- marciot, on 11/08/2009, -6/+37Video found after 93 years -- those late video rental return fees are gonna hurt.
- inactive, on 11/08/2009, -0/+27you mean after Ebay and PayPal fees?
- LonesomeFighter, on 11/07/2009, -1/+28what's it worth?
- hairyblue, on 11/08/2009, -1/+25Hitler looks like Chaplin.
- hairyblue, on 11/08/2009, -2/+24brb, gonna look in my attic for priceless films.
- AlienMushroom, on 11/08/2009, -1/+19I'd bid $6.01.
- guyincognitoo, on 11/08/2009, -1/+15Don't forget baseball cards, comics, and copies of the Declaration of Independence.
- MacBookForMe, on 11/07/2009, -4/+16Charlie Chaplin - the best actor ever!
- Jerky1312, on 11/08/2009, -0/+7Husband: Honey, I just sold that old film from the attic to an idiot in England.
Wife: Dear, you wont believe this... Some idiot just sold a classic Charlie Chaplin film on ebay for only $5.
Husband: ... - paulvq, on 11/08/2009, -1/+7An item is worth as much as someone will pay for it.
- kakwakas, on 11/08/2009, -1/+6Hitler was a huge fan.
- AlienMushroom, on 11/08/2009, -0/+5Do you know why you are buried?
- ophello, on 11/08/2009, -2/+7when you buy something with a currency that is worth more than a dollar, you have to sell it for MORE DOLLARS.
math FAIL - Jaime2000, on 11/08/2009, -0/+4The film IS out of copyright, but it depends on whether the owner puts it online or not.
- Jaime2000, on 11/08/2009, -1/+5It's invaluable. It needs to be put up on the internet archive with the other Chaplin movies so everyone can enjoy it.

Besides, going back in time is dangerous what with the wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff. - apothekari, on 11/08/2009, -0/+4Or the holy grail of lost films, London After Midnight.
- Philbert, on 11/08/2009, -0/+4How long before it's on YouTube?
- marciot, on 11/08/2009, -0/+4But time travel *is* possible -- Charlie Chaplin helped IBM introduce the IBM PC.
- rrwest, on 11/08/2009, -0/+3FTA: "We think we might have made THE cinematic find of the last 100 years."
In his haste, he negelcted to remember the discovery a few years back of a complete "Edison's Frankenstein" from 1910, which I believe is much more valuable to the film community than a "lost Chaplin".
Chaplin made dozens, if not hundreds of reels, while Edison, coming in at the start of the film industry, made far fewer films. That makes the first true horror film by Edison that much more important historically.
Which is, of course my opinion. - kevro, on 11/08/2009, -0/+3No, unfortunately for that you have to get in to a T.A.R.D.I.S. go back in time and tape them from the original broadcast.
- j0phus, on 11/08/2009, -3/+6I think half the country would argue that Ronald Reagan was the best actor ever. Of course their opinion doesn't count. :-)
- ItWasOnlyAJoke, on 11/08/2009, -0/+3Seller's current emotional state: "pwned."
- seeliyon, on 11/08/2009, -4/+7This is incredible! When I was a kid, I was introduced to Chaplin at about age 9. I actually dressed up as him several times when I was a teenager, and one of my younger brother's best friends went as him this year for Halloween. So cool that this lost film has been found.
- MtheoryX, on 11/08/2009, -0/+3Is he back yet? WHAT HAPPENED TO HAIRYBLUE?!?!?!
- paulvq, on 11/08/2009, -0/+3You can't be serious.
- notzak, on 11/08/2009, -5/+7Using what rationale? He may have starred in world-famous short films, but his over the top vaudevillian acting style is hardly refined.
That being said, he is awesome though. - PrettyBoyFloyd, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2Yeah, I'd pay $6 to see that one. All that remain are a bunch of stills. The nitrate negative either burned in a fire or has deteriorated into dust over the years.
- TheEggAndI, on 11/08/2009, -1/+3i bet that seller is kicking himself in the nuts right about now.
- MtheoryX, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1Don't scare me like that!
- Grizza, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1Not to mention the lost footage from Metropolis that was found a couple years ago.
- antdude, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1Record, encode, and upload. ;)
- TheEggAndI, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1personally i prefer buster keaton over chaplin, but they're both titans of performance
- seeliyon, on 11/08/2009, -1/+2@ Kakwakas -
Despite, of course, the movie "The Little Dictator" - Atario, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1If they found a video Chaplin made, they have something priceless: evidence that time travel is possible. Up to now, it was thought that all his work was done on film.
- Grizza, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1I can't wait to see the restored Metropolis print. I agree that that movie was way ahead of its time.
The movie I wish I could see the most though is The Magnificent Ambersons (the Orsen Welles cut). We can always dream I guess. - DulcetTone, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1As odd as your post is, it's odd and INTERESTING!
- MtheoryX, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1The market has spoken, apparently.
- tj_walker, on 11/18/2009, -0/+1I guess it is true that one can purchase damn near anything off of the E-Bay.
= : )K - rrwest, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1Critics of the time claimed that it was Chaney's masterpiece.
- seeliyon, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1...What?
I had no idea that there was someone like that in a...movie? TV show? My name is Jolee, my little brother is James. Are we not as original as we thought we were? Dammit ._. - razmig, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1So what you're saying is you are Lindsay Weir and by younger brother's best friend you mean Neal Schweiber.
I am so pathetic...but GOD I loved that show! - Puppytwo, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1Would you prefer they wait a few years?
- hairyblue, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1Who am I kidding, there was nothing priceless in my attic. I LIVE in my attic...
- WillHutch, on 11/08/2009, -1/+2Right, you commie. Everything has a value. If you had this "invaluable" piece of film I'm sure you'd just donate it for everyone.
- tessaalfred, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1Charlie Chaplin not only good actor but also Great man... Big Salute to the Funny Legend...
- hairyblue, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1I appreciate the concern though MtheoryX ;)
