- deadapostle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2MPAA spokesperson quoted as saying "C'mon, guys. What's the big deal. Everybody's doing it and nobody's getting hurt in the process."
- jobeats, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yes dupe but guess Digg users just can't get enough of bashing the MPAA
- SNACKeR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Umm, RTFA. They copied them so that they could mount the disks as a RAID array, and thus watch the movie faster. Where's the problem?
- Battlecry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Who the heck uses the word "inveighing"?
- wickedsun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I AM THE LAW!" screamed Stalone.
- pirracas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cant wait to see how this thing ends! Mainly because their only excuse is the same as ours... (as long copies are not made for $$$)
- fuzzycasserole, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's what we call irony kids.
- bluefire0728, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wait, wasn't this on the front page yesterday already...?

Psst. It's intellectually -- with two L's. Might want to run spell check next time. :) - EyeDye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Who the heck uses the word "inveighing"?"
People who are intellectualy superior to yourself. - burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As much as I would like to watch this, simply for the sake of spite, I think it may not be the most brilliant thing to torrent at the moment.
- chiefbozz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I would LOVE to see them win this case. Especially with the excuse of it not being used for money. I really don't see that happening though since that would really hurt everything their moneygrubbin hands are fighting for. I think they will plead guilty and pay the fine. Not like they don't have the money right?
- xpsgen2man, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol hack the planet (hackers) HACK THE PLANET!!
- LordHalo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0its time to get started pirating movies. if they nail me, I'll just shove this article right up in their american ass
- spikes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am the alpha, and the omega
- wickedsun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I will. This case is causing such grief in my life, I do not sleep anymore. In other news, the sun gave me sunburns, so I'll be suing that too. We need to keep the solar system in line people. GRAVITATIONAL FORCES HAVE GOT TO GO. HACK THE PLANET.
- skadude101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is a duplicate story. No digg.

:) - Hamsterpotpies, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lets sue them. see how they like it.
- snapcase, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"According to Mark Lemley, a professor at the Stanford Law School, the MPAA may have been within its rights to make copies of the film. Given that the MPAA's intent isn't financial gain..."
If that's the case, then freely distributing a movie over the internet, or making free copies for your friends is perfectly legal. So why then do they say it is illegal for anyone outside the MPAA to make copies of movies regarless of their motives? If this goes to court, and they use that excuse, then it will become a valid defense for anyone getting charged with copyright infringement. - dupswapdrop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hehe I have worked in both big software houses and on some small films.
They all copy other peoples stuff, because we need to know what other firms are doing!
But we are don't need to buy the product because that's helping our competitors.
And at the same time that they are suing for infringement on their stuff, as one CEO told me
"the law does not apply to how we do business!".
This from a guy that had half his staff ripping sex flims for him, because he was fixated on some pron star!
remember do as I say not as I do! - lordwow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I could have sworn I saw this yesterday...
- phenolite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0silly MPAA, piracy is for...pirates :)
- pomaybo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hrrm... this makes me want to download something...

- chadell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 "C'mon, guys. What's the big deal. Everybody's doing it and nobody's getting hurt in the process."
This just goes to show that there is no honour amongst thieves, i.e.MPAA. - treelovinhippie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who's suing them?
- definiteform, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Clash - I Fought the Law
- BritOverseas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bout time, I am so sick of the people telling me I have to buy the same movie four or five times to watch it in all the places I possibly can, (Home DVD Player, Car, Laptop, Treo, and PSP if I can be bothered), screw you...
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"We made a copy of Kirby's movie because it had implications for our employees,"
The three good movies that come out every decade have implications for our society as a whole, so I feel obliged to make copies. Via Bittorrent. - dossy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0(WTF? I was commenting on another Digg story and my comment ended up here? D'oh.)
- enforcerpsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Someone should sue them. Hypocrites.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is wonderful. Maybe now sony and Bgm and Mpaa and the Riaa can all get sued till they're completely broke. =D

- MalDON, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just because its on a different site doesn't make it new news, or infact not a dupe. *sigh*
- psyber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0according to Mark Lemley, a professor at the Stanford Law School, the MPAA may have been within its rights to make copies of the film. Given that the MPAA's intent isn't financial gain and that the whole situation may rise above the level of trading barbs through the media into legal action, making a copy may be justified.
Isn't the point of pirating movies at home financial gain? - KingChango, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The laywer is using the same argument as the majority of home movie downloaders?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0dude they need their ass handed to them!
- kevinisms, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hilarious!! Did anyone else notice that the MPAA also gave the documentary a NC-17. That's the death knell for a movie. They'd just love to bury this story and movie all at once.
- jacobficarro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hillllllllllarious!
- Omicron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sounds like a great movie. where can i download it? ;)
- artman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They made copies so they could fap to all the NC-17 content in the privacy of their own homes?
/got nothin' - stisev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DIGG.
Those ***** bitches. - dossy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"In order to keep the site from being looted, [...]"
These games were unsellable but they needed to prevent them from being looted? Huh? Hello? Duh.
I guess that's why we don't have an Atari console today. Evolution had its way with Atari, and they went extinct. - VinCenT13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0haha, ***** YOU MPAA I hope you get your asses handed to you.
I'll make sure I don't miss this movie as well - jagnum1fan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ALL YOUR MPAA ARE BELONG TO US
