  • falstaff, on 06/30/2009, -0/+9I don't have a good pun, so this may well get buried, but I'd just like to say that having just rewatched ST2 for the first time in ages, the similarities between Khan and Abram's reboot run deep.

    A long-lost character returns to take revenge on a main Starfleet character. A largely rookie crew. The major plot point of how Kirk deals with a seemingly no-win situation mimicking the Kobayashi Maru situation that appears at the beginning of both....

    One could argue that it JUST WAS remade. The themes are mostly the same already. Rehashing it again just to get a specific character involved would be a very, very bad idea.

Besides, it takes place way after the five year mission when Kirk is an Admiral. If anything it'll be a movie about when they first meet, but even that takes place during the 5 year mission.
