- no12u, on 12/26/2008, -0/+11There's no doubt in my mind that Tom Cruise and the cult of Scientology have hopes that Tom's pathetic attempt to portray a German war hero will help to turn public (German) opinion in the cults favor. No one, even people who have given it a good review, have said that Cruise was particularly good. Mostly they point out he wasn't as bad as they expected. But, those are the positive reviews. Most things I've read say it's a turd. Better luck next time cultists!
- babalonanon, on 12/26/2008, -0/+10This film is an insult to the murdered victims of the Nazis this stupid film attempts to glorify.
The revisionism is meant for German public consumption for the reasons the above poster notes. And to placate the family of the Nazi who Tiny Tom portrays, a family member was hired for a role in the film and to then to counter any negative family reactions. Read the article. Roger Friedman's analysis is absolutely correct.
Valkyrie=Scientology's Godwin - Zubata, on 12/26/2008, -1/+10What does anyone expect from a person so dumb as to let Nicole Kidman get away?
- clarebell, on 12/26/2008, -0/+7Wishing you a Chag Chanukah Sameach, Mr. Friedman!
Please forgive Tom Cruise, he doesn't know any better - he's just a celebrity Scientologist. - DamOTclese, on 12/26/2008, -1/+6LOL! Heterosexual Tom Cruise ends up looking like Charlie Chapman playing Adolf Hitler. LOL!

- Mojavegreen, on 12/27/2008, -0/+3Yes we do need to be reminded about crap like that especially if the movie is based on historical events. If its some shoot'em up brain daead non historical event movie then no. By the way, Why is it that we hardly ever hear about the atrocities commited by the Japanese? One of their worse slave labor camps was operated by Mitsubishi (look it up) not to mention the hell ships that their prisoners had to ride to get to their slave labor camps. The same ships we sank as we had no idea that our captured military had were being shipped on. Japan is as bout as bad as Germany when it comes to the way they treated prisoners and civilians. They need to come out with a WW2 movie that shows that part of the war. Not just focus on the Germans.
- Mojavegreen, on 12/27/2008, -0/+3According to the article it sounds like this movie is politically correct. so as to not offend anyone.

Valkyrie is a pathetic whitewash of events.
And the usual Scientologists are compounding the insult by trying to divert the subject from Nazi's victims to discussing Bush etc.
There is no suspense possible in this film. The conspirators died. Hitler was free to continue murdering. Finis
The plotters had their own agenda, conveniently ignored by the film.
Scientologists: READ THE ARTICLE, if you are allowed to. - solid12345, on 12/27/2008, -3/+2For god sake's it's a ***** suspense movie not a drama piece. Do we have to be reminded of the holocaust in every WW2 film? Next they will be telling us "Patton" was insensitive because it only focused on the battlefield and not the persecutions by the Germans.
- Winston84, on 12/27/2008, -6/+1Following Mr. Friedman's logic, all Americans are a bunch of torturing,war-mongering murderers, even those who did not vote for Bush (= the majority) .
Why didn't you "do something" about it, Stauffenberg tried, did YOU ?
btw : How many "native Americans" did you say you exterminated ?
