- Superperson, on 10/04/2008, -7/+73Yay, Michael Moore's giving out his latest film for free!
-Oh wait, it's just a barely put-together documentary about how awesome and funny and inspiring Michael Moore is.
-Oh wait, it should have been released about 3 years ago.
-Oh wait, if you post a link to a FREE MOVIE you get in trouble. - artfuldodga, on 10/03/2008, -1/+33well, i was thinking of buying the film for 9$ but after seeing this sad use of the bittorrent protocol... f*ck that *****, if you're going to promote sharing, you better mean it.
- dedknedy, on 10/05/2008, -5/+35Seriously.... this movie wasn't even worth the time it took to watch it. It's more of a promotional film for the Democratic party's Hollywood elite. Don't get me wrong, I though Moore's last 3 films were very point driven and thought provoking, but this is just bad. I guess if you have some free time it's entertaining enough in a couple areas not to be a complete throw away, but if your looking for the typical Moore documentary you will be disappointed.
- tourettes1992, on 10/05/2008, -3/+20Doc: Great Scott! Michael Moore could conceivably put a moive out for free! The consequences of that could be disastrous.
Marty: Doc, what do you mean?
Doc: I foresee two possibilities. One, paying $17.99 for the DVD Or two, downloading the free torrent could create a time paradox, the results of which could cause a chain reaction, that would unravel the very fabric of the space time continuum, and destroy the entire universe! - theduffster89, on 10/05/2008, -39/+55Michael Moore sucks
- VCubed, on 10/03/2008, -5/+21Here comes a great match-up: monopolies vs. Michael Moore, bring it on!
- inactive, on 10/05/2008, -1/+15Marty: This is heavy!
Doc: Indeed, the gravitational pull around Michael Moore has caused a disruption in the geomagnetic poles, resulting in an increase in the weight throughout the northern hemisphere! - ghostrc, on 10/05/2008, -1/+15Michael Moore's views on file sharing:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlAB0v8wHdc - inactive, on 10/05/2008, -4/+15Wasn't even a movie... It was just a series of clips. Sucked ass.
- AgmLauncher, on 10/05/2008, -3/+14Great, this makes it easier for me to not see it!
- soomprimal, on 10/05/2008, -1/+10He could have kept the rights and then distributed it internationally by himself and gotten the near same level of exposure. The way that the law works, stopping ideas (intellectual property) at borders is absurd considering the era of information exchange we are in. The fact that a filmmaker can't even own the rights to distribute his own movie outside the country is absurd.
- reed311, on 10/05/2008, -0/+9Heh, that's funny. According to the e-mail that Moore sent, people were free to share it on any website and they were even allowed to screen it and charge admission. I'm guessing there is a disagreement with his studio on how this should be done.
- cygnus2112, on 10/05/2008, -2/+11Please. No. Don't try to inject that mental imagery.
- loganro, on 10/05/2008, -15/+23Yes he does.
- zephc, on 10/05/2008, -1/+8Marty: What's a DVD?

Where Moore is Wrong

That's just the tip of the iceberg. - inactive, on 10/05/2008, -1/+8Dumb americans voted for a monkey because the other guy looked french.
- Dymphna, on 10/05/2008, -2/+8I'm going to fault the studios here more than Moore himself, though I feel Moore should have kept the rights to the movie, it wouldn't have been as big an issue. The studios and him seem to have different intrepretations of how the movie should be distributed. In the future Moore, good idea but keep the rights and handle it yourself. It's more hassle and work for sure, and riskier on your pocketbook, but you'll be able to make plans like this work out better in the long run.
- dojonz, on 10/05/2008, -0/+6I've seen and enjoyed Michael Moore's other documentaries.. but this is quite boring, not much substance.. just a lot of the same scenes albiet in different arenas with different audiences.
- InfernoX, on 10/05/2008, -1/+7The third one is really interesting so far, we watched Bowling for Columbine in class a couple of weeks ago and I kept and while I thought a lot of it was out of context I didn't realize it was THAT deceptive.
- rightmindx, on 10/05/2008, -0/+6"The fact that a filmmaker can't even own the rights to distribute his own movie outside the country is absurd."
Unless a director finances the movie himself, he is unlikely to own the distribution rights. Directors are artists hired to perform a job in exchange for monetary compensation. The work he does becomes the property of whoever is paying for it.
If I gave you $1000 to design a logo for my company, the logo belongs to me. Sure, you could showcase it in your portfolio, but other than that you are not allowed to sell the design to someone else. I paid for it, therefore I own the rights to use if, even if you are the one who designed it. Get it now? - mllawso, on 10/05/2008, -2/+7I don't think anyone listens to Michael Moore anymore.
- inactive, on 10/05/2008, -7/+12Who cares. That movie sucks, they're doing you a service by not letting you see it
- blacklilyninja, on 10/05/2008, -0/+5because he's not a lawyer.. he's an idealist. Idealists are just puppets for lawyers. Oh and entertainment lawyers are vampires who work for big business. Film distributors for example.
..I wonder who would benefit most from a film being released for actual money?
film makers have no real influence.
i mean... why do you think there is this big fight over Watchmen and why did fox wait until well into production to start the suit? They was distribution "control". Thats where the money is. - PatrickBrown, on 10/05/2008, -1/+5Did anyone actually read the article?
But according to Moore's publicity team, the documentary maker only owns the North American rights to the film. So, while he's happy to distribute it for free, the Weinstein Company, which owns international distribution rights, may not be so inclined. - blacklilyninja, on 10/05/2008, -3/+7it was his lawyers that put an end to this not him. lawyers figured there was no money involved so they needed a make-work project. I'm betting Mike Moore could care less.
- galeninjapan, on 10/05/2008, -2/+5What happened in 2004?
- tocsy, on 10/05/2008, -0/+3To be ABSOLUTELY fair, he only has rights to it in North America, so that's where he's giving it out. He can't control what some other company (which has control of rights outside of North America) does.
- PeppersGhost, on 10/05/2008, -7/+10I've seen this movie, it was pretty good.
- AzureRise, on 10/05/2008, -0/+3http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2b1D5w82yU
- inactive, on 10/05/2008, -1/+4InfernoX that's the main problem I have with Michael Moore. Teachers across America show his films to students as factual documentaries, though they don't even fall under that category by the academy of film's standards. Students are forced to watch his films and also An Inconvenient Truth and not educated about the many inaccuracies. It's fine to show his point of view, but he is infamous for using deceptive editing and blatant lying, and many times, his point of view isn't balanced out by the other side of the political spectrum.
- stealthspc, on 10/05/2008, -24/+27***** Michael Moore and his fact twisted movies.
- Shaman760, on 10/05/2008, -0/+3***** those lawyer bitches. Mr. Moore gave us that movie and they can suck the collective big penis. These are the intertubes and nothing is sacred.
- overridemymind, on 10/05/2008, -0/+3"Our torrents were destroyed by a giant socialist weasel"
/Team America on Michael Moore - deadbaby, on 10/05/2008, -6/+8Don't even bother downloading it. It's pure Michael Moore masturbation. The whole movie is basically about how wonderful he is. For perspective, I'm a complete liberal and I liked Michael Moore's previous films for the most part. This movie is garbage. He should be PAYING ME to watch it.
- AzureRise, on 10/05/2008, -0/+2I think the studio owns the right, so he knows it'd be pointless to try. Not only that, but he put it on the net for free, he knows it's going to be distributed everywhere no matter what. No matter what the lawyers do, his movie will be distributed everywhere, just like he wanted.
- lebondarken, on 10/05/2008, -4/+6Moore disgusts me. I bet he is leading the attack against the same torrent sites that he asked to host the tracker. Really, what better publicity?
Something like when he condemns Halliburton in his films while holding substantial shares of it.
Dugg because Michael Moore is a jackass. - inactive, on 10/05/2008, -2/+4wow i was really hoping to get rickroll'd :(
- InfernoX, on 10/05/2008, -0/+2Well, just noticed the funny wording in my comment... meant to say "in class a couple of weeks ago and I kept thinking a lot of it was out of context I didn't realize it was THAT deceptive".
Anyway, I agree it's a problem. We actually had to write a review on it but I haven't gotten mine back yet. (I focused on the bias and lack of context) Also watched An Inconvenient truth last year in class and a few months after another teacher pointed out that several of Al Gore's graphs didn't actually have labels for any of the axis. - Softclone, on 10/05/2008, -0/+2Smart move. This draws more attention and increases overall distribution at zero cost.
I didn't even know he'd made another movie until now... - waldo686, on 10/05/2008, -0/+2my country left me in disbelief for a second time
'04 was the first election i was able to vote in you had better believe i chose the lesser of 2 evils - spinur, on 10/05/2008, -0/+2I don't know if it's Michael Moore or his lawyers, but someone is clearly mentally retarded here. His lawyers certainly seem to think that US laws apply everywhere else in the world, but it just ain't so. I think maybe he needs new lawyers.
- MrCobaltBlue, on 10/05/2008, -0/+2Where's my burrito! Where's my burrito!
- tigertee, on 10/05/2008, -0/+2i cant see what the big deal is, he is offering the film for free on the internet, the internet means everyone, i hate exclusive region content on the internet whats the point?
- onesam, on 10/05/2008, -1/+2or maybe a "farce".
- Degriz, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1Its a really dull, repetitive movie..Maybe they need the controversy to shift it? I like moores work a lot but by god this is a dullass movie.
- inactive, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1Don't cross the torrent streams..
Since each one of us is using an unlicensed torrent accelerator..
No it's not a trap..its just Egon.. - StankInTheBank, on 10/05/2008, -1/+2buried for using the scumpublican ***** term "hollywood elite"
- e61iuser, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1No, actually that makes sense. It's a "farce" that's "arse".
