- inactive, on 08/23/2008, -1/+43The youtube video of IFC show "Dinner For Five", with Jason Lee, Stan Lee, Mark Hamill and JJ Abrams and of course Kevin Smith was awesome. It was very captivating and enjoyable. All these guys knew what they were talking about and weren't goofing around. The video was long but worth watching.
Good Find :). - Nathrat, on 08/23/2008, -8/+46This is actually the first Star Trek movie I've ever wanted to see.

Not that I have anything against those films but Kevin Smith's reviews I take with a grain of salt. - hauntedchippy, on 08/23/2008, -0/+29KHAAAAN!

- cadmiumpaint, on 08/23/2008, -8/+31I've always been a fan of Star Trek. I'm not a convention going type, but I watch every series (except Enterprise) and all the movies. I like the Star Trek universe alot, but they're really turning me off to it now. I really hate this stupid fetish Paramount has for turning back the clock on the Star Trek franchise and insisting on making prequels. Part of the appeal of Star Trek for me is the new technology and new alien races. Moving forward. Isn't that the whole point of it....to explore? Look for new life and new civilizations. I don't care about finding out the explanation of how the Klingons got the ridges on their foreheads and how Kirk was a frat boy at the academy. I care about new characters, new exploration. New adventures.
Enterprise was the first ST series I didn't watch regularly, and this movie will prob be the first ST movie that I'll pass on seeing. Thanks for killing the franchise. - chrisinsocalif, on 08/23/2008, -2/+24Jersey Girl.

http://www.kevinandbeanarchive.com/audio.php?dir=a ... - inactive, on 08/23/2008, -0/+8It's not a reboot, because Nimoy is in it.
It's a prequel.. probably leading to a continuation of TOS, with different actors. This is why they went to the trouble of finding actors who were physically like the originals. Pegg, who is playing Scotty, basically says he's playing it the same as Doohan, which tells you all you need to know. The ship is the same, thus I assume so will be the sets, the costumes are the same, so not a reboot.
If it was a reboot, there would be no requirement to remain faithful to continuity, which this apparently is doing. Although I have questions about the Romulan enemy, Nero, because in TOS continuity they didn't know what the Romulans looked like until much later (shocking them that they resembled Vulcans) unless for some reason there is no physical confrontation between enemy and protagonists, which would be weird and hard to pull off. - WhoDoneIt, on 08/23/2008, -1/+10Directing a few episodes of Degrassi Junior High. It would be nice if they could tie it into TOS somehow, extending the original storyline or something like that. - norbiu, on 08/23/2008, -2/+8GTFO!
- Bloodwine, on 08/23/2008, -0/+6I've been watching Enterprise ever since Sci-Fi network has been airing the reruns.
I must say, I really like it. I place it ahead of Voyager and even DS9. The time-travel stuff got a little silly, but it was fun seeing them explore things for the first time with unproven tech and severe limitations.
All the post-TNG series (timeframe-wise) just felt kinda meh. - kellybp1, on 08/23/2008, -5/+13You are going to bury me man.

- Splicernyc, on 08/23/2008, -8/+14Kevin Smith is still allowed to have an opinion? I don't know what's more annoying, that Smith keeps making the same movie over and over again or that he keeps writing geeky scripts that go nowhere.
- mychaleg, on 08/23/2008, -2/+6man...Kevin has some serious clout these days. he got to see a cut of Watchmen already as well.
- Br3ach, on 08/23/2008, -2/+4Yeah, overall I think Smith has a pretty good eye for good films, though sometimes he doesnt really explain what specifically makes him see the goodness in something the rest of us seem to hate (ie Daredevil).
ROTS certainly had some hammy scenes and little to no chemistry between Anakin and Padme, but overall a longshot over the first two. - algaeturd, on 08/23/2008, -5/+8Could I NEVER see a picture of Kevin Smith peering questionably over the top rims of his glasses ever again? Thanks.
