"Using mall surveillance images captured by signal sniffer devices, the kids then create their own movies."
My ass! They didn't "hijack" *****! OBVIOUSLY Mall Security was involved, or they wouldn't be running around an empty mall in the middle of the night, with no fear of consequences jumping off ledges, behind desks, etc, where Security would TOTALLY want to taser somebody pulling that *****. Plus, the mall projected it for it's customers! DUH! RTFA dumbass. Don't trump ***** up to something that it's NOT.
It was kind of a cool concept, but definitely not "Underground". - kenvsryu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+52It'd be better if the mall wasn't empty.
- Tomboys, on 10/10/2007, -9/+50Cool idea but final product is kinda boring.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18Where can i get one of these "signal sniffer devices"?
- herrferret, on 04/03/2008, -2/+15Whoa, slow down!
A: Its the UK, Its called a shopping centre, B: Its the UK, Tasers? Don't make me laugh, C: Why is it as soon as someone wants to do something legal it then becomes 'Not Underground'?
Please go back to tagging on bus shelters, I heard that's ever-so 'Underground' - lordtyros, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11You are not serious.
- h4mx0r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Didn't they use this on TheBrok3n?
- GCarden, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Only in Great Britain, land of the security camera, could this have been made ;)
- Angostura, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9If you actually read the page, you'll see that the kids started out using video sniffing to make movies, but this was by invitation, shot over 3 nights and videoed from the control room. Yes, not very underground.
- Fragowell, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Well I ended up watching the whole video on the site, andI must say it's a really cool piece of work/art (work of art?). Very impressive, both as a film and what the guys in it were doing. That's such a cool...passtime...or whatever it is.

- omgroffles, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8ya, except Jackass is a show built on the premise of doing stupid stuff to say "look at me! i'm hurting myself for your entertainment!"
parkour is about grace, acrobatics, skill, precision, you name it.
it's not just a sport, it's a way of life that says "there's no such thing as obstacles to stop you, just a bunch of stuff you can use to help you" - joach, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5To what age are you considered a kid these days!?
- MarkOfTheDead, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Whiny Bitches.
- djrbx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5FTA: "The movie was projected on a big plasma screen inside the Manchester Arndale Shopping Centre where an average of 6000 people shop every day. On the second day, they had to take the movie off, some people were not too happy at the idea that performers were messing up with a space meant for shopping activities."
- Nereus90, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4The unibomber wore sunglasses, therefore Unibomber = cool.
- dernynjunk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I think she was sarcastic. Otherwise she's made the most ironic statement of the day.
- pault107, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5No tasers in the UK?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6660283.stm - BOFH139, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5The "Hijacking" is just a standard 2.4Ghz Video Receiver connected to the inputs on the Cam, and the "Hijacking" from the source is somebody disconnecting the BNC connect from the camera and connecting one goto to the Video-recorder (which will certainly get you in trouble it not arrested)
- waronflesh, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4CCTV = Closed Circuit TeleVision
If they are broadcasting unencrypted wireless, then it is not closed circuit. Most people put up with being on surveillance cameras because they know that only the security guards see them. I hope this gets people talking about the issue of privacy more. I'd like to see them all taken down.... but that's not going to happen. - igutekunst, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Kids? NO!
Hijack? NO!
Parkour? .. Barely!
Lame *****? YES! - InstantRamen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3At least the title did not say hack
- MarkOfTheDead, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Proving once again that the general public can and always will bitch about something they don't understand.
- Myonosken, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3To be fair, it is a shopping centre. I expect the amount of CCTV will be similar in most countries.
But yes your point stands. - Bigg3h, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I'll agree in so much that they idea is better then the final product. I'm not asking for my 5 minutes back so all in all good stuff. This makes me want to watch the opening scene from Casino Royal again.
- djrbx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2RTFA!! It clearly states at the end of the article they had the malls permission. The mall even had it played using a "big plasma screen"
FTA: "The movie was projected on a big plasma screen inside the Manchester Arndale Shopping Centre where an average of 6000 people shop every day. On the second day, they had to take the movie off, some people were not too happy at the idea that performers were messing up with a space meant for shopping activities." - Fragowell, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Don't be absurd. Underground has taken on to mean a lot more than that, and you know it. Or should I be more careful next time I go see the next coolest "underground" band?
- Myonosken, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2a) We're discussing a non-US topic, please refrain from using butt. K, thx.
b) As has been said, freedom of information means, even if they lacked the shopping centre's permission, they have a right to use it.
c) Yeah, sueing aint that big here. - Tomboys, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I love your logic. It's equivalent to the person who tells a joke and when you don't laugh they accuse you of not having a sense of humor.
- meth0d, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3actually this is creative stuff, good job guys
- syuusuke, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2its not a dead link u lazy bum.. http://www.gearbox.mediashed.org/?section=tutorial ...
- daaain, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2speaking of wireless cctv cams, you might reconsider this :)
- richardiscool, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=96OljGZapv4
- Tomboys, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5Yeah... that's probally why it's kinda boring.
- caffeineboy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Buried for ripping off "Tapeheads": http://imdb.com/title/tt0096223/
- fotoman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I really like how mall security cameras pan and zoom to follow the 'performers' :)
I'm with bigt8dogg on this one, kinda cool, but nowhere near what the title described it as. - mrurc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Wrong. Check wikipedia.
- jbird123, on 11/15/2007, -1/+2nothing particularly great in the vid, i mean nothing most people cant do (or at least i nothing i cant :P accept for one or two of the kinda break dancing things), not the best parkour, and definitely not what i was expecting (CCTV hacked?)
Still cool though. Dugg :) - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+5This is great! Culture jamming at its finest.
- 3vno, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1great idea!!! Were are the guards tho?
- Meccabilly, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Dug down for the blatant spam. Anyway, you are indeed allowed any CCTV footage that you habe appeared on., tho this looks as if it was made in co-operation with the 'mall'.
- picsectionpleez, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3dead link
- FreakTrap, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1two seconds of thought + your website URL = CHEAP SEO!
- bedouin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I don't know if they actually ripped off the above-mentioned film, but I'm digging your comment for making me aware of its existence. Looks interesting.
- robdavy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Actually, here in Canada, decent CCTV systems in Malls are relatively few and far between. Many Malls have no cameras at all, some only have fixed ones on entrances and just a few have full blown pan-tilt systems with operators. Unlike the UK where every shopping centre has had cameras for years.
- chubs512, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1....is this a joke? Whats 'Close Circuit TeleVision'? The circuits are close together?
- mrurc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yes! They breached their own privacy and need to be stopped! Sigh.
- bib4tuna, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2parkour is worse than krump dancing. these people should learn piano or something.
