- kuj007, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30wow this got me thinking... I can only dream that it turns out as good as this:

Of course I was 9... so maybe it wasn't *quite* as cool as I remember it :) - kuj007, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Meanwhile back at the Hall of Justice...
ok I admit it, I'm geeked - combustion8, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17"Warner Bros. is aiming to make comic-book geeks around the world pee their pants."
I actually pooped a little. - mattxb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Does anybody else think this could end up being one of the corniest movies ever made?

Best. Link. Ever.
Thanks man, you made my day. - Bahimiron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8The assumption is that characters like the Flash, Martian Manhunter and Green Lantern aren't quite famous enough to get a movie of their own off the ground.
Making a JLA movie which would team them with better known, established movie franchise characters such as Batman and Superman is the best way to get them wide exposure.
That way, once we have people knowing who these characters are, it would be possible to then do movies based on them without the backup support of the rest of the JLA.
A good example of this would be the X-Men movies leading to a Wolverine-only film. Without the success of the X-Men franchise, we'd never see a Wolverine or Magneto solo movie. - Kii666, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Pssh, Supergirl..Give me Power Girl
- pabloD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Sorry, man, but X3 was craaaaap. Compared to the first two films, which were full of nuance and true respect for the comic continuity, X3 is nothing but one long eye candy session. The ending to second X-movie (which is basically a re-telling of the classic 'God Loves, Man Kills' one-shot from back in the day) set up the franchise to move into the Dark Phoenix Saga and classic X-Men stories of the same caliber. Unfortunately, Singer was wooed away to direct Superman Returns, and the X-franchise was left in the hands of the craptacular Brett Ratner. "I'm the Juggernaut, bitch"? Come on...

VERTIGO
DC has the best characters in all of comic book history.
I.E. Sandman, Death, John Constantine (The comic book one kicks far more ass than the stupid movie one), V (V for Vendetta), Tom McKenna/Joey, Bigby, Lucifer, Swamp Thing, Batman... the list goes on - ArchonSG, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Don't know about you guys but I got that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach.
I mean I love JLA, but there's just so many things that can go fracking wrong, like casting for example. We already got a good pair in Batman and Superman, but both wonderwoman and Hawkgirl, things can just go really bad.
Can't think of anyone who'd fit that bill and not make both women look cheezy or just boobs on in a custume (which isn't all that bad but...) which just goes against my fonder memories of JLA.
Anyways, here's to hoping they don't frack it up too much. Xmen's already mangled, wolverine's probably the only character in the Xmen movies that stayed true to the original at least in essense. - rudy23, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9seconded for batman.
kristin kreuk should play supermans love interest. smallville dude can star as a pizza boy. - royalwcheese, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Dark Night Returns, Batman: Year One or maybe some Sandman... or anything Vertigo. DC was cool in the 80's.
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7@ archon - Who gives a ***** about HAWKGIRL anyways? They could go ahead and not even include her and no one would notice.
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6They should wait for the sequels end their runs first before a JLA movie... Also, make individual movies about the other characters first...
- screwbydoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5OMG that was quite possibly the funniest/most disturbing thing I've seen in a long time...
Actually the Supervillains didn't look totally awful...
LOL Green Lantern shooting himself in the face. - flashboy131, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5wonder if they'll do that "whassup" bit.
- nathanwalker, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9They need the guy from the new Superman movie to play the Man of Steel again, too.
... just as long as the guy from Smallville doesn't play him. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5It's SuperGIRL....geez.
- markperia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Read The Dark Knight Returns or The Dark Knight Strikes Back or Kingdom Come. You'll see how powerless Superman can be (not just against kryptonite).
- Platypus3333, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3They should get Bruce Timm and Paul Dini to work on this. They've consistently told some of the best superhero stories ever; I daresay Mask of the Phantasm and Return of the Joker, as well as the Justice League and Batman animated series, have generally topped all of the live action films.
- pixelate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@ thenik... for fans of the Justice League cartoon (another of Bruce Timm's masterpieces), Hawkgirl is key. Personally I don't want to see her in a live action movie though.
- Jagman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5(Aquaman)
But I have great powers. Really!! I'm... useful... *sob*
(/Aquaman) - coyo7e, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wonder Twin Powers, Activate!!
- tanameyer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Although only Warner Brothers can release DC Comics property, they can also prevent their stuff from being used. Fans of the animated Justice League Unlimited may have noticed that no Batman villains appeared in Justice League Unlimited. The reason: Warner Brothers blocked the usage of all Batman villains because of the new Batman movies coming out (Batman Begins and its sequels).
Also, when the WB Television Network announced a live action Aquaman television series, Aquaman could no longer be used in Justice League Unlimited. They even had to rewrite the episode "Chaos At The Earth's Core". (The original story took place in Atlantis and starred Aquaman). Hell, the character in that episode is just a palette-swapped Aquaman with white hair instead of blonde. - pabloD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2you have a really cool girlfriend, man.
- RalphDibny, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yea you're right DC sucks if you really wanna read some comix look no further than the advertisment riddled Marvel books that move at a snails pace (civil war anyone?).
Okay Superman is a little lame and campy sometimes but doesn't a super-badass like batman need someone like superman to keep him in check? Learn to deal with supes, go back and read some of the Crisis series (infinite earths, identidy crisis, coundown to IF and infinite crisis, hell read 52 as well) and then comeback and try and tell us you think the DCU sucks. I mean who wouldn't dig on some string theory + superheroes action? - SuperCUBE, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5As long as Christian Bale still plays Batman, I'm satisfied. Roll 'em.
- VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I told my girlfriend about this and this was her response:
"I think each of those characters either has an established franchise or a potential one. Every character that isn't Superman or Batman or doesn't have their own individual movie by then will get kind of shafted because their story will be put on the back burner.
The cool thing about the Justice League was that it was established heroes coming together to handle things they couldn't on their own. If you haven't heard of most of the characters, that angle has to change and it's just going to be "Superman and Batman And Some Other Guys".
I'm sure there's a way to do it, like when they had the Flash guest on the Superman animated series... They just presented him as an established hero and didn't bother with a back story. They figured if you were watching, you knew who he was and if you didn't, well no matter, he's just another hero who's faster than Superman. But then I don't know if these guys are as smart as the Paul Dini team of writers.
We'll see I guess." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is not good. Batman Begins was an outstanding "reboot" of the Batman movie series. Superman Returns was a pretty decent comeback, too. A Justice League movie is going to be pretty bad, and it's going to hurt both the Batman and Superman series, even (maybe especially) if the casting is different.
- KyleRayner, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3"i thought she must have grown up by now . . . "
The current Supergirl looks like she's about 16. o.O - g30ph, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Most of the DC comics are corny to begin with. Some of them have been transformed like Batman, but is there any hope for Aquaman and Wonderwoman?
- HeatVision, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Warner Bros., who owns DC comics, released both Batman Begins and Superman Returns.
- slickrick2k1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Superman would freeze Hulk in his tracks. No contest.
Batman has consistently dominated Superman throughout comic book history. No reason why he wouldn't pwn hulk as well. - slickrick2k1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah that movie was terrible!!!
Oh wait it hasn't come out yet. - teresa73521, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Vinnie Chase = Aquaman
- enronias, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2With this movie and how the concept has been done in the past, not to mention the characters involved, I can't imagine this not being a corny flop of a super hero *****
- Sevenfeet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't envy the writers. Writing comic book movies is hard and team up movies are even worse. The biggest problem is how to handle a myriad of characters who all need screen time. The X-men series did this pretty well, but even Halle Berry was quoted as chafing under the fact that she was never the central focus of any of the three films. At least Christian Bale and Brandon Routh are just coming into their own as accomplished well known actors. Wonder Woman hasn't even been cast yet for her own film, much less a project like this. On a personal note, I wouldn't mind seeing Michael Rosenbaum cast as the Flash. He played the Flash on Justice League/Justice League Unlimited (the animated series) extremely well and he's proven to be a great face actor as Lex Luthor on "Smallville".
Casting villains will be a problem too. No JLA movie would be complete without Lex Luthor which means you'd have to pay Kevin Spacey's fee. You'd likely have to Heath Ledger as the Joker since he's scheduled to play him in the second Batman movie, assuming they don't kill him off like in the 1989 'Batman'. You'd probably need Grodd, so that would be CGI (Powers Booth could reprise the voice from Justice League) and another villain of two to round out the lineup.
The toughest part would be "why"? Specifically, why would all these villains get together to do anything without slitting each others' throats? In X-Men, there was a race war plotline which makes a lot of sense in the modern world. DC Comics could do a movie version of the Project Cadmus angle which would pit the JLA against the US Government, not necessarily Lex Luthor and the "Legion of Doom". - Tanpreet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2only Warner Bros can release DC Comics based movies since DC is their company
- hifiDesign, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This sucks. It will undo the progress made with Sin City, Batman Begins, and Superman Returns. Horrible idea... And to quote a fellow digger whose name I cannot recall... With regard to Transformers "Michael Bay has raped my childhood." Hollywood needs to tread lightly with the superhero movies.
- 15thPD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, dude. Are you forgetting that Hulk was able to defeat Thor by wearing him down in battle? Hulk gets stronger with every blow he receives, and no upper limit to his strength has been discovered yet. Superman is but a flea to the Asgardian God Thor, so you do the math. Batman isn't even a flea in this contest, unless he has Kryptonite in his possession, and that's only going to help him with Superman, who is the weaker of the 3 I just mentioned.
Still, comparing Batman to heroes such as Superman and Thor is like comparing apples and oranges. They're all great heroes, and they employ different means of defeating their opponents. - NeptuneSunset, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I can't help but be cynical here. I'm a comic geek like any other but ensemble cast superhero movies just have not worked with the exception of X-MEN (and even the later movies in that series were questionable). Solo hero films have been... slightly more successful. I completely hope they prove me wrong.
- tlm2021, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This movie is a bad idea. It's possible to do this movie well, but given how most comic book movies are handled, I don't think bringing all these characters together could be done in a way that isn't completely cheesy. Batman Begins was awesome, but only because it was gritty and more realistic then most comic book movies. That's not possible with all these characters together. It works in a comic, not on film.
- RalphDibny, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hahaha! oh wait, you're serious?
- 15thPD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1If you think Spider-man or Wolverine could even survive one punch from the Hulk, you're crazy. Hulk could battle Superman to a standstill.
- mariowario, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1As long as it is made with some sense of being serious like Batman Begins then it could turn out to be good. If it's all about having a party with the greatest of all superheros together, then it's gonna end up being very corny. But i agree with g30ph, some characters like flash who utilize the funny one-line jokes...i'm scared the script writers will make his lines really really corny.
- VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Heh, thanks. She's a comic book artist in her spare time. I just wish she was remotely interested in video games. Can't win 'em all.
- 15thPD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I wish the submitter would have put "live action" in the description. I thought we were going to see a full-length Justice League Unlimited movie. I got all excited for nothing. Not a fan of live action movies based on comic books.
- RalphDibny, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1anyone seen my wife? she's currently made of half-charred wicker and is wearing my wedding ring and a terrible purple suit with matching hat. If you see her, respond to me or that creepy talking gold helmet thats i've been rolling with as of late... -geekiedy geek geek geeked-
