- morninglorii, on 11/12/2008, -0/+41I wish Rorschach's quote was "I'm not in here with you... you're in here with me."
- MoralThreat, on 11/12/2008, -0/+21People that don't have stupid usernames like nickfartzone.
- BXRWXR, on 11/12/2008, -2/+21Honestly, how hard is it to CGI a giant technicolor telepathic alien squid these days?
- sayoshinn, on 11/12/2008, -0/+18Dugg for the Silk Spectre poster.
- beatjuggler, on 11/12/2008, -4/+20I just wish the ending was not changed. :(
- happyfundave, on 11/12/2008, -0/+16I reserve judgment until i see it.
- carpeclunes, on 11/12/2008, -1/+15I don't think it was the giant telepathic squid that made Watchmen's story so great. What made it so great was the moral dilemma that was presented at the end of the book, and that is definitely still in the movie. It just doesn't have anything to do with a multi-dimensional invertebrate.
In fact, if you think about it, a giant squid is kind of stupid. Maybe it works in comic book form, but not in a movie.
I'm going to give Zach Snyder the benefit of the doubt, even though I thought 300 was extremely overrated. - Sleepfist, on 11/12/2008, -1/+14You're right. When is the ***** is Transformers 2 coming out?!?! And when is Creed going to get back together and release another album?!?! And when will the next Axe Body Spray fragrance FINALLY be released?
- sayoshinn, on 11/12/2008, -0/+10a lot of people...this movie is going to be incredible
- toekneebullard, on 11/12/2008, -0/+9If you haven't read the novel, you should.
- erichw1504, on 11/12/2008, -0/+8I'm watching these Watchmen posters.
- danwallace, on 11/12/2008, -1/+9That's because you're overreacting to little bits of news before seeing anything.
- Balanced, on 11/12/2008, -0/+7How do you know it's a horrible movie?
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -1/+8I used to going out at 3am and tappin that ass.
- MalarkeyPN, on 11/12/2008, -0/+7I am so psyched about this movie.
However, I'm pissed that when you click for the supposed "high res" version, it takes you to a stupid USA Today blog. Lies! - Braingoo, on 11/12/2008, -0/+7I just finished reading this comic and to be honest. The ending is a bit weird with the squid and all. Honestly if could have been an eight foot fire breathing cantaloupe. As long as it causes massive destruction the story is for the most part unchanged. I mean I loved spider man. And they freaking took away his web shooters and him squirt out his wrists that and it was based on no other spiderman stories probably for this very reason. So far the movie looks to live up to the comic so until it comes out I'm optimistic.
- toekneebullard, on 11/12/2008, -0/+7by considering the fact that no one reads anymore.
- HisTumness, on 11/12/2008, -0/+6Eh, I don't think that's really a spoiler. It's vague enough that you wouldn't know what it's referring to unless you had already read it and knew the ending.
- dalittle, on 11/12/2008, -4/+10Who cares. If Zack Snyder and Warner Bros are going to make up a new story for this movie it is not really the Watchmen. As much as I would like Alan Moore to be some crazy anti-social guy, he has been right every time about Hollywood's un-ending desire to screw up great stories when the try to make them movies (like I Am Legend). Zack Snyder and Warner Bros suck.
- cptmichael101st, on 11/12/2008, -0/+6great. now just make them release the damn movie.
- oldhick, on 11/12/2008, -0/+5Nice posters. I have high hopes for this movie. I hope its running time is long enough to really tell the story adequately. Can't wait.
- toekneebullard, on 11/12/2008, -0/+4Agreed. I'd hate for people to write off the movie/novel simply because "I heard the ending is just a giant squid attacking the city..."
- apetrie, on 11/12/2008, -1/+5I know I will get dugg down for this, but I'm kind of disappointed in the Silk Spectre. Its not that I don't think that actress is beautiful or I have a problem with her being a hotty or in skimpy clothes, all that is just fine. I would have liked to see a little muscle though. I wanted a pretty face on a Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2 kind of body. This is a woman whos whole life was shaped to be a super hero, who worked out a ton, and was capable of laying the beat down on a group of men. From what I have seen, the Silk Spectre of the movies hardly looks capable of that.
- diggitalism, on 11/12/2008, -0/+4Nice posters, but I'll wait until the movie actually comes out before I say anything about it.
- Braingoo, on 11/12/2008, -0/+4ok well then as long as its something kinda weird that causes massive destruction and no one knows where it comes from. Happy now. my point is it does not need to be a squid to be considered alien.
- bjs3171, on 11/12/2008, -0/+4ah yes. make them more original. great advice.
they seem pretty damn true to the novel, imo. - petebot, on 11/12/2008, -3/+7I still think Ozymandias and Nite Owl’s costumes look lame. They don’t really fit the tone of the book. I mean, I know a literal translation of the Ozymandias costume would be horrible, but this is going too far in the other direction.
Silk Spectre 2, Comedian, and Rorshach seem pretty spot-on though. - mrkmrk, on 11/12/2008, -0/+3I misread; apologies. However, I don't see how Dr. Manhattan or Ozy's plan to frame him could be the island project that drives Comedian insane.
- danwallace, on 11/12/2008, -2/+5"Make up a new story."
God, could you exaggerate a little more? - mrkmrk, on 11/12/2008, -0/+3"As long as it causes massive destruction the story is for the most part unchanged."
The point is that the squid was an alien threat, partial to no country. This changes the entire story and stops it from making any semblance of proper sense. - Guitarsenal, on 11/12/2008, -1/+4Why do they have to put a major spoiler on the Ozzy poster?
- Vostok, on 11/12/2008, -0/+3If you've never read the graphic novel doesn't the last one kind of give away Ozymandias is the bad guy?
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -2/+5if you haven't read the novel
http://lulcat.com/2008/10/10/watchmen-novel-vs-mov ... - jeremyosborne81, on 11/12/2008, -1/+4Why would you want to?
- sdpguy, on 11/13/2008, -0/+3I'll be happy with whatever changes they want to make so long as they make a good MOVIE. I screamed bloody hell when LOTR leaked all their changes to the book but I was happy because it was a damn fine movie. Movies are not books and vice versa and comparing them can only piss you off if you read the book first. That said, I am still apprehensive about this movie. Maybe I'll just ignore reading anything about the movie until it actually comes out...
- MalarkeyPN, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2I predict its run time will make it sort of drag on in the end. There's just so much story to tell - what can they cut without ruining the plot?
Nonetheless I'm still looking forward to it. - mrkmrk, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2Dr. Manhattan isn't a main character? Also, how is it efficient storytelling to remove the motivation for the story to even begin?
- Beatmiser, on 11/12/2008, -5/+7No giant squid, no Beatmiser. I know that sounds pompous, but after listening to all this "We are faithful to the source material." and "It's almost a panel by panel remake" Nonsense, I feel severely let down before the movie is even available.
- Coopdoggie, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2So, where can I order these posters?
- danwallace, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2I Am Legend? Who the ***** is talking about I Am Legend? The only news you've heard about Watchmen being any different than the graphic novel is that the ending may have been altered slightly. That isn't a "new story" that he "made up" and that doesn't say it won't still carry the impact and meaning behind the original ending. All it says is that the director has taken creative liberties in order to properly convert this into a film experience. Fanboys like you who flip out over unconfirmed, meaningless news like this just irritate the hell out of me. Wait until you see the movie before condemning it.
- kazoomaloo, on 11/12/2008, -1/+3No no, that would ruin all the goddamn digg posts about every little piece of Watchmen marketing and buzz.
- HuntGather, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2Looking at the number of diggs, over 400 people so far.
- MalarkeyPN, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2Is he, really the bad guy, though? He's just more of a Machiavellian. But his intentions are good.
- brb1031, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2I was reading about the change, I though it was pretty efficient storytelling. It doesn't change any of the main characters' motivations. While the climax should play out essentially the same, I'd like to see how it plays out in the denouement. The broad ethical question remains the same, and the character most affected would still make the same decision, IMHO.
- lastmaster, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2I do.
- MagicHobo, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2I really like what they did to Nite Owl's hood/helmet area. I think the comic's costume would look cheesy on the big screen, so I thought his costume was an improvement. I'm in total agreement with you on Ozymandias though. It's way too Batman-and-Robin if you ask me.
- brb1031, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2I agree, Dr M is the main character most affected by the change, but don't you think he'd react the same way as he did in Watchmen? I don't think his ego would play into it.
The beginning being the murder mystery? Comedian can still get murdered for the same reason, just he didn't see a giant squid island project. He sees a something else island project. - kgoule, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1Cassoulet forever
- matriculated, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1Ozzymandias looks like a tranvestite Seven of Nine.
