- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -4/+157In episode 2F09, when Itchy plays Scratchy's skeleton like a xylophone, he strikes the same rib twice in succession, yet he produces two clearly different tones. I mean, what are we to believe, that this is some sort of a magic xylophone or something? Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder!
- rewnick, on 05/22/2009, -2/+67I'd like to see YOU do the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs. Scruffy lookin' nerf herder.
- swordedge, on 05/22/2009, -5/+64Over the years, various science fiction and fantasy authors have had their books hit cult status where fans analyze the minute details of the story. Very often, the author says, "Wow, I was just trying to write a good story. I never intended all that." The fans rarely believe that. Here, two of the theories are wrong.
- barc0de, on 05/22/2009, -3/+52The thing I loved about the movie related to the more advanced technology and ships the federation are shown as having. Star Trek is supposed to be hundreds of years in the future - yet because it originated in the 60s it felt like the past. The movie pushed it into the future again.
- havek23, on 05/22/2009, -6/+49I wanna hear if my theory about the lens flare occurring only when destinies are being changed. Cause it happened in the season finale of Fringe too when she jumped between universes.
- H3BR3W, on 05/22/2009, -6/+45It certainly didn't take any excitement from it.
- Chairboy, on 05/22/2009, -3/+40Simma down now, it's not like they have an article about music. Now THAT would blow everyone's minds.
- shiva14b, on 05/22/2009, -5/+39The knowing what Romulans look like thing (and the fact that Uhura orders a Cardassian Sunrise... uh, hello, they didn't meet the Cardassians until TNG? Holy crap I'm a dork.) was the only thing that bothered me from the movie.
"Yes it breaks with cannon, but it was supposed to", with no reason given as to why? Yup, sorry JJ, you dropped the ball on that one :-P. - drewfusb, on 05/22/2009, -5/+37touch a girl.
- TimTheSloth, on 05/22/2009, -0/+28On the Itchy & Scratchy CD-ROM, is there a way to get out of the dungeon without using the wizard key?

- alpharaptor, on 05/22/2009, -0/+26that's how i feel people look at artwork in general, stating that the 'artist' intended to imply any more than what was publicly proclaimed about the work is usually dimensionally arrogant or arrogantly delusional.
- robinthehood, on 05/22/2009, -1/+27I like his response to the last one on why the new Enterprise is drastically different than the original one from the 60's.
- Jonmad17, on 05/22/2009, -0/+23Not really. Star Trek the series has always been quite different from Star Wars. Star Trek was more about space exploration, going toward the unknown, and maintaining a level of realism (obviously not in technical and scientific detail like 2001, but in it's story and ideas ). Star Wars is more about a hero's journey with great and fun characters. Star Wars is fantasy, Star Trek is science fiction. And I absolutely love the new Star Trek movie, but it felt more like what the Star Wars prequel should have been than the Star Trek TV show.
- jerrycan, on 05/22/2009, -1/+22Give me a movie version of "The trouble with tribbles". Attach Mel Brooks to direct....
- skunkman62, on 05/22/2009, -3/+24firefox user says "what ad?"
- justok, on 05/22/2009, -2/+22Kirk shot first.
- jgtg32a, on 05/22/2009, -0/+19No not really, the only reason it seems that way is because Star Wars follows the Hero's 12 steps to a damn letter.
And Star Trek closely mirrors it

It all build on the theory some guy wrote about six stories a long time ago (in a galaxy far far away) and we've just been retelling them ever since - H3BR3W, on 05/22/2009, -5/+24Do you not realize how outlandish those theories are? Just guessing that the car is a '66? Reading too much into a Beastie Boys song? This wasn't Watchmen, man. Abrams didn't sneak any jabs in. He just made a badass movie. He opened Star Trek up to a whole new audience; one that enjoys quality entertainment. Trekkies are just upset that it draws more attention to how boring and super cheesy the original series was.
- blueaura, on 05/22/2009, -0/+18I'm afraid the error is yours. ST:TNG took place around 70 years after the original series, and the future Spock in this movie is from more than 100 years in the future. If you watched ST:TNG you'd know that Ambassador Spock was alive and well at that time. Vulcans live much longer than humans.
- danwallace, on 05/22/2009, -9/+27That's exactly what the fanboys hate about it. They're no longer part of some elite club of dorks. Abram's took their favorite toy away and shared it with everyone else.
- danwallace, on 05/22/2009, -7/+24It's impossible to give geeks everything they want when it comes to something like this. Geeks thrive on bitching about meaningless ***** that nobody should care about. They just want to have something to whine about.
- norman619, on 05/22/2009, -0/+17I'm pretty sure not many people caught it or even cared.

- Logicexe, on 05/22/2009, -2/+18Except for the meeting with Spock all that stuff only seems unlikely because we're looking at it retroactively. Imagine all the events that your parents had to go through that lead to you being born. Seems incredibly unlikely in hindsight. Heck, if your father had thrust at a different angle while ejaculating a different sperm might have fertilized the egg and you wouldn't exist. Yet you're here, despite the odds.
- KermitJagger, on 05/22/2009, -13/+28I'll stick with the old timeline. The new one is too ADHD.
- inkubusfan, on 05/22/2009, -8/+23i had cap'n crunch this morning.
- memper, on 05/22/2009, -5/+20Lots of negativity in here. The guy managed to create an original star trek movie with only a few minor issues. You people need to start your own website where people submit continuity errors in star trek movies and tv series. Oh wait, those websites already exist because the star trek universe is already filled with many if not hundreds of inconsistencies.
- jiggawatt, on 05/22/2009, -1/+16Han ma bookie. Die wanna wanga?
- norman619, on 05/22/2009, -6/+21the original one looked like a kid made it. It would be funny if Abrams did a Geek's cut of the film where he gave the Geeks everything they wanted. Maybe then they wold undertsand how bad the film would have been had he done it.
- norman619, on 05/22/2009, -4/+18Nah, they are about the same.
- RobotBuddha, on 05/22/2009, -0/+14I felt that way in all my art and literature classes. Though, I'll admit I only took lower level ones so it might have gotten better later on. But it drove me crazy when we had to speak or write on what we "felt" the artist or author was trying to express.
- eibiee, on 05/22/2009, -13/+26wow, Trekkies are even worse than Star Wars fans.
- lostmessiah, on 05/22/2009, -1/+14No bridge, it's just a sign of the Abrams-verse. Slusho is sorta like Red Apple Cigarettes in a Tarantino film, it has no real story significance, it's just one of his hallmarks.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 05/22/2009, -5/+18Mystery Science Theater covered this sort of thing in the theme song:
If you're wondering how he eats and breathes and other science facts, then repeat to yourself "it's just a show, I should really just relax." - sinfulnation, on 05/22/2009, -3/+16All I know is the lens flaring Ikea bridge was a pain in the ass to look at.
- diggduggDOOM, on 05/22/2009, -5/+17Did Abrams address the 50 foot ceilings, wasted space, girders, bladed water filtration device, and brewing tanks in engineering? I wouldn't have been surprised to see the crew running around in front of a brick wall.*
Still very much enjoyed the movie.
*as seen in Space Mutiny - gaqua, on 05/22/2009, -0/+12In Abrams' Trek, Engineering doubles as a Microbrewery.

After the incident with the USS Kelvin, did Nero and his crew really just hang around the black hole for 25 years, playing Fizbin and waiting for Spock to emerge? Couldn’t they have used that time to, say, help Romulus avert eventual disaster? Turns out a major cut scene explains what happened during that time frame. After being rammed by the Kelvin, Nero’s ship was crippled; a convoy of Klingon Warbirds captured the crew and held them in a prison camp for all those years. Eventually the Romulans escaped, reclaimed their ship, blew up 47 Klingon vessels and returned to their mission (some of this is discussed in dialog which remains in the film). The good news is that these scenes were completed and there is hope they may surface on the DVD. - rewnick, on 05/22/2009, -1/+12I think I've just been out star wars'd. *walks away in shame*
- danwallace, on 05/22/2009, -2/+13Yeah, that and the fact that, after all the time he spent there, the ship (in full warp) was still close enough to beam to.
- Elranzer, on 05/22/2009, -0/+11I thought sisters count double?
- Recoil, on 05/22/2009, -0/+10"Slusho" is a fictional beverage that J.J. Abrams likes put in his movies and TV-series, so it's not just restricted to Cloverfield.
- hatdrop, on 05/22/2009, -1/+11the quick jump in ship design is because they are no longer using plastic models
- Logicexe, on 05/22/2009, -0/+10Vulcans have a very long lifespan (200 years or more I think) so it's entirely plausible for Romulus to have been destroyed well after any of the recent movies or TV shows. Not only does Spock appear in TNG but his father Sarek made an appearance too so Spock must have at least a few decades to live by that time.
- inkubusfan, on 05/22/2009, -2/+12cap'n crunch buddies!!!
- norman619, on 05/22/2009, -4/+14This is actually the first Star Trek film I enjoyed. Even my friends who hate Star Trek loved this film.
- gaqua, on 05/22/2009, -1/+10For all your arrogance and condescension, you still can't spell the word "Wrath."
