- doublefelix, on 07/08/2009, -1/+82Spoiler alert: MacGruber dies in the beginning, middle, and end.
- ghaltmann, on 07/08/2009, -3/+80This is a ***** horrible idea.
- RegalBegal, on 07/08/2009, -2/+48I don't know why anyone would look forward to this. It's a funny skit and I love Will Forte and Kristen Wiig, but I feel what works great as a skit is going to seem contrived on the big screen.
How many SNL skit movies have been really GREAT?
Wayne's World? Decent (For me only because of my adolescence at the time)
Stuart Smally? Crap.
Pat? Crap
Ladies Man? Crap
Night at the Roxbury? Crap
Coneheads and Blues Brothers were good but also from a different time. - DivisibleByZero, on 07/08/2009, -2/+38How about just making an actual MacGyver movie instead?
- missjames, on 07/08/2009, -0/+33the greatness of MacGruber is that it's in quick bites of stupidness. 1.5 hours (or god help us, 2) of MacGruber is way too much.
- martianbob, on 07/08/2009, -3/+33Blues Brothers. You both fail.
- beetrixi, on 07/08/2009, -11/+34Finally, the best skit on SNL in decades, gets to be crapped up by Hollywood.
- sdcarter, on 07/08/2009, -0/+23This can get a green light and a Serenity sequel can't?
- athinnes, on 10/01/2009, -6/+28Waynes World was great, not decent.
- iamnobody8614, on 07/08/2009, -0/+21Yeah, but it's got to be with Richard Dean Anderson or nothing.
- CTK14A, on 07/08/2009, -3/+18"Anal Lubricant? So... you just kinda had this?"
- jrm125, on 07/08/2009, -5/+16Unless we're talking about Wayne's World...none of the SNL sketeches are any good in movie form. This will likely be one more for the pile.
- censormagnet, on 07/08/2009, -0/+10Coneheads was a great movie
if i did not fear incarceration by human authority figures i would apply sufficient pressure to your blunt skull as to cause it collapse - SwiftKick34, on 07/08/2009, -0/+9Lol I love MacGruber as much as the next guy, but how can they stretch this out for 90 minutes?
- undervalued, on 07/08/2009, -1/+10Wayne's world, at the time I thought it was great, diminished slightly now but still quite decent.
Blues Brothers, one of the best movies of all ***** time. - LilJimmyNordin, on 07/08/2009, -1/+9Don't practice your alliteration on me.
- lostarchitect, on 07/08/2009, -1/+9I don't even think it's particularly funny as a skit. as a movie? ugh. what a bad idea.
- jimbruno, on 07/08/2009, -1/+9Pepsi product placement?
- mlvassallo, on 07/08/2009, -0/+8Um, SNL skit movies are usually produced and written by SNL writers/cast/producers...
Also, Waynes World and Blues Brothers were awesome. - KingBabi, on 07/08/2009, -1/+9Are you kidding me? Every SNL sketch movie is pure comedy gold. "It's Pat" was so scrumtrilescent I can barely move, "The Ladies Man" was a blinding brilliant light from heaven, and "Night at the Roxbury" was like looking into the face of God and him smiling back and saying 'you are my finest creation.'
Seriously, though, who the hell thinks fleshing out bit characters who are merely glorified gimmicks is a good idea? - yunus, on 07/08/2009, -0/+7If this is a success it will mean Laser Cats The movie not to mention another 3 or 4 crappy skits that will be made into a movie.
- fadetoone, on 07/08/2009, -0/+7Come on guys, keep up with your movie news: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1399045/
I hope MacGruber has RDA as his dad though. - KarateMedia, on 07/08/2009, -0/+6As mentioned above, taking something that is inherently funny only in small, short doses, and trying to make it 90x longer is just a horrible, horrible idea.
The only way I could see this working is maybe if it's done in a very Police Squad style, with Forte basically doing a Leslie Neilsen with the character. Someone who leaves a wake of absurd, slapstick destruction in his path. And even then it had a good chance of sucking. - marmotjmarmot, on 07/08/2009, -0/+6In response to that I have one word:
Coneheads. - bigteebo, on 07/08/2009, -0/+6Heck, he probably perishes in the previews.
- darkfus, on 07/08/2009, -0/+5This is one of the worst skits ever.
- drewba, on 07/08/2009, -1/+6A Night at the Roxbury is no pile of crap - YOU WATCH YOUR MOUTH
- MacEnvy, on 07/08/2009, -0/+5Don't apply your alliteration to anyone.
(FTFY) - inactive, on 07/08/2009, -0/+5This sketch sucks. It's the exact same thing every single time. I'm not sure how they plan to make a movie out of this...
- HeyArnold, on 07/08/2009, -0/+5NOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooo
- evildeadguy, on 07/08/2009, -1/+6Wayne's World - 1992
Coneheads - 1993 - mythicflux, on 07/08/2009, -0/+5"Who's the lucky girl?"
- stevenr21, on 07/08/2009, -0/+4exactly what i was thinking. sure the skit CAN be funny at times but in movie format???
- ozroy, on 07/08/2009, -1/+5The Blues Brothers was awesome!
And Wayne's World wasn't too bad.
And I haven't seen most of the rest of them. - SkippyDoorknob, on 07/08/2009, -0/+4Not an SNL movie.
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -0/+4I'd rather see Lazer Cats.
- duggtodeath, on 07/08/2009, -1/+5NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! SNL movies based on skits are guaranteed to fail. Skits are funny because they are short and sweet. There isn't enough material there to stretch out the joke across 90 minutes.
Evidence: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturday_Night_Live#F ... - warispeace21, on 07/08/2009, -5/+9Blues Brothers?
- UselessTrivia, on 07/08/2009, -0/+4This will never work! MacGruber is just a series of 30 second clips.
There's no way they'd ever be able to stretch that out into a featur.........
<HUGE EXPLOSION>
MACGRUBER! - andrewlotta, on 07/08/2009, -1/+5But MacGruber isn't funny...
- hasslinthehoff, on 07/08/2009, -1/+4Who could possibly drag something like that out for two hours? Only the most brilliant minds of Hollywood, that's who.
- tewcewl, on 07/08/2009, -0/+3Shia? What you doing on Digg?
- britva836, on 07/08/2009, -0/+3EFF you guys! I stand by my statement!
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -0/+3Pepsuber!
- MeltingIce, on 07/08/2009, -0/+3More like every 30 seconds
- smackydoodle, on 07/08/2009, -0/+3I wonder if it'll be on IMAX?
Seriously tho, they should charge about $1.73 to see this. - tinkafoo, on 07/08/2009, -0/+3waitaminute.. It will be a movie based on a skit based on a television show. Something tells me this ain't gonna work.
- phrost88, on 07/08/2009, -1/+42 good movies vs 78 bad ones... hmm, i don't like the odds
- offthewagon, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2How can they turn this premise into a 90 minute movie?
First act, Macgruber meets a girl, then explodes
Second act, Macgruber's girlfriend leaves him. Then he explodes
Third act, Macgruber's love comes back to him, then he explodes. - RegalBegal, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2I meant the original skit, but yeah it did come out after.
