- BedPost, on 05/17/2009, -0/+55While it'd be nice for nostalgia, I really hope they don't do any of this. They have a new cast with new characters and a new timeline - the prequel's done, its time for these new characters to make their own stories.

- davincih, on 05/17/2009, -5/+48Enough already. What's the point in doing a reboot if you're just going to do the same stuff over and over and over again? Come up with your own ideas. Come up with something new.
- trakie, on 05/16/2009, -4/+42wasn't that the point?
- velveetaavenger, on 05/17/2009, -0/+34They already have a perfectly good Khan movie, they should do something new.
- tryferos, on 05/17/2009, -7/+38Wrath of Khan is typically considered the best of all the Star Trek movies....trying to redo it = FAIL
- inactive, on 05/16/2009, -0/+22But such a major change to the continuity means that they don't have to worry so much about Star Trek canon. Besides, I absolutely hate when someone takes such a major risk like that in storytelling and then backpeddles. If you have the balls to make such a major change, have the balls to stick to it.
Besides, the geek in me is ultimately more upset that all of Spock's efforts at building a relationship between the Vulcans and the Romulans in the original timeline were literally blown away when Romulus was destroyed. - hauntedchippy, on 05/17/2009, -6/+24But how can they do Khan if him and Kirk haven't already met in the Abrams universe?
The whole point is that they are two old men with a history and nothing but the thirst of revenge between them.
What they should do is go through the original series' scripts, find a good one and make it feature length. There's plenty of good material there to choose from and it would fit since they are only at the beginning of their assignment. - Kidddrunkadelic, on 05/17/2009, -2/+20You just answered your first paragraph with the second.
- smacksaw, on 05/17/2009, -1/+19No more Shatner.
No more time travel.
If you're going to have a fresh start, quit dipping into the past and overused themes. Star Trek is a show primarily about exploring space, not time travel. Time travel is a subplot to be used ONLY OCCASIONALLY. - FearlessFreep, on 05/17/2009, -0/+16Every time he ran into them they tried to kill him and one did kill his son... could be why he hates them...
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+15Please. no Borg. That has already been played out to the max
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+14It's kind of funny, I ended up watching Wrath of Khan after seeing the new Star Trek movie, and one thing that struck me is that they seem to counterbalance each other. In one, he's young and reckless, and in the other, he's older and more cautious, and in a way, both deal with the issue of his age and how it affects his thinking. And both focus heavily on the Kobayashi Maru. He cheats it in one, and in the other, after all these years, he finally has to come face to face with it and deal with loss. Maybe it's just the geek in my over-analyzing everything, but the two really seemed connected in my mind, whether it was intentional or not, and as such, I don't really see the need for a new Khan.
- Fythian, on 05/17/2009, -0/+12Kirk hated Klingons cause they killed his son.
- DivisibleByZero, on 05/17/2009, -0/+12Making a good Khan movie would be difficult. Part of what made the Wrath of Khan so popular was the history between Kirk and Khan, and the fact that Khan had spent 15 years marooned on Seti Alpha V... and 15 years had actually passed in real life. Really made the character that much more real.
Bringing Khan into the new timeline would require some serious planning ahead. - DivisibleByZero, on 05/17/2009, -2/+14My friend and I both groaned during that whole conversation where Spock and Uhura explain to the audience that the time travel created an alternate universe. Evidently there actually were some people dumb enough to need that explanation. Sadly, at least one of them was so dumb that even the explanation didn't help.
- CoreyTamas, on 05/17/2009, -1/+13Just so you know: The movie, "Wrath of Khan" is not the first time we see Khan in the Star Trek universe. He shows up in an episode of the original series and, by the show's end, is marooned on Ceti Alpha V. This is the springboard from which the movie takes off.
I guess to put it more succinctly: Prepare for 20-30 replies from hardcore Trek fans telling you that you have your head up your ass. - coldkodiak, on 05/17/2009, -0/+12Khan was cool cause it was Ricardo vs. Shatner...
I'm not dismissing this idea of a new try at this... but the old one worked so well, because of those two. - chugatussin, on 05/17/2009, -3/+14buried alive
buried alive
buried alive
buried alive - Chewie67, on 05/17/2009, -3/+13If I could digg this up 100 times, I would.
"New" Crew, give them New Stories. Forget the Borg. Forget Kahn. Forget Shatner. Forget Nemoy. Move on. - velveetaavenger, on 05/17/2009, -0/+10David Hasslehoff was in the remake of Knight Rider.
- smacksaw, on 05/17/2009, -5/+14Good. Star Trek is not owned by the fans. I'm glad they aren't trying to please a small-yet-hardcore faction of people who think they're the absolute authority on a ***** fictional TV show.
- inevitablity, on 05/17/2009, -0/+9I'm really hoping they come up with a good Klingon antagonist. Maybe explore why Jim hated them so much in the other universe. Have that carry over, maybe a love interest or close friend is killed by said antagonist or something.
- Heywoodj, on 05/17/2009, -0/+9Just give me a T.V series please.
There is nothing on that box anymore - Chewie67, on 05/17/2009, -1/+9Absolutely. We've re-established the crew, now set them out on a new adventure. We don't need to rehash old stories. Create some new ones.
- jeremymccurdy, on 05/17/2009, -3/+11Scotty was ***** awesome, Simon Pegg was perfect in the role. The only thing I didn't like was his little alien buddy, but it barely got any screen time.
- Kronos6948, on 05/17/2009, -1/+8@hauntedchippy:
What Kidddrunkadelic is saying is that the next movie could be based on the episode where Kirk meets Khan. - inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+7Alternate time line. Star Trek utilized that plot device a kazillion times before and it worked.
- viserov, on 05/17/2009, -0/+7Kirk's never trusted Klingons. And he never will. He's never been able to forgive them... for the death of his boy.
- coldkodiak, on 05/17/2009, -0/+7 no borgs. please. It's cool, but not for old trek characters.
- Zippo, on 05/17/2009, -0/+7SPOOOOCK! SPOOOOOOOOCK!!
(did anyone else giggle when Nero yelled that?) - inactive, on 05/17/2009, -1/+8------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->>> REPLY
- CoreyTamas, on 05/17/2009, -0/+6We're talking about a Star Trek sequel, right? One of the oldest sci-fi franchises in existence with some of the most recognizable characters that 20th century pop culture ever produced? And one of the biggest opening-weekend profits in history? And you're asking for Hollywood to follow up with something *original*?
You're funny. - levi88, on 05/17/2009, -3/+9Please, no more Shatner.
- sjbdallas, on 05/16/2009, -2/+8At first I felt the same way but how do you figure it obliterates the continuity? Vulcan was only prominent in the earliest years of the federation (ie: Archer's time) and was really only an occasional plot point after that.
The only Vulcans that ever really mattered survived. - Spacejack, on 05/17/2009, -0/+6Why would people want a re-do anyway?
- sealbeater, on 05/17/2009, -1/+7Maybe but I think they were aiming for bumbling genius.
- CoreyTamas, on 05/17/2009, -0/+6Hey Abrams: Please. No Borg. Don't turn the new Trek franchise into Voyager. I'm begging you.
- protodon, on 05/17/2009, -1/+7I keep saying this but let's have a genuine new Star Trek movie, with new characters goddamnit! No one has ideas anymore.
- applebyter, on 05/17/2009, -0/+6how did it wipe out TNG universe? The destruction of Romulus is suppose to have happened after TNG anyways so that can't be it...i'm willing to be that in the end th last Star Trek (Kirk) will probably carry over into TNG...hell if hes gonna reboot Kirk and his comrades why not Picard too?
- MidnightTide, on 05/17/2009, -0/+5this movie opened an entire new set of possibilities, make something new!
- jeremymccurdy, on 05/17/2009, -1/+6Pretty much anything with a vagina is Kirk's love interest, a Klingon killing any woman would piss him off because it would be one less broad he could have possibly hooked up with.
- hfactor, on 05/17/2009, -0/+5Especially since "nostalgia" has already been the theme of all movies with Shatner and Nimoy in them. It was great, but enough of that.
- Kidddrunkadelic, on 05/17/2009, -0/+5Yeah probably only way it would work, but it would be better if they just came up with their own *****.
- cambob76, on 05/17/2009, -3/+7If there's old junk(Shatner) or time travel in the next one, I'm not going.
- BTime, on 05/17/2009, -1/+5Star Trek
- Exploring hot new babes
- Seeking out former Villains, casting former crew members
- Boldly going everywhere we've seen before.. - smacksaw, on 05/17/2009, -1/+5I hope you didn't learn that first-hand, and if so, my condolences.
- Crumbeast, on 05/17/2009, -4/+8How about Shatner AS Khan?
- dsmx, on 05/17/2009, -1/+5I'm sure there's at least another 10 a's in that.
