm guessing the constant reference to "flesh of fallen angels" is what brought them to the movie. I'm guessing they are only part of max's hallucinations - Stonekeeper, on 09/25/2008, -0/+4I hope they keep the music
- RuSTeDs, on 09/24/2008, -1/+4Max Payne movie creators made this sweet live action comic (ala Sin City, with full captions!) as a homage to fans, no doubt! The movie buffs might think its a clever way to tell the origin story, but for people who played the Max Payne games, this is beyond awesome! Its a perfect homage to the fans of the games. I loved the comic-book art style of the game and thought it perfectly captured the atmosphere for the story. I'm honestly sold for this movie, and going in opening night and I'll try to get as many people as I can to watch it. I just hope I don't come out disappointed!
- MisterMajusty, on 09/25/2008, -0/+3Who knows maybe Max Payne is hallucinating all those demons or maybe they're there for dramatic effect. All I know is that Max Payne made many references to norse mythology. The movie looks dark and I am psyched about it, Constantine-like or not.
- mythicflux, on 09/24/2008, -0/+3"Mine wasn't the most original approach to the problem: An eye for an eye, the oldest principle of revenge. Old as dirt, but still going strong."
http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Max_Payne - Peko, on 09/24/2008, -0/+3No. You're thinking of his brother, Donnie. Off to the wiki with you!
- tbredofsin, on 09/24/2008, -1/+4It sounds like the game. Which could be very, very fun.
- infinityredux, on 09/25/2008, -0/+2"The final gunshot was an exclamation mark to everything that had led to this point. I released my finger from the trigger. And then it was over"
- cptmichael101st, on 09/24/2008, -0/+2"i've tasted the flesh of fallen angels?"
- bryonsmothers, on 09/25/2008, -0/+2If this is half as good as the games it will rock!
- Blandyman, on 09/24/2008, -0/+2Extinction was way overboard. Nothing really Resident Evil and the ending just made me go "Why?"
But, the first was enjoyable, as was the second. - JohnKappa, on 10/25/2008, -0/+2Yes...One of the bset game soundtracks.
- Blandyman, on 09/24/2008, -0/+2It's valkyries. The drug they gave the crazed people who murdered his family. He's hallucinating about them.
I doubt they're real. Besides points where he seems to freak out, the only time a valkyrie has any contact with a person, they fall out of a window... maybe from Max's perspective, the valkyrie yanked this guy off... but maybe in actuality, Max pushed him off.
We'll only find out after we see it... or someone else does and and ruins it for us :( - darthsand, on 09/24/2008, -3/+5Pretty good.
- Stoyanov, on 09/24/2008, -1/+3It's great to see the comic with real actors. FYI this has been released in 720p: http://streamingmovies.ign.com/movies/article/912/ ...
- heymikedude, on 09/25/2008, -0/+1chalk full of WIN
- xtmno3, on 09/25/2008, -0/+1For anyone who wants to see a good movie with Wahlberg in it, check out "Shooter". I love that damn movie.
- Neiby, on 09/25/2008, -0/+1Get a better computer.
- Neiby, on 09/25/2008, -0/+1Exactly. The same thing is confusing me. I didn't remember any giant flying supernatural creatures in the game. I just remembered the drug.
- Enthwar, on 09/25/2008, -0/+1Much win.
- rheaume, on 09/25/2008, -0/+1As she walked out the door to bone another dude
- TheMightyDane, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1Über hot !
- b1m2x3, on 09/25/2008, -1/+2"i had it all. A career I was good at... snow constantly blowing in my face..."
- brownsound00, on 09/25/2008, -1/+2I'm pretty pumped because it was filmed at my university. You know the part in the trailer where max is in the water? yea, that's our pool. I was working at a sports camp while it was getting filmed and we couldn't go swimming for a week because a "movie was being shot". i was pissed until i found out it was max payne... and then i got pissed the next week when some kid took a huge dump in the pool and it was closed for another week.
- Firespray1138, on 09/25/2008, -1/+2Please let this movie be at least decent and actually feel somewhat like the game...
- UBERMAN5000, on 09/25/2008, -0/+1that's kind of how i took it - just had been so long since I've played, couldn't remember if there was anything with them in the games or not.
internet ruins all new media - antdude, on 09/25/2008, -0/+1Uh, the games were like that too. :P
- Hollow5, on 09/25/2008, -0/+1games sucked, but when game suck, the movie comes decent.
