- bobboberton, on 11/13/2008, -2/+17A proper use of the word "epic" on digg?
All that we know is at an end - listrophy, on 11/13/2008, -1/+10He should be alright as long as he wears sunscreen.
- LeviTheSmith, on 11/13/2008, -0/+9He made it in Windows Movie Maker.
- sleeknerve, on 11/13/2008, -1/+10lol, too late
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -1/+9He has to make sure he has time for it to render in Final Cut Pro!
- doncarajo, on 11/13/2008, -2/+10In case the movie's *****, he can say "I told you it was unfinished!"
- Mujokan, on 11/13/2008, -0/+6Sydney didn't exist in the 1930s?
- Fush, on 11/13/2008, -0/+6I doubt your story that you have seen a test screening, I was working of the film up until 2 weeks ago.. we didn't have any shots that where even at the standard of rough copies until the beginning of September
- Mujokan, on 11/13/2008, -2/+7Any guy in the Australian outback who was as "pretty" as Jackman looks in that photo would probably get so much ***** he would move to Sydney by the time he was 18.
- LukeUlrich, on 11/13/2008, -1/+5They've already screened it? It must be just irrelevant tiny issues.
- mlagana, on 11/13/2008, -4/+7because you're dumb
- meean, on 11/13/2008, -1/+4This makes me feel a lot better about procrastinating my ass off for the last week.
- Dermah, on 11/13/2008, -0/+3Advice is a form of nostalgia.
- dawnraid101, on 11/13/2008, -1/+4no no he made each frame in paint, and converted them into an animated gif.
- vinceislegend, on 11/13/2008, -0/+3Don't bash her too hard--she's got some good movies to her name. Eyes Wide Shut, Cold Mountain, and Moulin Rouge to name a few.
Honestly though, I don't really like her that much. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but something about her just rubs me the wrong way. - vinceislegend, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal.
- bnitro, on 11/13/2008, -1/+3130 Million!? Uh oh
- virtualonliner, on 11/13/2008, -11/+13Why do I feel that this movie is gonna be a flop?
- kjd84, on 11/13/2008, -2/+4No Wuckin Furries
- kocurejd, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Son of a bitch, I hate Final Cut Pro. Had to make a movie on a Mac in college, and about 1/2 the time I tried to play, edit, or save the film in Final Cut Pro, the computer froze up and I lost everything. Didn't matter which computer in the lab I used, it froze.
- jmoo1, on 11/13/2008, -2/+4Another Aussie drama set in the rugged outback in the post-colonial period... why, why, WHY? Can't we ***** let it go and produce something that's not a caricature?
But then again I loved Crackerjack so he's probably not making it for me. - Mujokan, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Oh my god, I thought Sydney was built just for the Crocodile Dundee movie in the 1980s!
Maybe it's a bad photo, but the expression on his face looks more like Zoolander than a cowboy. Don't make a federal case out of a dumb joke. - gbro, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2wiping it off,
- ridd1e, on 11/13/2008, -1/+2Erm… how do they say… no worries?
- cannonball, on 11/13/2008, -1/+2yeah, any movie without batman sucks...
seriously, what was so wrong with it? i like luhrmann's work. moulin rouge, romeo + juliet, and strictly ballroom are all amazing films/classics. its hard to take your comment seriously with just a "terrible" comment. - BugMeNot2, on 11/13/2008, -1/+2What the ***** is this, I've never heard of it before.
- shenanigoats, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1I'm looking forward to exactly this and Quantum of Solace. ***** awards season for movies this year...
- tbenathan, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1Cold Mountain is a truly horrible movie. Moulin Rouge is unwatchable as well.
- highpitch83, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1Saw the trailer and it looks terrible...
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -1/+2god hugh jackman's an attractive man
- Oztog, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1What do you mean if?
- skywake, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1Crackerjack was great (well at least I thought so). If only movies like that would end up being the ones that "sell Australia".... but they never will. Americans would walk out after the first five minutes complaining about how they don't understand our accent. I guess a movie about lawn bowls is a hard sell anyway. :(
- MickJT, on 11/13/2008, -3/+3It's set in the 1930's.... so, I don't think so.
- gbro, on 11/13/2008, -1/+1"The film tells the tale of an English aristocrat (Kidman) who inherits a sprawling Outback property and falls in love with a cowboy (Jackman)".
"Cowboy"? Stockman tyvm. - SissySlapParty, on 11/13/2008, -1/+1There is nothing in this movie that seems new or engaging.
I haven't seen this movie, but based on the trailer alone, and assuming coz23 has seen a screening - I'd be inclined to agree with him.
Considering the amount invested in this, not only in terms of funding but our film industry as a whole.. Well, I think this is going to leave alot of disillusion.
I think the script in this might've been largely swapped out for cheap epic tirades. If that's the case then the film will suffer for it.
STILL - That being said - at least it's a step in the right direction. - vinceislegend, on 11/13/2008, -1/+1This strikes me as one of those movies that will turn out to be pretty good, but an hour and a half too long. I dunno how long it is though, so maybe I'm speaking too soon.
- mlagana, on 11/13/2008, -1/+1pumped!
- coz23, on 11/13/2008, -1/+1http://www.aintitcool.com/talkback_display/37283?q ...
orly?
Obviously I don't agree with that "review" at all.. - rheaume, on 11/13/2008, -1/+1Looks beautiful
- pinchduck, on 11/13/2008, -1/+1slip, slap, slop.
- cyberdash, on 11/13/2008, -8/+8From the sounds of it its currently not being organized very well, going to go very poorly economically, and the story involves people bombing things.
Maybe it should be called America. - Velly, on 11/14/2008, -0/+0I think this will bomb worse than Pearl Harbour.... seriously
- avatarpalin, on 11/13/2008, -1/+1I'm sitting on the toilet...My work is also unfinished..
- Astrad, on 11/13/2008, -0/+0"You really think that on my films people tell me what to do? I don't think so - on my films I decide," he said.
"Uh Baz, Stone made his Alexander epic so we're pulling out of yours." - DestroyFascism, on 11/13/2008, -1/+1It could be another film that like the Never Never just goes on and on and on and on and on and on and then you die...
Probably not though. It looks good! - DavoDinkum, on 11/13/2008, -2/+1I expected someone to reply to this with a witty "EPIC REALIZATION" or "EPIC COMMENT",
then get dugg down into Morrowind.
then a "OOOH i see wat u did there LOLNERD"
after mine - coz23, on 11/13/2008, -2/+1Heh.. you'll see.. or not? I actually liked his other work too, even as a guy Moulin Rouge was a fun movie and Strictly Ballroom was a solid, amusing first effort. This movie though is just a massive abortion of filmmaking - its so bad, its almost a parody of an "epic" movie. Think "Far and Away 2". The script is just awful. The "bachelorette auction" scene (yeah) of a recent widower alone is filled with horrible, horrible clichés i.e. "20 quid for a dance! 50! 100! villain: '500 QUID'" which will make you vomit in terror. The constant "Wizard of Oz" (GET IT GUYS? LIKE OZ = AUSTRALIA? GET IT???) are horrific. Kidman plays herself for the 20th time. Wolverine is the only non-lowlight of the movie - I thought it was awesome how 1940s Australia has an apparent dearth of personal trainers and HGH! Who knew! The villains are hackneyed and done a thousand times over - "Wow this WOMAN beat us in a CATTLE DRIVE, she's our VILEST ENEMY I MUST HUNT HER DOWN AND DEFEAT HER". blah blah blah.
The one asian character in the film is named "Sing Song"?
Really?
Sing Song? - jaypooner, on 11/13/2008, -3/+1he is the embodiment of procrastination
- GregIsLegend, on 11/13/2008, -4/+1Oops
- Fush, on 11/13/2008, -4/+1You have to be kidding...read wikipedia man....Sydney is Australia's oldest city, founded in 1788.
What MickJT is referring to is that in the 1930's most people in Australia hadn't (other then immigrants) gone overseas let alone interstate, so the likely hood of Jackman's character (The Drover) moving to sydney would be absurd. -
