SELaplana:"i haven’t watched it yet and never heard about it until I visited this blog. it is a new one?
but judging from the pic you posted here, this movie is something, i don’t know… i feel like it’s not really interesting."
Dave3:"Well, I’m glad I spent two hours formulating a comprehensive textual review, only to have you judge it based on a picture. Good job, SEL!" - prkchpsndwiches, on 10/11/2007, -2/+60I just came back from the theater 10 minutes ago. It was hilarious. It's one of those movies that has you laughing so much, you can't actually remember any of the lines, because it's all just one big laugh. Finally a movie worth leaving the house for!
- dpknc84, on 10/11/2007, -2/+38"This room has 5 different kinds of chairs! Did you know that this hotel has a guy whose job it is to only find chairs?!"
- Nick5309, on 10/11/2007, -6/+35 "It's Audience"...... *sigh*
Come on folks, it's the TITLE, put a little care into it. The title is what grabs the reader's attention, don't screw it up. - bluejays47, on 10/11/2007, -3/+32"The tall one is mocking me, and the short one is very droll."
- insinuate, on 10/11/2007, -4/+27Wow, I just saw this movie not an hour ago...I completely agree with the article. I was expecting not too good from the writer of the 40 year old virgin because that movies plot didn't flow very well imo... but WOW. I was blown away by Knocked Up. I even saw myself in Ben at times, and the whole thing had me clutching my stomach in laugh out loud comedy. Def go see it if you haven't
- EmmSee, on 10/11/2007, -2/+24Great movie ... so damn hilarious, GO SEE IT. support smart funny flicks
- ckSubs, on 10/11/2007, -13/+33Are YOU a virgin?
- Ellsass, on 11/05/2008, -1/+19"It's gonna be hard to get over Katherine Heigl's ugly face."
Blasphemy. - g33kfu, on 10/11/2007, -4/+19How's this one?
"Don't let the door hit you on the vagina on the way out!" - AriaStar, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16Dude, part of what was so great is that none of the characters deviated any further from who they are than would happen under those circumstances in real life. Before you bitch, watch the movie. It's one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time, yet is also sweet at just the right times. Actually a good date for you to take a girl to. There were the bong jokes that made my boyfriend laugh, the sweet stuff to make me smile, and some good ol' dirty raunch.
And, if it matters, you see her crotch three times. I won't say anymore on that one! - NoSpaceForRent, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16I got dragged into seeing this movie and really wasn't looking forward to it. I swear to god, funniest movie I've seen in a while. It just had a real true to life feeling. I hated 40 year old virgin, I thought it was too much hype. But this movie, was incredibly funny. I don't wanna give away anything in the movie but you'll leave thinking you've never seen a movie like that before. You ever hang out with friends and they have some crazy roommate story or something and everyone is like, they should make that into a movie. This movie is one of your unlucky friends story. It is likely one of the funnier movies in the past 5 years or so.

I had that very same problem, there were so many lines i was trying to remember. I had to cheat and look some up on the internet just so i could talk about it the next day. - nathanwalker, on 10/11/2007, -8/+19That's harsh.
- mjbinon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Bitter much?
- rubbad, on 10/11/2007, -4/+12yeah i totally agree
- rauz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Looks interesting! There's a lot of clips, trailers and deleted scenes on YouTube but I found this one particularly funny:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4Ls5YxxGbA - eean, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I loved that scene. :)
I enjoy bringing up flux capacitors or tetryon radiation in unrelated conversations myself. - dodus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6So wait...let me get this straight. You're a guy, and you're pissed at this movie for portraying a mediocre guy scoring a hot chick? So you'd rather have movies convincing women that they deserve only the hottest, most successful guys (i.e., the status quo)? That's got to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
- cd_RW, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6superbad is gonna be awesome. michael cera is funny as hell.
- peaboy55, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Was I the only person that laughed at the Matisyahu reference? I swear, it was one of the few times the entire theatre was quiet and I bust out laughing. Oh boy.
- M724, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9It's an intelligent review. I appreciate a well-written review that the writer takes the time to refine and post. Dugg.
- NoSpaceForRent, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8I know, I just remember a funny "Where babies come from" involving a stork and someone's butt falling off
- ElectricGrandpa, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Actually, real good-looking women sometimes do go after these kind of guys... It's not as crazy as you think. Just because a girl is hot doesn't mean she can't share the same tastes as the guy(or at least appreciate his).
- cogitocogito, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8He never gives up his friends, interests, or personality - nor is he ever asked to. (His lifestyle is alien to her, but she's actually quite tolerant)
He just has to grow up some because there's a baby on the way, and he wants to step up and be the responsible dad (and possibly husband), The changes he makes come from within, and are consistent with his character and situation. - venir, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6I've seen quite a few really hot women with guys that made you cringe. Why do they do it? Probably because the guys who can't usually get really good looking women tend to treat the ones they do get very well. Women aren't always as shallow as you seem to think they are.
- venir, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Dude, read the comments above yours. Everyone is saying the movie was great, and I am one of them. I saw it on Friday and laughed the whole way through. Definitely not for the over 40's crowd.
- fikustree, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5The movie has one of the best representations of women in a comedy that I have seen. Usually they are just portrayed as pretty and stupid or pretty and smart. This had fully realized characters, the older sister part is just so awesome. The women are not always right and the guys aren't stupid idiots, they are more like real people. Well the friends are like real stoners anyway.
The movie also takes place in LA where "beautiful girls" are a lot more prevalent than elsewhere. She normally wouldn't have hooked up with Seth Rogen, but the movie explains why she does and she spends most of the movie being pretty disgusted with him.
It isn't your usual comedy at all. If you have seen Freaks and Geeks you will understand the humor. If you haven't seen Freaks and Geeks put it on your Queue right now. I thought it was a lot funnier than 40 year old virgin which I was disappointed by. - TrojanGuy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I really enjoyed Knocked Up. The author is right that the movie is funny without being patronizing or overly stupid, which is one of the reasons I liked it so much.
- spmyke, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5If you liked Knocked Up, then you might like their next movie, Superbad. It stars the same people, as well as Michael Cera from the Arrested Development TV-series. Here's a link to a trailer:
http://www.spikedhumor.com/articles/109115/Super_Bad_Trailer.html - RocketSeason, on 10/11/2007, -1/+640 year old virgin should have won best screenplay that year. These guys are comedy at its absolute razors-edge finest.
- MatchStick, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6I totally agree, as we were leaving the movie theater and I saw the "knocked up" poster, i realized that under different direction this could have easily just been another ***** romantic comedy.
- Hindermore, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Just because YOU have a crappy personality and can't get a girl, doesn't mean every other guy is the same. True, a lot of attractive women can be shallow, but it's not always the case. Stop bitching.
- sinurgy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6It is pretty damn hilarious and anyone who hasn't seen it yet definitely should head to the theater. The second half of the movie gets a little goofy with the forced drama that supposedly is mimicking real life (real life if you're an emotional idiot) but it's still hilarious nonetheless!!!!!
btw...one of the best characters hands down is Jacks assistant Jill!! - RUGUNIT, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Me and my girlfriend were in the same exact situation, when that came we laughed hard as hell but the rest of the audience was dead quiet...we talked about it after wondering if anyone else actually knew who he was because i thought he was popular enough for the normals...
- spmyke, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Actually, I think the movie's saying that, even though mistakes may happen, taking the easy way out isn't always the best option. Sometimes it's better to struggle through your trials and tribulations so that, in the end, you're a better person.
- empressofmetal, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7"Why don't you go ***** your bong!"
- mjbinon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4The movie involves a pregnancy, so yes, as you might safely assume, there is some vomiting.
- Moskie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4"What was it like changing your name from Cat Stevens to Yusuf Islam?"
- decepticrat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Yeah, I busted out a big *loner* laugh at that one too.
- weijia, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I saw the pre-screen a couple of weeks ago for this. Personally I felt as if this was like a more toned-down and professionally made 40-Year Old Virgin, which is great and fantastic and sort of expected as this is Apatow's second movie. It dragged a little after a while with no plot advance and only character development but sprang right back to life at the end. It's one of those movies that wouldn't be called classic but would make your top ten list for 2007.
- phroztbyt3, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5what I see our genre of "funny" going towards is realistic/awkwards funny. Everything in that movie could be quite honest. Nothing is over the top, nothing is overdone, its just plain funny, with things that could happen. You can see that Will Ferrrel's time is up, and a new age of honesty is among us. And you know what, its about damn time. This stuff is hilarious in a much better way, with actual morals and beliefs. I saw this movie, and right after it, for a bit of time I actually felt like my life problems were small in comparison to what I just witnessed, and in the end, it will all work out.
- wushi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3here in france it will be out in october...
- cogitocogito, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3That's a great scene (though I don't think it's deleted - I remember it from the film).
Here's my favorite deleted scene, and it's VERY NSFW:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=154KVUTpe7A - statslack, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7"Now THAT'S how you get pink eye"
This movie was hilarious - Aidanjalali, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5For once a movie that looks like it'll actually be interesting, and it comes out LATE AUGUST for the UK. GRRR!
Well there was Hot Fuzz I suppose...=) - blondeheroine, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I'm going to see this later this week and am actually looking forward to it. If it was anyone else directing/starring in the movie, I would definitely NOT be looking forward to it. Leave it to Judd Apatow to take a cliche situation and make it funny as hell. :)
- decepticrat, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3OMG, I used a ' by mistake. It is you're gob too must shooted me nowe.
And seriously, were you really confused by the hyphenation? If so, I feel very sorry for you.
Die in the a fire, ghrammar nazi. - iamdaflash, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Maybe after all the hotties see and enjoy this movie they'll start chasing after losers, SCORE! Just remember to use protection.
