- 16x9, on 10/12/2007, -2/+53Does Japan have no lawyers? If that kind of thing happened in the U.S. there'd be lawsuits up the butt (some pun intended).
- r69er87, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31Those silly Japanese......
- yukevster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Sorry to be a party pooper but... I've lived in Japan for six years and there is no way those people are not actors. Sure Japanese have a sense of humour, but they also have a strong sense of dignity -= I mean, if this were for real and some girls muff were exposed to the public or what if some guy was half way through choking one. Total setup folks. Funny all the same.
BTW Does anyone here believe The Jerry Springer show was the real thing? - ivancio, on 10/12/2007, -3/+29They poo the other way round... :S
- boo37, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26Only in Japan. Something like this would never go down well in the US.
You have to be a really "good sport" not to totally sue or attack those responsible. - logic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26Yeah, because "Funniest Prank EVER" is such a descriptive headline. Really makes me itch to click the link, no?
- Pyrogen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23I don't think they care. Look at Extreme Elimination Challenge.
- yukevster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20I live there (here?) and I've tried those toilets. Impossible! I always have to hunt for a western style toilet.
You need to have short and flexible legs, and damn good balance to use a Japanese toilet. - dirtyfratboy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19Just a few more hours until the "NO DIGG CUZ IT AINT TECH!!!!!1!!11!" comments should disappear...
- Aidenag, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15hahaha i love the Water ski version they do in the later parts of this clip.. that dude that falls flat on his ass after the toilet slides out from under him, while his pants are at his ankles was funny stuff
Personally though, i would honestly kill the people responsible if this happened to me.. i would have no problem with jail for it... this just one of those things u dont do to people lol - burke, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16that was actually what I was most intrigued with. What a strange design for a toilet.
- RichPowers, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Why are so many Japanese toilet videos submitted to digg?
- Antz0rz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15I..I'm never going to use a public restroom in Japan, ever.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17how the ***** do they poop? its like their taking a ***** in the woods, lol.
- ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I think that they are pretty clever. You don't have to stick your ass where a zillion asses have touched before.
- troublepup, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Funniest thing I've seen in a really really long time
- TechnoGuyRob, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11No chicks?
- tigerpaper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8It's amazing how different the toilets are throughout the world.
I had to use these public restrooms in italy that had 2 small platforms that you stand on in the middle of filthy rushing water, and you were expected to crap standing up...or squating...or something.
...Sorry for the graphic detail. - Jeffrey903, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9This is what the new video section of Digg v3 is going to be for (still hilariously funny)
- yukevster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8This is how to do it!
http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~AD8y-hys/movie.htm - bonlebon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Even in going to the potty the japanese are practical, no worries bout sitting your ass on a "clean" seat... way to go japan.
- da_bradler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8it's offical people in japan are all women, that's the only way you could explain such a ***** up toliet, I mean seiously if you walked into one of those wouldn't you be like... "what exactly am I supposed to do here... blinking lights? you know what I"m gonna take a ***** in that baby stoller over there"
- cyssero, on 04/18/2009, -0/+6This "***** up toilet" is used by most Asian countries around the world. It's actually surprisingly clean, especially for public toilets since you are not sitting on the rim that someone else has pissed or shat upon - you are not in contact with anything.
- Nerfdude, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8"world's funniest japan pranks"? wouldn't it be "japan's funniest japan pranks"?
- theRIAA, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7this was bound to happen eventually
- MrBabyMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6If you think it's inappropriate for japanese toilet videos to be on digg, don't worry. Digg V3 will have a special place specifically for viral videos. So really, this video is not only appropriate, but actually ahead of its time for digg!
- dirtyfratboy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Mmm... needs more spell check and less caps lock.
- Daisuke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5At least watch out for the portapotties.
- synaesthesia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I was thinking it might be a situation where Mr. Tanaka sees an ad to appear on this television prank show, goes to the studio office, signs a bunch of contracts (mostly promising not to sue), collects his pay and goes home, slightly paranoid because he doesn't know when the prank will be. For two weeks he is always on alert, but after a while he figures they might have cancelled the show or had all the footage they need. Eventually he forgets about it, until one day, he unsuspectingly squats in a public toilet...
- kiddailey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You may think it's a *****-up toilet, but I bet there isn't as much piss all over the floor as there is in U.S. public restrooms because people can't aim, stand too far away or just don't care about missing the urinal.
- diafel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5LOL it's funny cause it's not happening to me
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You think squatting is weird? And it's not weird to sit on a toilet seat covered with the germs of dozens of people? Squatting may require some flexibility and balance, but it's a heck of a lot more hygienic than the western toilet.
- Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4From what I understand about 60% of Japanese homes now have the more modern "Washlet" toilets (the ones you see on digg all the time). That figure come from the Planet Japan podcast. There's also an interesting article on Japanese toilets of all types at Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toilets_in_Japan - yukevster, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8You're right there would be lawsuits, even in Japan. That's why this is a set up - All part-time actors in not-so-public public places.
- interiot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@yukevster: you got that right. I haven't tried one yet... the whole aiming and balance thing scares me off. One of the buildings I work doesn't have a western toilet, I'm afraid I'll have no choice one of these days...
- yukevster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This story just got taken down from the front page - guess it's not up to Digg's NEW high standards now that she's turning three and all.... :(
- rocketnick, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6spell check anyone?
- rmmcclay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I've lived in China now for almost twenty years...and I've adapted the squat. It's the same way I used to ***** in the woods in Alaska....how do you ***** in the woods?
- Sielencer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4man thats funny but if they were to do that in USA there would be soo many lawsuits...and i love that last guy...probably ***** all over himself
- steve693, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I still don't get these toliets. . .squatting? So weird. . .
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3those poor bastards.
- Hellmark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I thought that was a sauna room, and not toilets. I mean, who strips naked, and sits on the toilet with your son?
- yensed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Still... Stranger things can happen in US toiliets.
- rmmcclay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Squatting to defecate is not only safer hygenically, but it's also the most natural way for humans to do the business. There's plenty of info on the net about it.
- yukevster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@broomrape
Actually, that was once true - about 20 years ago. Public and private lawsuits are increasing all the time.
http://lawprofessors.typepad.com/contractsprof_blog/2004/12/friendlier_cour.html - dirtyfratboy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9I don't get pranks like these... It's like if you pretend to lose someone's pet, but then clap and laugh at the end while having a cameraman stand next to you. Does that really make everything all right?
- jpt62089, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5MORE! I need more! Sooo funny!
- yotaro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2In Japan, there are two styles of toilet, Japanese-style and Western-style.
On using Japanese-style toilet, we sit on it like this movie. - crypto55, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If that's actually real and does not involve paid actors, that is perhaps the biggest violation of privacy that I have ever had the misfortune of seeing. Then again, assuming that the 'facility' is not listed as public, how much of a violation is it, if there is no statement as to the permissability for 'public usage?' Even so, it would take a real sadist to develop such a prank.
Wake up and smell the lawsuit... - yahoofrom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why are people calling it Japanese-style?
Not only Japanese use that style of toilet. -
