- fibreoptix, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22Conan never hosted the oscars, I think it was the Emmys your thinking about.
- openthink, on 10/10/2007, -5/+24really interesting. a lot of hollywood types were disappointed in his performance, felt he was out of his element, uncomfortable, etc. thinking was it was going to be a 1-shot deal. i think because of his increasing popularity on tv and world of pop culture, hollywood establishment decided he could be best to give them cred, buzz, etc....
- coloneltcb, on 10/10/2007, -6/+23Jon Stewart is cool, but I wish Conan would do it again.
- Shorties, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Agreed, I have actually found myself watching Colbert less and less. I don't know if its because his character got old or if they have just been making him more obnoxious but I find Jon Stewart's show a much better show (And Jon is really starting to cover alot of stuff that MSM ignores). I actually liked it the last time Jon hosted the Oscars so I will be looking forward to it this year.
- vat0r, on 10/10/2007, -4/+15Does'nt matter who's President because we're screwed either way. Presidents are pawns in a much larger game.
- ElRayQuieres, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13Jon.. it was even in the title.
- Azimuth1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Gil Cates? Is that the chairman of Microsoft in an alternate dimension or something?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Yes, it was the Emmys, but it was great. Check out the intro to it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1q_8QQO70Q
We need Conan for the Oscars! - darkdantae, on 10/10/2007, -8/+16Sure I will get dugg down for this, but you are dead wrong. Colbert is a one-dimensional character on his show. Which was fine when he was on the Daily Show, but not to host his own show. He is nothing in terms of comedy to Jon Stewart, who has had some of the funniest stand-up comedy I have seen. He also has an ability like Conan (though not nearly as good) to turn anything into a joke and has impeccable timing.
My uncle for some reason presumed I was a republican when I said I didn't like the Colbert show, I was never so insulted, not because my political views, but because he thought I cared more about politics then comedy, which is certainly not true. Bottom line Lewis Black and Colbert are so one dimensional they cannot be funny over a sustained period of time, that is why they belong as correspondents not on their own shows or comedy hours. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -7/+14Couldn't have picked someone better. When is he becoming president by the way? The White House needs quick witted, smart people like him. Right now it's the complete opposite.
Stewart & Colbert for 2012. - worldsbestgamer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8He tends to badger guests. You really think they would want that?
- DoTheFandango, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6A Stewart/Colbert tag team would be amazing.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7oh come on, it's too early for tin foil hats...
- thax, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I have to agree with openthink, even though there was mixed reviews about Stewart's performance it definitely generated a lot of buzz.
- wozley, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5You're absolutely right! It's a damn shame!
Now let's see . . . alt-tab back to WoW. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5What?
- fantasticFlan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5If elected, would we get Colbert the person or Colbert the character?
- kidcodea, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5we call it aerodynamic.
im not a jew btw ;) - flag546, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Papa Bear!
- odecom5, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7As long as he leaves Britney alone, i'll be fine with it.
- blorc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I'm not saying Stewart is bad, and I understand what you're saying about Stewart's dynamic comedic abilities; however, I still disagree. I think Colbert could pull it off. While Colbert does play a rather one dimensional character, I've seen him pull off some pretty decent on-the-fly jokes during certain segments. He had some good moments just last night when they showed the video of him walking around talking to people like Pelosi, trying to get his cast signed.
Anyway, we'll just agree to disagree. Stewart is great, I just think I would rather see Colbert. However, I think we both agree on Conan. I would take Conan over both of them. - MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -0/+4Jon was pretty good last time, but he wasn't amazing. I think this time he'll really step things up and it'll be great. I know he knows his hosting wasn't that brilliant last time because he's mentioned it on the Daily Show before.
I agree, Colbert would be great, and I can see him being potentially even better than Stewart. - kamikazebirds, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Way to misspell Reagan.
- omaryak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!!!!!111
- kurocrow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I'm not a big fan of the Oscars... but I'll tune in just to see Jon make the actors squirm in their seats again.
- dawgma, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Doesn't matter. It obviously doesn't take someone who is very smart to be president. A nice guy would do.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5There's going to be another Oscars? Why?
- fluidfoundation, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I've said it before and I'll say it again:
http://www.digg.com/movies/BREAKING_Sarah_Silverman_is_NOT_funny - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Why are you commenting if it's not relevant? Bit ironic, don't you think?
News you don't like is still relevant.Your post sucked in every direction - Swift2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Bill's a joke!!!! tada!
- d1337, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3wow. Digg is the reason America will never be as great as during the Reagan administration.
- JezusGhoti, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3"but just end up choosing paper over plastic at the grocery store and pasting your little red 'support the troops' ribbons all over your soccer mom mini vans."
Huh? - roberto_deneero, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6He's the only one who can actually host an awards show and not put people to sleep. Imagine that, an entertainer who actually entertains. Hollywood is WAY behind on talent these days. Steve Jobs should host the awards show and introduce a new Apple product between awards! Steve is god.
- fluidfoundation, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Diggcommentitosis: When you comment so much on so many articles you begin to get confused.
- tdogg241, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Also, aren't the "support the troops" ribbons typically yellow? Red is for AIDS.
At any rate, that "left wing environmental wacko" is much funnier than you'd like your posts to be. - wozley, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2And sexy!
- wozley, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2City Slickers = Pure Class
Now suck the snake poison out my ass cheek, please. - Khuffie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2That movie was marketed horribly. It has absolutely nothing to do with Robin Williams becoming a wacko comedic president, but more about elections and malfunctioning electronic voting systems.
- kidcodea, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2yeah billy means class, we understand the fear
- soupir, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2"When everlast awoke, there was syrup on his lips and the cold feeling that he was in the wrong story commenting again."
- eean, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3This is great. Stewart went on for like a week making jokes about how terrible he did. And now they want him back, they must be damn desperate.
- fantasticFlan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yellow
- eean, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Colberts character wouldn't be invited (he hates Hollywood) so it would be a bit weird.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That's funny--never happen, though.
- Swift2, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I thought, for the record, that the Daily Show on September 11th, dissecting the sham of the Petraeus Report, was the most brilliant thing I've seen in a long while, and it was so obvious. The meatheads who are our pundits and "real journalists" couldn't see what a few comic writers found completely obvious. Watch it before you yell at me, right wingers. What? A political general? Who'd-a thunk it?
That said, I thought last year's host, Ellen de Generes, was just fine. Funny but not political. The Oscars are not cutting-edge political humor. It's not clear why they keep going after the cutting-edge comedians like Stewart and Rock. They're a wrong fit. - wozley, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That's actually a good idea.
- Swift2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Gee, I suspect a disgruntled right-winger.
- wozley, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Moojah is right! You're all a buncha liberal communist!
Now excuse me, I got a turkey shoot to go to. -
