- dweeb79, on 07/18/2008, -1/+29Best superhero movie ever? Without a doubt; Yes
Is this film a happy film? Not even close
Does Heath Ledger deserve an Oscar? He is far more terrifying than Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs. Yes he does.
Does this film pay homage to 1989 Batman? Homage is paid everywhere.
If anyone finds that pen; please let me know ;) - solesoul, on 07/18/2008, -0/+24I had to be convinced to go to the midnight showing, mainly because I heard about the long runtime and didnt want to be tired throughout the movie.
How the ***** could anybody be tired through THAT movie? - gcnaddict, on 07/18/2008, -0/+18I saw this movie during a midnight showing I booked two weeks in advance. After having seen it, there's only one pair of words able to describe how good it is:
Holy *****. - jenel, on 07/18/2008, -1/+12***** IT, HE'LL DO IT LIVE!
- ChairShot83, on 07/18/2008, -0/+9It was a pencil. (2nd viewing). I could have sworn that it was a pen too, lol.
Those damn group therapy sessions... - inactive, on 07/18/2008, -0/+9IT WAS AMAZING
- psbpv3o, on 07/18/2008, -0/+8Dark Knight was just...too much.
Nolan, anyone, won't be able to top this movie.. Just ***** brilliant. - jamez, on 07/18/2008, -4/+12I cant wait to hear his take on it.
Go listen to SModcast. Now. - Teanuh, on 07/18/2008, -0/+8My friend and I had the silly thought that Heath's death could have just been a really sick, immoral, (but effective) marketing campaign, and that after opening weekend he would come out of nowhere saying "SIKE!"
Certainly wish that was true, after watching his performance last night, it is a damn shame we won't be seeing him in any more movies. - cawpin, on 07/18/2008, -2/+10Clerks 2 wasn't as good as the original but it was far from awful.
- StandardsDT, on 07/18/2008, -0/+8I think you mean Pencil :)
- keithnoir, on 07/18/2008, -1/+8"Without giving anything away, this is an epic film (and trust me: based on the sheer size and scope of the visuals and storytelling, that's not an overstatement). It's the "Godfather II" of comic book films and three times more earnest than "Batman Begins" (and *****, was that an earnest film). Easily the most adult comic book film ever made. Heath Ledger didn't so much give a performance as he disappeared completely into the role; I know I'm not the first to suggest this, but he'll likely get at least an Oscar nod (if not the win) for Best Supporting Actor. ***** flick's nearly three hours long and only leaves you wanting more (in a great way). I can't imagine anyone being disappointed by it. Nolan and crew have created something close to a masterpiece." - Keith Smith [From his myspace blog]
- alperea, on 07/18/2008, -0/+6I need to see the movie first.
- notoneofus, on 07/18/2008, -0/+6Here's a staggeringly new idea: don't read threads you don't care about.
- notoneofus, on 07/18/2008, -1/+7Googling Kevin Smith would have taken half as much time as posting your comment.
- scratched, on 07/18/2008, -1/+7Because he's an entertaining person.
Seriously, listen to him in interviews or watch "An Evening with Kevin Smith" (tons of clips of it are on YouTube, you don't have to buy, rent, or download it)
He's a funny guy, and what he has to say about things is usually really interesting. - StrangeFamous, on 07/18/2008, -0/+6Seconded. SModcast is awesome.
- jkr801, on 07/18/2008, -2/+7I hate you
- Peck3277, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5@fosibodu, reply, actually.
- tripledjr, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5You might have to extract it from a skull...
- bylarke, on 07/18/2008, -2/+6Whats the problem with Oscar talk. I must say that i have never been a huge Heath Ledger fan. But he made this movie, and not because he died. I mean hell if Titanic can win an Oscar why can't Heath. I was a skeptic going into this movie. But he blows the face paint off of Jacks performance of the joker, anyone who can put forth a better portrayal then him is at least worthy of some Oscar buzz.
- dafragsta, on 07/18/2008, -0/+4You just wanted to get buried didn't you? The internet loves Kevin Smith.
/what the ***** is the internet? - Tykin3, on 07/18/2008, -0/+4On Monday night? Well, at least that insures that the entire nerd audience will have seen it by then.
....I saw it at midnight last night.
....It was amazing. - trademork, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3Reviews of The Dark Night I care about, in order of importance:
1. Everyone in the world except Kevin Smith
2. Kevin Smith - KMartSheriff, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3I'm sure I'll get buried for this but I don't understand the following behind Kevin Smith. I mean he's done Clerks, that's about it. What makes him so great?
- pentupentropy, on 07/18/2008, -1/+4Where's Kevin Smith reviewing Vulgar?
- Peck3277, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3Why how many movies have you made that cost more than a few thousand dollars?
- marx2k, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3People digging me down don't want to let the legend of Kevin Smith die... but seriously...everything he's come out with as of late has been awful.
- erad222, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're retarded.
- freakgd, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2You sir don't know ***** about movies.
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -5/+7"He is far more terrifying than Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs."
He was great, but no, he is not far more terrifying than Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs, but this is only an opinion from someone that is not biased like 99% of Diggers that suddenly worship Heath Ledger from out of nowhere.
And please, enough with the Oscar talk... - freakgd, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2You sir banido know something about movies.
- Jaymoon, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2Why would anyone want to hear a review of a movie from Kevin Smith that they've already seen (multiple times probably)?
Is anyone really going to be on the fence about seeing the movie, hear Kevin Smith's review, and base their decision on that? - Peck3277, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2Most dugg in last 30 days Apple.
Nerd
Sincerely,
Comic book nerd. - zornedge, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2Exactly... Kevin Smith Who? He may do a review and do the public service a good favor, but in the end, he's is a someone that I doubt I would even care to know.
- Socratores, on 07/18/2008, -3/+5Kevin Smith....who cares???
- petebot, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1Gee, I wonder if he'll like it. Come on!
I bet the review consists of him spanking it while watching the movie.
PS. Mallrats is my fave kevin smith movie. - WallnutBoy, on 07/18/2008, -2/+3uh.. Boo boo kitty *****?
- IMDPanda, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1Yes, it was an amazing film and could be hard to top, but who knows? He could have room for aggressive expansion.
- antiz3r0, on 07/18/2008, -1/+2Hands down The Dark Knight was THE BEST movie. Heath as the Joker was... GOD LIKE! They will never be able to top that movie ever! It was a work of pure genius!
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -1/+2I agree his performance was great, but I do not agree with the Oscar talk because everyone has long been talking about that just by watching the trailers...the TRAILERS... come on it's pretty obvious people are letting their feelings(because of his death) cloud their judgement, and because it's their favourite comic.
Maybe he deserves an Oscar nomination, who knows, but I'll let the Academy decide that, we just cant force it, I mean it's just like if in the 80's Mark Hamill died after Star Wars and everyone started demanding an Oscar for him because everyone liked him (at least back then) and he was in everyone's favourite movie.
As for Batman, it's very rare (maybe it never happened) for superhero movies to get Oscar nominations in acting categories. - Peck3277, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1So your just a "titwad" then?
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -3/+4I was at Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash last week, and bought me up some Green Arrow #1 :)
Walt Flannigan! - deadlikeoscar, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1Well, there is still The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus to look forward to.
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -6/+7buried, why should I care
- dougerdo, on 07/18/2008, -6/+7Kevin Smith rules. Man wake up. He is trully becoming a better director. He is also an active comic book reader.
- keithnoir, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1He is a director so he knows what it takes to make a film...
He's also an avid comic book lover, and the perfect person to review a film like this. - duddy, on 07/19/2008, -1/+1No, most Dugg in 30 days being Linux is nerdy.
Apple means I'm an iPhone geek. - 1ofMany, on 07/18/2008, -2/+2Kevin smith reads comics, big deal-- so do thousands of other people whose opinions I'd actually respect. Let's compare The Dark Knight to Mallrats, then tell me why I should care what Kevin Smith thinks.
