Joker Plays the Wild Card in Dazzling Dark Knight
blog.wired.com — The summer's last superhero movie is also its best. Kicked off with a head-rattling heist and clown-masked brutality, The Dark Knight thrills as a comic book adaptation for grown-ups. Unlike its well-respected 2005 predecessor, Batman Begins, this sequel is pushed beyond the confines of a well-made action drama by director Christopher Nolan.

- btschul, on 07/18/2008, -0/+6Out of all the reviews, there has been 1 negative one. All the rest say 100% amazing best movie of the ***** year, and the trailers all back up those claims.
- eboskie1, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2From what iv seen it does look like it will live up to the hype. I watched the making of and all the shots are filmed with imax cameras, the best way known to man at this point to capture video. The stunts looked awsome and the director went out of his way not to use cgi (watch for clip of the SEMI doing a full flip all using explosives, very impressive.) Not sure about the acting but from the trailers keeth ledger is a ***** badass to say the least and charecters like commissioner gordon are getting a bigger role. I think the focus of the movie is on 2-face but I havent seen the movie so not sure.
- batmanz, on 07/18/2008, -6/+1I stopped reading after seeing the 'spoilers.' I've waiting six months...I can last four more hours.

- UserNull, on 07/18/2008, -7/+1Seriously, now that people have seen it, ***** across the world are posting boobytrap like spoilers. I'm going to have to do something I've never done...stop using the internet for a whole day. I've waited 3 years for this and I will not have it be ruinied 1 day before I see it.
- seriouslyorange, on 07/18/2008, -6/+0basically... the joker is just a guy playing gta in real life.

- clickwir, on 07/18/2008, -6/+1I don't care how you spin it or cook it.... this is just another form of spam spam spam. Advertising for a movie. There's no 2 ways about it. NO MA`AM.
- reed311, on 07/18/2008, -7/+2Buried as spam.
- PrometheusBorn, on 07/18/2008, -0/+23Just saw the movie.
I expected a lot from it, and Ledger in particular, from what I heard online.
I am in awe on how much both exceeded what I imagined.
Just... wow. - lololol1, on 07/18/2008, -2/+9The movie lived up to the hype.
- reverland, on 07/18/2008, -1/+2I just got back from the movie. I had a great time. I saw it in Imax only because I thought it would be interesting to see the first major motion picture to have portions filmed in Imax. It takes your breath away. The opening scene is in Imax and I wasn't prepared for it and neither were other people in the theater, it made everyone gasp. Everyone was great in this movie, there wasn't a slow spot to be had. Ledger was great as the joker, he's how the Joker was envisioned to be, insane with a touch of humor. I would probably wait a few days or see it in the afternoon though. Some idiots had been waiting in line since 7 in the morning. Everyone got a seat and every seat was good, some people are just retarded.
- zmjone2992, on 07/18/2008, -0/+6It was ***** awesome
- Elliuotatar, on 07/18/2008, -6/+1It's too bad that dumbass OD'd, I woulda liked to have seen him in the next movie, whenever that comes out. He played the Joker in an interesting way.
- kevisazombie, on 07/18/2008, -0/+4you ***** it was an accidental death due to a lethal mixture of sedatives he was taking
- Elliuotatar, on 07/18/2008, -1/+1You're the *****. Why don't you check Wikipedia:
---
After two weeks of intense media speculation about possible causes of his death, on 6 February 2008, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of New York released its conclusions, based on an initial autopsy of January 23, 2008, and a subsequent complete toxicological analysis. The report concludes, in part, "Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine." It also states definitively: "We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications."
---
Just because they're prescription medications doesn't mean you can't abuse them. Anyone who take more than the label says is safe to take is a fool. And this guy had SIX different brands in him.
- Elliuotatar, on 07/18/2008, -1/+1You're the *****. Why don't you check Wikipedia:
- kevisazombie, on 07/18/2008, -0/+4you ***** it was an accidental death due to a lethal mixture of sedatives he was taking

That part... well, you have to see it...- mikeyeah, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1One of my favorite scenes.
- avatarpalin, on 07/19/2008, -0/+1I wonder who the 'Wonderful assistant was'? I should check IMDB..
- jtp51, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2The movie was amazing.
- AndrewDB, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3I got home from it about an hour ago, and I wish my theater was open 24/7 so I could go see it again.
It's so absolutely amazing. - Cyclonic, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5JUST got home from it. 12:05 showing. WOW. I am NOT a huge fan of batman but i like watching the new movies and this was brilliant. Heath did a fantastic job and im not saying that because he is dead but because he really did a great job as Joker. Credit is also due to the director or whoever gave Heath the direction in which to go in for The Joker. Never enjoyed batman so much.
- avatarpalin, on 07/18/2008, -1/+3Seen it and yes Heath was brilliant, absolutely brilliant. That's a pitty based opinion either. He was rather brilliant..
Although that being said I did hope for more from the character Alfred. Although saying that does make me sound a bit like a wining bitch.. - asancho, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2The Dark Knight was amazing! I saw it last night, and it did not disappoint, as a matter of fact, the way they worked in the Joker/Two-Face story line was amazing! Oh, and *quasi-spoiler alert* was i the only one that thought the opening scene was a homage to the movie "Heat"?
- Kinsbane, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3No, I think Nolan and Bale have said that that scene is an homage to it.
- mikeyeah, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1I just saw The Dark Knight at midnight last night. Let me preface by letting everyone know that I'm a huge Batman mark, and use to collect his comics when I was a kid. This movie is a masterpiece, plain and simple. Ledger's performance as the Joker was unnerving, brilliant, hilarious, and does deserve an Oscar (as does the movie).
If you're a fan of Batman, drop what you're doing and go see this movie right now. If you're not a fan of Batman, drop what you're doing and go see this movie now. - gadgetgroupie, on 07/18/2008, -0/+0I was torn between reading the comments/article or skipping it...I'm seeing Dark Knight on Sunday with a friend and don't want to learn about any surprises early! I guess my curiosity won, though, since I'm commenting here. And I don't think I've seen the word "hype" so many times before. That's gotta be a good sign :)
- iggyp, on 07/19/2008, -0/+0If Heath Ledger doesn't receive an Oscar for this performance, the Academy Awards are a joke (pardon the pun). Great movie but made possible by outstanding characterisation by Ledger.
He left us with his best for last
