- RapidEye, on 04/04/2008, -11/+46I loved that movie.
The irony of it is that I suspect Ally Sheedy is probably still available to reprise her role as well; however, she'll need more CGI work than the bot to make her look good! =-)- B3000, on 04/04/2008, -1/+24How is it ironic that Ally Sheedy is still around? Do you even know what irony is?

- BionicPimp, on 04/04/2008, -1/+0Lelaina: I mean, these job interviews, Troy... The word “vivesection” a staggering understatement. I mean, can you define irony?
Troy:: Its when the actual meaning is the complete opposite from the literal meaning.
Lelaina: My God, where were you when I needed you today?

- MWeather, on 04/04/2008, -0/+5That would be ironic, if Ally Sheedy hadn't aged so well. She looks great.

- icemanex, on 04/04/2008, -0/+7NOOOOOOO, they will screw it up, make it pathetic, ffs get some new ideas you morons!!!!
Do we really want to be known as the generation of people that remade every original film because we are too ***** retarded and lacking in creativity to dream up AN ORIGINAL IDEA????- AmusedToDeath, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1Umm, it's not like they're remaking Citizen Kane or something. I mean really, it was a Steve Guttenberg movie. I love the Goot as much as the next guy, but who cares if they remake this?
- p3ngwin, on 04/05/2008, -0/+2it's the practice of unnecessary remakes that sucks, not the individual films that are the symptoms of the behavior.
- HunterKiller, on 04/06/2008, -0/+1Yea Hollywood is out of ideas; that's why they have been turning to movies from pre-80s, as well as movies from overseas ...e.g. The Ring (Japanese), The Lake House (Il Mare, Korean), My Sassy Girl (Korean), The Departed (Infernal Affairs, Hong Kong), The Grudge (Juon, Japanese), The Eye (Hong Kong)...
- AmusedToDeath, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1Umm, it's not like they're remaking Citizen Kane or something. I mean really, it was a Steve Guttenberg movie. I love the Goot as much as the next guy, but who cares if they remake this?
- charlietuna, on 04/04/2008, -0/+5The word irony is dying a slow death.
- B3000, on 04/05/2008, -0/+4I blame Alanis.
- JLaSalvia, on 04/25/2008, -0/+0Wouldn't It be ironic if people started to digg cheap shots?

- queenmoweeny, on 04/04/2008, -16/+4Oh joy... oh rapture!! Johnny 5 is alive!
- cashman57, on 04/04/2008, -16/+4I enjoyed both of the movies and look forward to this one.
Johnny 5 for president!!
LOL - keymanjim2, on 04/04/2008, -9/+107Does Hollywood have ANY new ideas?
- cyberwiz01, on 04/04/2008, -0/+16Do you really need to ask?
- antdude, on 04/04/2008, -0/+3Nope. All new ideas are gone now.
- B3000, on 04/04/2008, -1/+19Sure but idiot audiences routinely reject them in favor of regurgitated pap. Where the audience goes, the studios follow.
- Boognish, on 04/04/2008, -1/+7Enough friggin remakes already!
- KaiUno, on 04/04/2008, -0/+4New ideas are hard to come by. The problem is, they don't wait for the generation that had them last to die out completely. More time is needed, that's all. Maybe we need to tell the producers that we're STILL ALIVE! And that we STILL REMEMBER! Fondly, I might add, thus pissing us off even more.
- blankman, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2Nope, they're just going to systematically rape every classic movie or tv show that was ever successful at some point in time. I've never seen a remake that was better than the original.
- KaiUno, on 04/04/2008, -2/+3You're FRAKKING wrong about that :p
- B3000, on 04/05/2008, -2/+1So, you've never seen John Carpenter's The Thing?
- KaiUno, on 04/04/2008, -2/+3You're FRAKKING wrong about that :p
- AmusedToDeath, on 04/05/2008, -1/+3Hollywood makes 2 kinds of movies now: Big budget audience pleasers (think Pirates of the Caribbean) and lower budget, more experimental fare (think There Will Be Blood). Because the big budget films MUST make lots of money to be successful, they have to find plots, ideas and scripts that appeal to the broadest range of moviegoers possible. One way to do that is to pick a popular older film that has proven audience appeal and remake it. It's just simple economics. It's the same reason why car makers don't redesign their models year after year and McDonalds doesn't reinvent the cheeseburger. Because they already know people like it the way it is, and can essentially guarantee to their investors that it will make money.
- rootneg2, on 04/05/2008, -0/+2The problem is, they don't realize that just slapping new actors and a new set onto the plot has the potential to *completely ruin whatever was there before*.
A movie's audience appeal isn't about just the plot, or the concept, or even the characters; it's about the total package. It's like slapping fiberglass fins on a modern Cadillac and thinking people will love it as much as the originals, just because it has fins.
- rootneg2, on 04/05/2008, -0/+2The problem is, they don't realize that just slapping new actors and a new set onto the plot has the potential to *completely ruin whatever was there before*.

- diggB, on 04/04/2008, -3/+9Bill and Ted, really? Most excellent!
- blahtastic, on 04/04/2008, -0/+6Not most excellent. They're getting a modern remake. Like Alvin and the Chipmunks. Not excellent at all. http://www.moviehole.net/news/20080402_bill_ted_re ...
- diggB, on 04/04/2008, -1/+4Whoa! Crappy remake? Bogus!
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -2/+1Well, it'd be kinda weird to film it like it was still the 80s. They portrayed stereotypical teenagers of the time, so I'd expect a remake to portray stereotypical teenagers in the time it's made.
- coresnake, on 04/04/2008, -1/+1ALLLLLLVIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNN!!!
It always bothered me that it was Alvin and the Chipmunks, like what the ***** was Alvin then, a ***** prarie dog? Couldn't be, he never looked back at the camera dramatically. - threemagic, on 04/04/2008, -0/+3Strange things are afoot at the Circle K, Ted.

- Enfenestrate, on 04/04/2008, -0/+7Hopefully not until they remake that piece of crap Casablanca. That movie had so much potential, but was ruined by the terrible selection of actors. Plus imagine how much better it would be with some sick-ass CGI explosions and robot nazis?
- twinklyJesus, on 04/04/2008, -0/+3Robot nazis are awsome! Thats what made Sky Captain and the world of tomorrow such a success. /sarc
- curiousgrge, on 04/04/2008, -1/+0I'm waiting for them to remake Knight Rider and have a fat ass Hasselhoff show up sitting in a pool of his own vomit. It's going to be ...wait for it... LEGENDARY. Ahhh crap what do you mean they've already done it?
- ByteGuerilla, on 04/04/2008, -0/+3Seconded.
Less remakes, more re-releases. Honestly, what is the problem with re-releasing the original, awesome movie for more people to see, instead of ***** on us all by remaking our beloved classics.- rootneg2, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1Just imagine getting to see the *original* Tron in theater on the big-screen (again for some people...), maybe with some digital retouching. I would certainly go and see it.
Hell, it worked for Star Wars (although, please for the love of god, Greedo better not shoot first this time around...)

- AllYourBase3, on 04/04/2008, -3/+54please no more remakes. I will ***** cry if they remake Back to the Future :(
- LeopardGirl420, on 04/04/2008, -0/+14Don't let them see you just posted that -_- !
- SilentRamble42, on 04/04/2008, -2/+1What you just said is the reason why I'm not excited about them bringing back the DeLorean. You know how car companies love to advertise with movies.
- cawpin, on 04/04/2008, -0/+4They're not "bringing back the DeLorean." They're just rebuilding existing cars and using all of the spare parts left over to make new ones.
- CptnBlackJack, on 04/05/2008, -0/+0Oh please no not that anything but that. What's next Blair Witch 3 the return.

- elegantjihad, on 04/04/2008, -8/+2What's the point? I thought most of the humor in it was the ridiculously 80's idea of technology and none-too-subtle racist stereotyping of the Indian guy. I loved that movie, but I think I love it more now that time has been somewhat cruel to it.
- InvaderDem, on 04/04/2008, -0/+1The indian guy = http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001770/

- LeopardGirl420, on 04/04/2008, -0/+13Also coming to theaters..and I wish I were lying:
remake of The Birds, remake of Friday the 13th, Final Destination 4, The Grudge 3, Jeepers Creepers 3, Night at the Museum2, Pink Panther 2, The Ring 3, Sin City 3, Spiderman 4, Stigmata 2, Terminator 4, The Thomas Crown Affair 2, remake of The Tingler, Transporter 3, remake of Hellraiser, PeeWee Movie, Fraggle Rock movie,- BigLLamasHouse, on 04/04/2008, -0/+10Sin City 3 is coming out before Sin City 2?
- blahtastic, on 04/04/2008, -0/+5Should have listed Sin City 2 as well. Not out for a while yet.
- fantasticFlan, on 04/04/2008, -0/+7To be fair, the Sin City sequels are just more of the preexisting source material.
- centran, on 04/04/2008, -2/+7I'll comment on that. If done properly some of them can be good.
The Birds - no sorry.. they failed with Psycho so they shouldn't get a chance with the birds.
Friday the 13th - it's due... I'll allow it.
Final Destination, The Grudge, Jeepers Creepers, The Ring - dude chill out with the money grab
Pink Panther - for the love of God please try again and do it better this time
Terminator - was against it at first but being post nukes it has potential if well written.
Transporter - only if they state this film will be awesome and was made as an apology for Transporter 2
Hellraiser - only if it is a RESET. The story has been completed but was miss-mashed together so they should reset the franchise.- CptnBlackJack, on 04/05/2008, -0/+0I gotta comment on this,
The Birds - No way not in my lifetime, Somethings should never be remade. It ruins the original.
Friday the 13th - I don't know about that one, I'm still getting over the effects of Freddy vs Jason, I mean I liked it it just didn't end right for me, Shoulda had to endings that way both sides win. And Don't even get me started on Jason X. That was horrible, In fact it was beyond horrible. It was just plain tragic to go and ruin such a great franchise like that. The only way this movie should be made is if they start from the beginning.
Final Destination - No Opinion,
The Grudge - I'm not to sure about this one.
Jeepers Creepers - As much as I enjoyed the first two, I gotta agree just stop before you ruin it.
The Ring - Another one, i only ever saw the first one but come one are they trying to ruin every good movie on the planet or is it just me.
Pink Panther - It's a little early don't cha think.
Terminator - Hmmmm has possibilities, but isn't the governator to busy to make movies. I mean come on no Arnold,No go.
Transporter - No Opinion once again.
Hellraiser - I once again have to agree with you on this one, It only works if they reset it. Don't just remake the same movie Hollywood. Only two thing should remain constant, that's Pinhead and the actor who played him.
- CptnBlackJack, on 04/05/2008, -0/+0I gotta comment on this,
- Enfenestrate, on 04/04/2008, -2/+3I love how there's even sequels to remakes. The little kid in me is secretly excited for a fraggle movie though
- Foenetik, on 04/04/2008, -1/+1Fraggle rock movie actually seems like it could have potential....ya know....if you're into that kinda stuff.
- gambl0r, on 04/04/2008, -0/+3The Dark Crystal 2...
- boombye, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2I have no problem with Sin City 2 or 3 because the stories that will be featured in those were pretty cool, and Thomas Crown Affair 2 sounds cool, as does Christian Bale playing John Connor in post-apocalyptic setting.
- anogenic, on 04/04/2008, -0/+6This is making me feel really old.
- JLaSalvia, on 04/25/2008, -0/+0Then why don't we get some gold-plating to help us feel "ALIVE" (or pretend to rip off some car stereos :) )?
- B3000, on 04/04/2008, -2/+5Please GOD - MAKE IT STOP!!! If one more remake gets announced I'm going to... I'm going to... Well, I don't know what I'll do but it's going to be bad.
- dafragsta, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2Well, I hope you are a man of your word because remakes at this point are inevitable. Hopefully they'll all fail at the box office.
- Monk22, on 04/04/2008, -1/+8i hope everyone in hollywood dies, its been like what 5 years since someone made a movie that wasnt a remake?
- selfobsessed, on 04/04/2008, -0/+8I had a dream last night that Hollywood was burning.
Now I see the reason why. - mattbeetee, on 04/04/2008, -1/+12Now all I need is a remake of Batteries Not Included and I can die a happy man.
- Enfenestrate, on 04/04/2008, -0/+5I still cry like a little bitch at the end of that movie. One of my all-time favorites :)
- KSUdesigner, on 04/04/2008, -0/+8My dumb ass aunt went to the video store when that movie first came out, she came back and said, "well I didn't rent that because I didn't think we had any batteries in the house." No I'm not joking, and she wasn't either.
- dafragsta, on 04/04/2008, -2/+2Does it run in the family?
- dafragsta, on 04/04/2008, -0/+4What's wrong with the original?
- CrimsonBlur, on 04/04/2008, -0/+32How much do you want to bet the robot will be all CG for absolutely no good reason?
- gambl0r, on 04/04/2008, -0/+7Definitely. And this is (one of the reasons) why it will suck :( Johnny 5 was great as an anamatronic/robot... a CG one will never compare!
- JLaSalvia, on 04/25/2008, -0/+0Why does everyone have such a pessimistic view on things they don't know. With Hollywood, the effects get better every day, so why don't we give it a chance to present itself, then comment on the CG vs model.
- protodon, on 04/04/2008, -0/+8I think they could make an even cornier sequel where Johnny 5 (ofcourse he would still be gold for continuity) would pass the torch to some new streamlined high-tech robot that he built. The robot would be named Johnny Jr, or Johnny 6 and would essentially be Johnny 5 in another body because this is how all movies with 20 years between sequels work. A remake would be kind of a waste.
- LucasVB, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2Oh god, no! "Son of Johnny 5"!?
- MScrip, on 04/05/2008, -0/+2Seed of Johnny
- LucasVB, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2Oh god, no! "Son of Johnny 5"!?
- SilentRamble42, on 04/04/2008, -0/+11I said it on the Bill & Ted thing, I'll say it here. This is why we wanted the writer's strike to end?
- ANT1138, on 04/04/2008, -1/+9More input!
- Seventus, on 04/04/2008, -0/+9They need to fire all of the writers and hire new ones if this is the most "creative" thing they can think of. The movie should be left alone. They've created modern attempts at the movie, like that stupid one where the A.I. jet comes to life.
Your mother was a snow blower. -Johnny 5- cubicledrone, on 04/04/2008, -0/+1They didn't hire a writer. Sequels and remakes are made by management committees, which is why they can suck the chrome off a '56 Buick. Management makes sequels because they think by saving the cost of a writer they are being "savvy" and are emphasizing their core competency, which for management means they suck.
- PolishLogic, on 04/04/2008, -0/+15Proof that there is a God!!!

Sure they are going to ***** it up.
Sure I am going to see it.- Darkicewolf, on 04/04/2008, -0/+0"Sure they are going to ***** it up" .. I think there an under lying fault to the logic of that statement... You can't ***** up a ***** up idea ... there an upper limit to how much something can be ***** up. And remaking Short circuit I would say defiantly boards that limit.

- druakara, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2HEY YOU GUUUUUYS!!!!!
- AmusedToDeath, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1No, they're just making a sequel to that one, with the original Goonies back as adults with kids of their own. I ***** you not.
- ThePenrod, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1I was just joking but you're serious that the Goonies is being sequeled?
- TyrannousDotNet, on 04/04/2008, -3/+3finally!
- carbonetc, on 04/04/2008, -0/+3It sounds really silly, but this movie put me on the path to becoming a philosophy of mind student. I'm sure I would have come by it some other way had I not seen it, but the questions this movie made me start asking myself as a kid about consciousness and the soul and such got my eyes to start opening.
I don't have any faith whatsoever in this remake being worth my own viewing, but if it can trigger kids today to really think about the implications of machine consciousness, then there might be room in the world for it. If it's just dumb jokes and pop culture references as I suspect it will be, then, meh. - belcorriko, on 04/04/2008, -1/+2This is just wrong...
- Langford, on 04/04/2008, -0/+1Remade? Why not a sequel?
Oh well, I expect it will be a lot like the original, but with goofy CGI antics instead of high-speed-motion, and flatulence sounds instead of old TV impersonations. - Morky, on 04/04/2008, -1/+3I have an idea: Premakes. I want to see Iron Man NOW, but starring Bruce Willis. Let's see some agility, Hollywood!
- yunus, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2Its not a new idea. They did it in Spaceballs.
- ybotoby, on 04/04/2008, -0/+4your mother was a snow blower!

- capnarrr, on 04/04/2008, -0/+3the only good that can come of this is that maybe they'll actually release the remote controlled johnny 5 toys that I always wanted as a kid.

- rootneg2, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1just don't let them get hit by lightning....
- HeDiggMe, on 04/04/2008, -0/+4Good lord. Hollywood has truly run out of original ideas. I loved the SC movies but thats all there needs to be.
- form3hide, on 04/04/2008, -0/+6This is going to be horrible. Why can't they just be creative and think of new movies?
- RyeBrye, on 04/04/2008, -1/+11This is great news. Now when I say "Jonny 5 Is Alive!!!! Jonny 5 IS ALLIIIIIIVE" to people who are younger than me, they won't think I'm on crack anymore.
Of course, I should probably stop smoking crack too.- LeePeyton, on 04/04/2008, -1/+0Too True, the looks get old.
- camaroz06, on 04/04/2008, -1/+5Oh God, I dnt know if I could sit through Jhonny 5 shutting down again....that was pretty sad:(

- anarchyx34, on 04/04/2008, -0/+12You know you're getting old when your favorite childhood movies are being remade.
- sfcaptainrob, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2That's what I was thinking.
