Lawsuit Won't Stop The Watchmen

io9.com — It's looking bad for the Watchmen movie, now that a judge is allowing a lawsuit by Fox over the film rights to the famous graphic novel to go forward. It's even worse when you realize that the same judge ruled against Warner Bros. in a case involving the rights to a Dukes Of Hazzard movie 2 years ago.

  • Acidictadpole, on 08/19/2008, -0/+4It wasn't the rights to the watchmen movie (as I interpreted it from the article.) but rather rights to any movie the producer involved (Lawrence Gordon) made.

    Was a mistake on this Gordon fellows part I believe, and also on WB to not check that nothing like that was involved. But I think it's jerky of fox to go after Warner Bros about this instead of Gordon.

    They wait for the movie to be almost ready for release, then they sue. Just because you're a corporation doesn't mean you can't have some sort of scruples.

    Lack Luster or even box office failure of Clone Wars
    Pushing Harry Potter into next year.

    Batman can only help itself and maybe Speed Racer and face it, Watchmen isn't going to have legs like Batman to warrant another $20 million payout just to get it out the door.

    I personally can't wait to see it.
